It's funny how everyone who went hard shitting on AI feels like they have to justify themselves because they're still gonna watch this

There are some AI generated images used as scene transfers. They were clearly generated early as they look like fricking garbage

It's a talk show so the "we'll be right back" type cards are AI generated. Its fricking nothing. I thought it was forced outrage marketing but then I went on letterboxd and all the top rated reviews are melting down about it
It really is fricking nothing though.

now I really want to see what they look like. like why would they even use AI for that when they could do it easily in a way that's been done before millions of times. is it a stylistic choice?

Imagine caring about AI, it's just a gay parlor trick that will lose it's novelty and become an industrial tool. It's not even actual AI. If we created a REAL AI, the world would probably end

What is it about this movie that makes this the only thing to talk about? True detective used AI in a far worse and more pathetic way and that talk was squashed immediately

Background set decoration vs title card

The problem with the title card was the shitty hands, but it at least fit in the style the show wanted. The tru detective shit was incredibly awkward and sad considering they couldn’t even put together a mock poster for a shitty band.

I don't get the hysteria. The images they show were obviously generated, edited, and touched up the the PAID graphic artists working on the film. Nobody lost a job in the use of AI here. Artless lifting and shifting of prompt-generated stuff by talentless hacks will always be seen and called out for the garbage that it is. But that doesn't change the fact that this is a tool to be LEVERAGED by artists that has very real practical application across various industries, no matter how many myopic luddites shout and stomp about it.

As a programmer, I work in one of the industries 'threatened' by AI, yet I haven't been even half of the hysteria among my colleagues as I have among art gays, mostly because all of us know it is an incredibly useful tool and assistant to do things like sketch out easily defined lower level functions or parse through libraries for relevant classes/methods without having to go through pages of documentation yourself.

I'm gonna wait until streaming because every horror movie with this premise pales in comparison to Ghostwatch. I watched the WNUF Halloween Special last night and it wasn't very good, the first "spooky" thing happened 52 minutes into an 82 minute movie. Seemed like they didn't have any good horror ideas so half the runtime is parodies of late 80s local TV commercials.

      >half the runtime is parodies of late 80s local TV commercials
that really is the point of watching it. for anybody else thinking about giving it a shot, if you're not enjoying it within the first five minutes just turn it off, the point of it is that it feels like a TV broadcast, not being scary

The comedic commercials and kitschy Halloween ambience were what made WNUF enjoyable, the “horror” part near the end you’re referring to was just a bonus, unlike Ghostwatch.

I’m sure Late Night With the Devil pales in comparison to both. While I’m not against AI being used in indie productions on principle, this [...] actually does look bad and gives me a bad feeling of how much the directors took things seriously. If they were deluded enough to think this was good, and that people would respond positively, what does that say about the rest of the movie?

I'm not American so the local TV parody stuff just doesn't hit for me. Here's a funny 90s commercial from my country, it's an ad for scratch off lottery tickets.

I support anything that upends humanities hegemony. Aliens, AI, demons, existential horrors from beyond the 5th dimension, I don't care. If it takes humanity down a notch I support it.

All I care about is quality. A good piece of art is good no matter who made it or how. The thing is, lots of people are insisting on using ai even when the results are FRICKING DOG SHIT. You google "[thing] art" and you'll be guaranteed to see a bunch of things that look like pic related. What the frick is wrong with a person's brain to make them think this is acceptable? If the late night with the devil ai generated art pieces looked decent I wouldn't have a problem with them, but they don't they look like shit and they could have been made to look good with like 5 minutes of work. I have a friend who does promotional art, he'll generate things with ai and smooth out the edges with traditional editing, why the frick couldn't this multi million dollar project do that? It'd take one guy under 30 minutes to do it.

Its not that its ai, its that its shit, its laziness leading to a shit result. A sign that they don't give enough of a shit about the movie to put the BARE MINIMUM amount of effort in, so why should I expect it to be good?
