I love it but you're not a brainlet for disliking it. Definitely a strange, slow film and not what you'd expect from a story "based on scientology" that turns out to be a very gay love story

The scientology thing is a cope from brainlets, I saw this story as two different types of person colliding.

Freddie is a free man, who does whatever he wants.

Lancaster is a man who lives to control other people.

Freddie is his biggest project and he fails in the process, that's why the movie ends the same way it began, with Freddie lying next to the sand woman.

yeah huge regression from TWBB and a sign of things to come. another NOTHING performance from guacamole and amy adams

        >The scientology thing is a cope from brainlets

lmfao, little one. LRH is quite similar to PSH. both just happen to be the creators of a religious cult that started right around the same time

they both just happen to have an obsession with naval ships (freddie obviously has this connection too). they both just happen to have ships sail around where they pretend to act as captain

they're both blonde. both have an addiction to pills/drinking. both hated by their sons who view them as charlatans...

that's just the start, youngling manlet

It's a cheeto dust laced faux-masterpiece for adults video game players. Anyone who indulges in PTA's cinematic hotpocket remains unsophisticated about film.

I think the Master is possibly struck from some deeper creative well, the world created by the film and all the various trailers and extras feels so mysterious. Visually, TWBB is also kind of a standard anamorphic PTA experience but the Master looks utterly stunning and unique.

It’s a discussion or whatever on freedom and control
The last scene has Lancaster literally state the point of the movie: if you find a way to live without a master you’ll be the first man to ever do so
Lancaster wants what Freddie has, freedom
Freddie wants what Lancaster has, Idk

Illustrated by the fact that even though Lancaster is portrayed as a leader he is still controlled by those things like having to host lavish parties and being told what to do by his wife while getting jerked off into a sink.

Worth noting the Scientology/cults angle is obfuscation, a surface level analysis much like when people think Eyes Wide shut is about the illuminati or secret societies rather than sexuality and hierarchies

Oh right, genuine connection. The scene where he’s having sex with that girl and processes her, is showing that he’s finally achieved that. I think.

The teaser/trailer for this movie is still one of my all time favorite trailers.

I can't believe how good it is, I think I like it more than the movie. The actual first trailer is amazing too, but this teaser is something special.

This movie was ruined for me by watching a BBC sissyhypno that prominently featured clips and music from the movie. Now I can't hear Able Bodied Seaman without getting triggered into jerking off. Which is a shame because I used to love that piece of music.

The god damn BBC bullshit is ruining MULTIPLE genres of pornography and I fricking despise it. And an extra genre isn't overtly "You will like the mandingo!" but there's always Black folk at the gangbang and they are always talking over the action.

Brainlet. There's such a deep melancholy in the way the cult leader says, "If you figure a way to live without serving a master, any master, then let the rest of us know, will you? For you'd be the first person in the history of the world."
I didn't really like the movie all that much but as I get older that scene stays with me.

When did the Internet get filled with comments and posts like this? They are absolutely everywhere. Always some vagaries bemoaning how few, how critically, tangibly few people understand something. Then that's it.

Do humans post this? I can't imagine why. I can't imagine a human seeing something, getting excited, and thinking Let me do the work of posting hints as to what a piece of media is Not instead of summing what it is, something that I can do in a single sentence, being that I've thought about it so much more than the average man who failed to grasp the specificity.

I just don't think humans post like that. I assume it's bots training on chat got derivatives. Putting words together that form a senseless logic.

its actually been like that for a long time, its actually ironic that the movie is about cult leaders because this kind of talking is one of the tactics to build a cult of personality and enable ones narcissism.

"no one gets it but me"

people specifically say that without summing up what the "truth" is so that they never can be held to have to commit to an idea or world view and risk being thought of as foolish while they can claim superiority over other people that they claim are fools but those fools atleast actually say something about something.

          Anonymous

These fools just copy paste what they read on reddit or saw on a videoe essay after watching the movie acting like they're smart. Why spoonfeed these morons? It's better to make them work for it and actually try to think for once in their life
