Uh, I would more just put it that Simpsons until around Season 8 or 9 is all that counts and everything after is just Zombie Simpsons or Hack Simpsons.
The earliest stuff is cute and heartwarming but not as funny, then they suddenly hit their stride and it entered its golden age for a while, season 4 and 5 especially but quite strong for a bit after that.
There's even a little bit of watchable stuff here and there after season 9 but basically the hard cut off point of no return is Maude's death in season 11. Nothing of value since around then.
And actually maybe I'd agree with anon here that there's a bit of fairly watchable stuff after season 11 but there was already a real drop in quality by season 9. But Maude's death felt like the moment where it was clear things had gotten very bad
Hack works better than Zombie for at least a couple seasons after 8. There are episodes like the Lisa competing in a national spelling Bee one that while not timeless classics, at least have some sensible chuckles. 2004 onwards is when it was zombie.
>anything after the 90s
a zombie with makeup, talking very slowly, heavy flanderization, out of place modern pop culture memes and social statements inserted into the 90s cartoon, I pretend it didn't happen
My mom and her friend went to Taiwan for "vacation" and they came back looking like this. She asked me for a $5,000 loan but didn't tell me she was getting plastic surgery.
it is sad, most older women look ok as long as they don't get fat, but it is heresy to tell them this, while they waste $1000s on cosmetics and plastic surgery, the only decent plastic surgery I have seen is getting rid of bags under the eyes or removing a giant israelite nose
Damn, move your weird puffy face out of the way and let me see those FAT breasts! Do you see that shirt? They're Right There! I want to see more. That's the first time I've been turned on by Madonna. I'd bag her head at this point, but those bazooms! Damn!
It's funny how every time for the last like twenty years. There are people who say 'yeah, the last few seasons were bad. But, it's actually good again'.
1-2: early peak SOVL Simpsons
3 - best part of 9: golden age
worst part of 9 - 12: early zombie Simpsons, but still decent
13 - ~20 + The Movie: pretty bad on average, but salvageable at times
everything after: complete garbage
about half of seasons 1-3 are good-great
4-8 has like, maybe two episodes that *aren't* good-great
9-10 dips down into ~half-good-great again
11-12 have 5-6 good episodes each
everything after that doesn't exist
this is a rough breakdown; I'd have to go back and evaluate all of them again for exactitude
You can pretty much divide Simpsons up based on showrunner >Season 1–2: Matt Groening, James L. Brooks, & Sam Simon.
Early days rough around the edges where Simpsons was still finding itself >Season 3–4: Al Jean & Mike Reiss.
Golden Age Beginning >Season 5–6: David Mirkin.
Golden Age Peaks >Season 7–8: Bill Oakley & Josh Weinstein.
Golden Age Ending >Season 9–12: Mike Scully.
Proto-Zombie Simpsons >Season 13–31: Al Jean.
Zombie Simpsons >Season 32–present: Al Jean & Matt Selman.
Now we are into this weird period that has every lefty cartoon youtube gay claim Simpsons is good again
Where is Zombie and neo-zombie simpsons?
OP missed a few eras. Each one goes for no more than 6 except the last which apparently has gone on for almost 2 decades
You must understand that there's a minority of morons whose feelings are to be handled with care.
Just say Republicans anon.
I think of it as
>Season 1
Finding its feet
>2 - 9
Classic
>10 - 15
Watchable
>16 onwards
Crap
I'd say 8-11 is out of the golden age but better than watchable. I say this even though 8 is my personal favourite.

87-89 was shorts on Tracey Ullman, not the standalone Fox show. Doesn't count.

I stopped watching after they made a big deal about 50 Cent being a guest. He was on for like a minute and it wasn't even funny.
No, everything after season 9 is just different flavors of shit.

What was up with the colours in the 'modern' age?
You can kind of see in this example (and the episode is a good choice), something about series 9 onwards everything just looks really vivid and flat.
It lines up with when they switched to digital drawing
