Only really for Re:Zero. Also had a phase when I was 13 for when I desperately wanted to have sex with Gardevoir from Pokemon. Read some of the most depraved stuff imaginable. One time I came across a fanfic in a post apocalyptic world where pokemon had taken over and started exterminating humans. The main character was a 14 year old who was stalked, beaten, raped, groomed, and tortured by an adult Gardevoir. This went on over 100 chapters. I looked at the rest of the author’s work and they were just variations of the same, with the same male teenage protag being raped by the exact same Gardevoir in high school, futuristic, police, and every other setting you can imagine.
Read the novels. Much better. Most of the fanfics are based off of the novels anyway.
Season 3 is coming out next year, so even if you don’t read more suffering kino is coming soon

If you filter out every single garbage ship that is popular amongst women then you still tend to end up with decent stuff when sorting by kudos from my experience. Better than sifting through a sea of fics written by twelve year olds.

SB and SV are definitely good, especially if you’re into scifi, superheroes or anime.
For Stargate Atlantis, I always liked "Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose"
https://archiveofourown.org/works/6335230
It's the only slashfic I've ever enjoyed. Basic premise is, after the Atlantis project ends in something of a fiasco, Rodney exiles himself to a third-rate college in the American Midwest to teach physics.
Yes but you have to weed through mountains of garbage before you find them. Some fanfics I've read have made me cum and also rethink my fricking file. Of course those are really rare as most is 14 year old girl's fantasies about homosexual men. Not much gets written for movies though.
They like to self-insert into the “sub”. I think it’s 50% sexual fantasy while also 50% homosexual men being the only men they can actually understand on a deeper level, being psychologically similar to women. This also means they don’t have to think about other women (who could be seen as competitors) in the equation
That's weird, because if you actually look at fujoshis, all their sexual lust is directed towards the sub, to the point where having favoritism towards the top is relatively rare.
I think it's a mix of wanting to dom but being sexually incapable to do so and needing to demean men they are attracted to but incapable of having by making them sexually sub to another man.
It's incomprehensible unless you have a phD in fujoshis. Breakdown from another site: >Japanese image depicting different "types" of fujoshi. The main three types are Snake, Slug and Frog, a trio based on Japanese mythology that serves as a form of "sansukumi-ken", or rock-paper-scissors games. >The fujoshi are categorized by whether they want their favorite character to be seme or uke, whether they accept multishipping (a character with multi other characters), and whether they accept reversible ships (changing who tops and bottoms). >Snake: Has a fixed uke: multiships, but their favorite can only bottom. >Frog: Has a reversible OTP: no multishipping, but can accept switching in their favorite ship. >Slug: Has a fixed OTP: a favorite ship, with no switching and no multishipping. >Snail: Uses a mob character as seme for their favorite uke, either because there are no options in canon or because they only care about the one character. Tentacles are also an option. >Gecko: "Seme freak" who only wants their favorite to top. >Turtle: Can accept any ship in any order. >The Gecko character, who seems to be the seme equivalent of the Snake, is not depicted as part of the main trio because "fixed seme" fans are much rarer than "fixed uke" fans.

I still don't get it (the can see thing) and I'm an autistic fujo myself
It used to be a laughable question pre-2010 but given the absolute state of hollywood I don't believe it's hyperbolic to say there is a good deal of fanfiction better written than most things made for TV for the last 15 years.
This is also the reason why webnovels and self publishing, which ten years was practically in the same category as fanfic, has been exploding recently. It’s not because they’re particularly good, but because it’s what the audience actually wants.
Published novels, particularly sci-fi/fantasy are in such dire straights that they’re routinely demolished by isekai litrpg and Xianxia. Just imagine getting a gig due to nepotism, putting the right amount of diversity in your book to get it published, having a major advertising push, maybe even a bribed Hugo award or similar, then releasing it to get mogged by a web novel about a farmer and his king fu chicken
That was funny when it came to the animals, but I wasn’t a fan of the guy also becoming OP. IMO It could have been cooler and funnier if only the farm animals got strong
Have you guys ever read any fanfics that turned out better than the source material?
For me, I really liked the fanfic, Miraculous Knight, which is a Miraculous Ladybug x Batman crossover and it fixes literally every problem I had with Miraculous Ladybug while leaving only the good stuff.
It's weird reading fanfiction of real people (even actors in a TV show) so the only ones I read are on cartoons, anime, Dark Souls or Touhou. It can be a lot of fun when they make the story gritty and brazenly edgy, like this one on A Certain Scientific Railgun called "Fall into the Depths" is probably my favorite fanfic ever, I've read it 5 times.
Yeah I agree, also if the fanfic is a self insert of the author. I don't like any of those because any of those fanfic inevitably became shameless narcissistic self wank.
Self insert fanfics can be fun in some scenarios. One time I read a Kamen Rider x Re-Creators self insert fic, and it was all about a fanfic author gaining superpowers, and it was all about him finding out that being a superhero is actually pretty scary and traumatizing.
Essentially, if the self-insert is written like an actual character rather than wish fulfillment for the author, then its cool

Most likely a coworker's teenage kid using the shared mobile data. The chan is popular with the kids here these days, and none of my coworkers are computer nerdy or stupid enough to shitpost with that on Cinemaphile. But it did have me looking at them weird at first.
Hey glad to hear it. If the person who pays me for commissions isn't dead, there will be a Sahja story follow up. It's done, but I just need a payment before it goes up.

Yes, actually, mostly with anime but I did it for a few movies, namely "The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane" which has a somewhat ambiguous ending and I really wanted more the dynamic between the main characters, unfortunetly there is only a single fic and it wasn't a particularly well written one. I also read a couple fics for stuff like Ginger Snaps and Jennifer's Body, which a couple were better, but those were more rewrites and side-stories than continuations.

>take female character in fic >call them trans >i’m disgusted and grossed out >take identical character >call them futa >I get hard and I beat off
Why am I like this?
Because trannies are mentally ill and inherently disgusting, and you know the author is too. Futa girls are just girls with a dick no mental illness attached. I too coomed to a futa Kobayashi maid dragon fapfic yesterday.
The troony is written by a mentally ill man to roleplay as a woman. It is disgusting and 99% of the story will be about his mental illness and emotions.
The futa is written by a man in order to COOM. 99% of the story will be smut.
A lot when I was younger but less so now. If you've ever seen Hyouka the fanfiction ending is better than anything the author could write since he gave up on finishing the novel series.
Before the last aot chapter dropped in 2021, I wrote a fic based on one anon's suggestion in /snk/. Shat out 8k words of mpreg erehisu and published to ao3. Couldn't finish it after because I was no longer horny.
Still getting kudos from well meaning normoids to this day, thoughever.
There are fanfic writers more creative and talented than modern day scriptwriters and novelists, stuck writing for an audience of 5 people. I spent six months translating a Chinese author's 300k word long novel into English, it was the best I could do for his rigorous effort and dedication to an amazing work of philosophy when I was the only reader. It's derivative of Touhou with his unique twist on a modern world. Takes much inspiration from literature, poetry, comics, video games, and cinema. For example, the relationship of Reimu and Marisa is based on Comedian and Manhattan from Watchmen, but it takes the most after Russian realist literature and existentialism. Here's the English version if anyone cares to check it out https://archiveofourown.org/works/46715119/chapters/117653653
>the relationship of Reimu and Marisa is based on Comedian and Manhattan from Watchmen, but it takes the most after Russian realist literature and existentialism
This sounds awful and absolutely kino at the same time
>continues the story of your favorite movies and shows?
Not really. It's always AUs, sidestories, and rewrites that grab my interest. Exploring things the original writers couldn't.
That’s the one where the author was such a b***h that he claimed one of his enemies, who hadn’t had the decency to die yet, was in hell anyway, wasn’t it?
Mostly TBBT, all of which involves Penny cheating on Leonard.
Some Brooklyn 99 and Star Trek.
Started writing some of my own, but never finished one to my satisfaction.
I tried my hand at one where BDH and Hendricks do a blowbang at a red carpet premiere with lots of cum puking and using filled condoms as dildos and I discovered I might be a dyed in the wool pervert but I'm a lousy writer.
I think mine may have a bit too much buildup sometimes, and I skip parts where I know what has to happen but I don't feel like writing THAT part. And the sex parts I struggle with 1 because I dont want them to be too repetitive and 2 I mostly dont write long bits before I get distracted.
And of course I am an ESL homosexual, so after I am done it would need some proper spellcheck and editing.
My TBBT fanfic evolves around Penny getting seduced by Leonards 18yo lab intern, who is also a streamer and happens to be very well hung. She feels bad about it and he likes to play rough.
Reminder that troons don't consume media that doesn't involve cute girls to self insert as. Threads like this are proof that there are real women on Cinemaphile. Naysayers will deny this.
There was an utter 10/10 story where Gilderoy Lockhart used a charm on Hermione and she blew him in the dark arts classroom, but the author must have been ashamed and deleted it.
I always thought that obliviate was one of the most abusable spells in the series. Using that + imperio you could do literally anything to anyone and get away with it 100% of the time.
I really like this Saiki K fic that diverges during the Oshimai arc, where Ku forgets to wipe everyone's memories when he resets that last time.
Off the Rails! by hozzz111
It's really good for a fic, but it's not quite source material level good.
Do you like /mlp/ and want to take a chance? Sadly, I can't think of many excellent crossovers outside of it. Maybe name some things you like. Only a RWBY one comes to mind.
This is why I like fanfiction
Amongst the trash their are genuinely well written works and shit that totally jumps the shark to the point of being enjoyable again. The latter is always written either by people with 0 self awareness which allows them to fully commit to a stupid premise or people who know exactly what they are writing and are able to walk the knife edge to create absurdist litkino where you find yourself 10 chapters fully invested in story with a dramatis personae that looks like a fortnight character lineup.
That website has some of the most genuinely fricked up and depraved shit on the internet. It’s impressive the feds haven’t shut it down. Is it because the userbase is largely women*?
(*Femcels)
If by that you mean 'weird porn' than yes, ever since I was 14.
The real wild shit was on LJ kink memes. The glory days.
It's funny how mad they get when you leave mean reviews.
Meanwhile posting something equally bad on fanfiction.net would get you at least half a dozen 'have a nice day' reviews a chapter.

Explain the image
It's incomprehensible unless you have a phD in fujoshis. Breakdown from another site:
>Japanese image depicting different "types" of fujoshi. The main three types are Snake, Slug and Frog, a trio based on Japanese mythology that serves as a form of "sansukumi-ken", or rock-paper-scissors games.

Man this shit is giving me a headache girls are fricking nerds
Yeah, fujos seem to be the actual female equivalent of nerds. As in, as a dude, you look at this stuff and you're like 'wha', and you know you'll never get it or why you'd think this way.
I still don't get it (the can see thing) and I'm an autistic fujo myself
Probably for the same reason why I'm obsessed with lesbians, they just think its hot
This. I once asked a woman that and she put just that bluntly.
>i like wiener and two wieners are better than one
It used to be a laughable question pre-2010 but given the absolute state of hollywood I don't believe it's hyperbolic to say there is a good deal of fanfiction better written than most things made for TV for the last 15 years.
But there's still 95% dogshit of course.
Beware of Chicken is kino and somehow a perfect gateway for Xianxia in general.
That was funny when it came to the animals, but I wasn’t a fan of the guy also becoming OP. IMO It could have been cooler and funnier if only the farm animals got strong
I disagree, the MC being powerful is a spoof of a Xianxia trope about a wise old hermit that actually an extremly powerful Elder.
The fact that he introduced a reality check with Shen Yu makes it work. The guy clearly can’t just stride up to any problem and vaporise it now.
Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality is great.
https://hpmor.com/
I enjoyed this Fate/Stay Night x Sekiro crossover called In Flight. It’s about UBW Shirou going to Japan and finding out his birth parents are alive.
It’s comfy.
I cringe at Shirou monologue. The way he was written make him sound like a cringy American weaboo instead of himself from the VN.
I like bawdwriter

For me, I really liked the fanfic, Miraculous Knight, which is a Miraculous Ladybug x Batman crossover and it fixes literally every problem I had with Miraculous Ladybug while leaving only the good stuff.
>which is a Miraculous Ladybug x Batman crossover
Yes, I love NTR and Sissekai type fics.
Oh god no but I did read some Transformers x MLP fanfic once, dont really remember much about it though.
100% same here. I cannot read fanfiction of live action because I just feel like a creep
Essentially, if the self-insert is written like an actual character rather than wish fulfillment for the author, then its cool

only anime slash fics
I really quite enjoy the fanfiction of Alex Kurtzman.
is there original incest porn there? especially I like the ones with weird premise like Cum Addiction on CHYOA
I read a lot of doki doki literature club fanfics but holy fricking shit every tenth story has “Trans Natsuki” as a tag

Yes, actually, mostly with anime but I did it for a few movies, namely "The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane" which has a somewhat ambiguous ending and I really wanted more the dynamic between the main characters, unfortunetly there is only a single fic and it wasn't a particularly well written one. >take female character in fic

Why am I like this?
Because trannies are mentally ill and inherently disgusting, and you know the author is too. Futa girls are just girls with a dick no mental illness attached. I too coomed to a futa Kobayashi maid dragon fapfic yesterday.
Trannies are just coping men and there's nothing even remotely attractive about them, whereas futas are just imaginary idealized sex objects
The troony is written by a mentally ill man to roleplay as a woman. It is disgusting and 99% of the story will be about his mental illness and emotions.
The futa is written by a man in order to COOM. 99% of the story will be smut.
They are not the same.
Can anyone recommend something similar to Worm? I also read Olivine Romance
I liked Mother of Learning, Superworld, and The Law of Averages on Royal Road.
This sounds awful and absolutely kino at the same time
Thank you anon, sounds interesting. I'll definitely try to read it
Thank you
>continues the story of your favorite movies and shows?
Not really. It's always AUs, sidestories, and rewrites that grab my interest. Exploring things the original writers couldn't.
yes. my favorite fics are when jesus and/or lucifer show up to watch them frick, and then usually crowley gets pregnant with another antichrist.
I once read a Bible fanfic where God, Jesus, and Satan have a threesome, before killing each other in a John Woo style standoff
I read a self insert Bible fanfic where the author got a guided tour in Hell and he sees his political rivals got punished in there.
I remember that fic. Think the writer is called something like XxDantexX on ao3
Dante Alighieri was basically your ancestor's Chris-Chan
That’s the one where the author was such a b***h that he claimed one of his enemies, who hadn’t had the decency to die yet, was in hell anyway, wasn’t it?
Does he have a cute waifu?
He only meet her like twice in his life but he still simped over her lol.
I liked that Akatsuki no Yona fanfic, especially since I'm not reading the manga
I love shipping fics and got a semi-decent following on my circles. I uploaded an original story that got some positive feedback.
As another author, how can you enjoy internet "feedback"? It's all so basic, from people with no taste. I just feel insulted when I get it.
Are you an irl villain ?
I once read a fanfic novelization of Mass Effect 2, that autist did a pretty good job of making that thing into a novel
Ashamed to admit it but yes
I'm an mff coomer, please recommend me fics.
I wish to expand my collection
Browse Questionable Questing, you need to register an account though.
Reading this DC fanfic by kenchi618. It's called less than zero. Very interesting fanfic and makes me wish there were more comics about rose wilson.
Based, I found that one a week after he posted the last chapter and devoured it in a day. Great stuff.
>the last of us part 1 fanfic where ellie is bi
>the last of us part 1 fanfic where joel is a paedo and ellie likes it, and it's written from her pov

Only works that involve ships I like
I've read some Sopranos fanfiction and found out that there are people who apparently ship Tony and Chrissy together.
how many women ITT?
Reminder that troons don't consume media that doesn't involve cute girls to self insert as. Threads like this are proof that there are real women on Cinemaphile. Naysayers will deny this.
Master and commander is a work that exemplifies duty, the burden of leadership and brotherhood without being homoerotic in the slightest
on one hand it's nice reading emotional romantic stories . on the other, it makes me feel so fricking lonely
The only fanfiction I’ve ever been remotely impressed by is Harry Potter: Prince of Slytherin. Better than the originals.
I feel like thats dropped in quality and been dragging along too much lately.
>NHL fanfiction
What are some really surprising fandoms?
NASCAR drivers
NFL and soccer players
I really like this Saiki K fic that diverges during the Oshimai arc, where Ku forgets to wipe everyone's memories when he resets that last time.
Off the Rails! by hozzz111
It's really good for a fic, but it's not quite source material level good.
I hate crossover fics as a rule.
Maybe you just haven't met the right one?
no such thing.
I've cringed at crossovers ever since Brawl's Subspace Emissary
Do you like /mlp/ and want to take a chance? Sadly, I can't think of many excellent crossovers outside of it. Maybe name some things you like. Only a RWBY one comes to mind.
I don't like the candy colored horses enough to read a fanfic of them.
Besides, I rarely personally read fanfics, I prefer writing them.
I like it if the story manage to seamlessly blend different universe into one and it's suck if it's just an isekai.
>spent literally $3000+ on story commissions
i wish i still had money so i could keep doing it
The SFDebris guy did a multi-volume crossover between Star Wars and Star Trek
>Death Star destroys Circassia Prime
>Sith Janeway
>Luke/Seven of Nine
This is why I like fanfiction
Amongst the trash their are genuinely well written works and shit that totally jumps the shark to the point of being enjoyable again. The latter is always written either by people with 0 self awareness which allows them to fully commit to a stupid premise or people who know exactly what they are writing and are able to walk the knife edge to create absurdist litkino where you find yourself 10 chapters fully invested in story with a dramatis personae that looks like a fortnight character lineup.
