Nah I get this. It's more about shit that's made by cartoonists, not lesbian writers and overseas indians.

But yeah I get your point, don't support anything just for the sake of supporting it. Support something if you think it's actually good.

      >corposlop
Both of these movies are made by cartoonists, of the kind who do funny drawings. They're not made by comedians or live-action writers who've hired artists to make their vision a reality. This is as far from corposlop as it gets. Especially Fixed, which doesn't have a pre-existing IP attached to it and is being marketed entirely on the strength of Genndy as an artist.

This is the closest we've ever gotten to a world where Bakshi won.

Quite literally, because we need more Crumbs and Bakshis in the world.

If anything Cinemaphile didn't turn on him fast enough, dude is talented for certain stuff but he does not deserve to be praised like he's some artistic genius. He desperately needs a tard wrangler.

Honestly even considering his recent work, which hasn't all been great (even if you like Primal s2 you have to admit Unicorn was a mess) I'm willing to give this one a chance because I know he has the potential to make good stuff.
Plus it's more of a straight comedy, his frickups have all been dramatic action shows.
I understand not having sacred cows, but I wish more people were willing to give things a try rather than dismiss them immediately.

there is nothing wrong with 3D animation as long as it isn't cheap and the story isn't shit.

If the animation is great but the story is boring or bad, I'm not going to pay to watch it. An animated movie isn't just its animation, it's the whole product and should get judged as such.

3D animation is too corporate. Even the most mediocre 2D movie has a minimun of soul. In other words, I will prefer watching something like We're Back, a Dinosaur Story over at any Trolls movie any day.

  9. 3 months ago

In all honesty, no. Not for these two movies.
I dislike the new Looney Toons Cartoons, and have had no faith in any LT theatrical releases for a couple of decades. They have yet to prove my skepticism unfounded.
I have some interest in Fixed, but do not feel a movie ticket is justified. It's not just the concept of the film itself, but comedies in general. They're better enjoyed in the comfort of home with family and friends, or group streamed online, or alone in nothing but my underwear with all the drinks and food I want.
Put Wolfwalkers in theaters again, and I'll go support that. But Fixed should have been for streaming.

I'll support this if it revives the old cinematic 2D animation tradition, though I'd like Daffy to be both a jerk and a lunatic in one. Also, I see the aliens on the poster, but I don't see Marvin? Isn't he the one who hates Daffy the most and wants the Earth to explode?!

      >I'll support this if it becomes a cultural phenomenon which is only achieved by people like me supporting it
How about just watch it if it looks interesting and ignore it if it doesn't? People itt are acting like watching either of these has to be some kind of cultural statement instead of just waiting to see if they're products worth spending time watching. If all you cared about was 2d animation you'd already be watching shit that already exists that you actually like rather than waiting for new shit to come out before you even know if it's good.

I’m already going to see The Peasants in a few weeks, and was a masterpiece. We will get to see Mars Express (which France already loves), Chicken for Linda (which won the Annecy prize), and Bill Plympton’s Slide. The Whitest Kids You Knows’s final project Mars is expected to come out. Best of all, Sylvain Chomet finally has a new movie this year and it will be amazing. And then I didn’t bring up stop-motion works or the many features we don’t even know exist yet, that will excite us after film festival premieres.

There is so much good-looking animation coming out this year that actually respects an adult audience’s intelligence. If you still deny this, you are moronic. If you ignore this post you are a coward. Everything I brought up is 2D and I didn’t even mention anime because I know that makes you butthurt. I’m not seeing Genndy’s autistic dog penis bullshit or soulless Warner Bros “content” that won’t actually come out. Get better taste.
