I’d say it’s a good thing to want it since it is an inevitability. Hollywood is running out of ideas. Capeshit is out, video game adaptions are in, and now manga and anime story rights are looking interesting to Hollywood. One Piece and YuYu Hakusho is proof of this.
It’s good for there to be a vested public interest so that studios are aware this isn’t a completely niche unknown story that they can cheap out and and frick up with bad choices. Higher demand means it gets a higher budget (ideally).
Drumming up interest and popular demand for more Berserk media is for the best. Berserk having a live action movie be a big international hit is a good thing.

You definitely need a background in anime/internet culture to know about Berserk- I agree. And that is why this is an opportunity for a studio to try and introduce it to a broader movie going/streaming audience.
Realistically speaking if they were to adapt Berserk into a film or series it would have to be the Golden Age Arc. I don’t think Berserk is too “violent” or “weird” to adapt either- especially in Golden Age Arc. It’s about as graphic as Game of Thrones.
Berserks artstyle is rooted in realism and save for fantastical things like monsters much of its designs are based on historical art- it’s one of the few manga that could be adapted to live action and not feel uncanny

There aren’t that many plot heavy rape scenes in Berserk Golden Age. There’s Donovan which happens off screen, and you have Casca/Femto and that’s the horrific climax of the story.

The manga becomes too schlocky and the anime removing almost all of the supernatural before the Eclipse makes it way more hard hitting.

I thought Conviction was easily the second-best arc. It is better than a lot of Golden, but the Golden arc overall was perfect because it is the only one to be a genuine standalone story in its own right, hence the movie. The other arcs are forgettable and not deeply written imo
