>The writing and show in general is much better than the Chibnall era.
I haven't watched any of the new stuff or the 60th specials yet, but isn't this to be expected? the chibnall run is so unbelievably dull.
Chibnall's final story was unironically ok. The rest of his era sucked though.
The current era is worse than the Chibnall era. They made the 14th and 15th Doctors canonically gay and the political messaging is so hamfisted it transcends parody.
>The visuals have never been better
The visuals and overall camerawork/directing was much better in the Moffat era IMO. That's what carried it even when the writing was lame. The new series feels way too artificial and Disneyesque in its aesthetic and presentation.
>visual effects
Pointing the camera properly is responsible for like 90% of a show/movie's visual quality. The total time you see special effects on screen during a Doctor Who episode is usually a single minute out of forty five.
For a sci-fi show visual effects are very important. You cant feasibly argue that the effects aren't at their best now. Direction can be argued for but even then the current episodes are competent.
>For a sci-fi show visual effects are very important.
For a sci-fi show like The Expanse or Andor yes absolutely. But a show like Doctor Who doesn't rely on special effects nearly as much.
Moffat's first and last series are the best that Doctor Who has ever looked. His first series had this weird dreamlike, fairytale look but it worked. I'd even say it took a lot of cues from Disney, in a good way.
The Pilot is another great example of what works. The TARDIS scenes and then the final scene of the Doctor inviting Bill to travel with him tell you everything about Doctor Who in less than 10 minutes.
>The writing and show in general is much better than the Chibnall era.

>I think the outcry is from a very sensitive group of people who seethe whenever they see gays, blacks, or women
I never used to do this because the proportions of all three on TV matched their representation in the world outside my front door. Look at TV now. Then look at this: >2021 UK Census >0.54% - identifying as trans >1.5% - identifying as gay or lesbian >4.2% - identifying as black
>REEEE STR8 WYTBOI NEEDS HIS SAFESPACE
nah, I just don't want to watch TV that makes me think I've moved to the fricking Congo with a gay theatre troupe thanks. Just stop making shows where any group of five characters must include at least one Black person, a homosexual and a troon or enby and I'll be perfectly happy. That's not representation, it's indoctrination.
Space babies were super creepy. Fun episode.
Maestro was fun villain, but there were too much wannabe drama in that episode slowing it down.
I hope it stays as fun for the rest of the season and they didn't blow all their load on the first 2 episodes
I'm not watching it, just hanging in /who/ for the bantz as i've always done.
Last episode I watched live was Capaldi's last one. Last episode I actually bothered to watch at all was one of Jodies, don't remember which one because they're all ghastly. Show's dead to me.
I don't think I'm doing either. It's just sort of uninterested 'guess-I'll-see-what-they-do-this-time' watching. Lethargic watching, that's what I'm doing.
>Episode three of the new Doctor Who is called Boom, but a more accurate title would be Pffft >It consists of Gatwa’s Time Lord standing on a landmine for half an hour while crying >Moffat says in the programme notes that he wanted to write a story full of suspense and tension >But there is none, because they’re hardly going to blow up the new Doctor, are they? >there are Big Themes >One is that war is bad, and people who sell weapons of war are really bad >The battlefield is patrolled by “ambulances” run by algorithms and controlled by an arms-dealing corporation >Two: religion is bad >I’m going to hazard a guess that Moffat is an atheist, because the gun-toting soldiers here wear dog collars and are “ordained Anglican marines” >“Since when was the Church an army?” asks Ruby. “Since most of your history. You’ve been living in a blip,” replies the Doctor >When a little girl explains that her mummy “got gathered up by God”, the implication is that she’s fallen for all that nonsense about heaven >20 minutes later, this child is cheerily referring to her parent as “just dead” >Moffat throws in little references for Whovians to pick up - the Doctor sings The Skye Boat Song, Tom Baker stepped on a landmine in GotD >For most of the episode there are fat tears rolling down Gatwa’s cheeks >Unfortunately this also means the Doctor has some soppy stuff to deliver >“Snow isn’t snow until it falls,” he says, which alludes to the mystery surrounding Ruby’s parentage but is also completely meaningless >You can’t escape the Disney influence, and not just with a set and costumes which look like Star Wars leftovers >There’s a cute kid and a cheesy ending >[Gatwa's] only joke comes when he says of the landmine: “I had to deactivate one of these once at a lesbian gymkhana. Underwater. For a bet.” >2/5 stars

>Known for his haunting monsters and all-time classics like The Girl in the Fireplace and Blink, Moffat's return has been highly anticipated, but Boom spells something rather different for him. >The Doctor accidentally stands on a sophisticated landmine, which is triggered by movement, and has to figure out a way to save himself, Ruby, and the entire planet without moving a muscle >Most fans have already been won over by Gatwa's charismatic, witty, and energetic Doctor, but Boom shows a completely different side to him. >Vulnerable, unsure and, let's face it, downright terrified >With the Doctor being out of action, Ruby is forced to step up >[Gibson's] performance beautifully reminds us of how young Ruby actually is and just how much she's been through as the mystery around her birth continues >It's an absolute treat whenever they're both on screen, and together they seamlessly navigate some of the most intense scenes we've seen so far from them >Where [eps 1 & 2] may have suffered from a slight lack of jeopardy for our TARDIS duo, there's no such concern here, with the Doctor, Ruby and an entire planet being one blink, twitch, or breath away from destruction at any moment >It's not quite an all-time classic, especially when compared to Moffat's past work >There are also some slightly jarring themes that don't always work – perhaps a victim of cuts and the timing of the episode. >Tense, suspenseful, visually beautiful, heart-wrenching, and slightly unhinged, Boom is quite simply a recipe for a stellar Moffat return. >4/5 stars

Never misses a trick, our Steven. >Boom could lay claim to being his best episode since [Blink] aired in 2007 >inspired by a brief moment in Tom Baker-era Who when the Doctor stepped on a landmine, Moffat has turned this moment into a whole episode >the result is, for a good part of it, an involving two-hander with the companion Ruby Sunday that delivers a trenchant anti-war message >Just as Davies has made clear points about the transgender debate, social-care funding, abortion and other issues in his latest scripts, Moffat’s episode would certainly be approved by the Stop the War Coalition or Campaign Against Arms Trade, although perhaps not Lambeth Palace >The war is being waged by soldiers with dog collars and clerical titles. >They seem to be commanded by a bishop and call themselves Anglicans, and at one stage the Doctor admonishes them for their blind faith. >Although no doubt Anglicans would approve of the messages about pacifism and the capitalist impulses that drive war. >It’s a fantastically realised world with clear signs of the bigger budgets from a new deal with Disney >4/5 stars

I'm of the nuwho era and nuwho was always Tumblr as frick. But the difference is that in the 9th and 10th Doctor era the writing and the actors were good enough that the magic worked. Half of Tumblr wanted to frick David Tennant because the writing sold the quirky but in fact unfathomably deep Time Lord.
Everything went to shit with 11th, when the Doctor became a clown, doing clownish things because lolfunny and lmao. The quality of writing only decreased and decreased with each subsequent episodes.
11th is when nuwho becomes a parody of itself. The writing becomes nonsensical, and the Doctor a genuine moron.
Then 12th when they tried to become serious again but comically missed the point and realized, a little surprised, that they simply didn't know how to write good stories anymore. And then 13th when they abandoned all hope of good characters or good storytelling.
By the point of Black personwho, there is really nothing left of the series.
>But the difference is that in the 9th and 10th Doctor era the writing and the actors were good enough that the magic worked.
delusional, you must have been a toddler at that time so you're notalgic for it
those years were full of awful writing and the laziest plotting imaginable
here you have the exact opposite actually.
where 9 is the perfect doctor from a writing perspective, 12 is the best doctor from a performance perspective
9's performance is good but didnt have much time to shine, and 12's writing has some great moments but is more misses than hits

I have rewatched it. And if I did it again I would happily skip 8 of the 13 episodes.
>11th is when nuwho becomes a parody of itself.
You were born in the 90s weren't you.
2012-13 is exactly where, no matter when you started in 2005-08, so 5 to 15 in 2005 or 8 to 18 in 2008, you'd have aged out of watching by 2012. (a 5 year old in 05 turns 12 then, i.e. puberty, an 18-year-old in 08 turns 23, an age where you'd definitely have started working)
Of course, it can't be you changing over that period, so you have to make up that the show 'becomes a parody of itself'. You're moronic.
The only good year of RTD in 2005-08 was Ecclestone's
Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead are better than anything from series 1.

Huh? You’re posting on Cinemaphile. It’d literally all over the television and film industry. Of course people on Cinemaphile are going to call out shows and movies that push gross troony shit, like this… it’s gross. It’s strange, for someone who claims to hate both you have nothing to say when people push troony shit, yet as soon as someone calls them out you can’t help but open your mouth and seethe.
you're also probably one of those moronic youtubers who review the episodes and give them a 10/10 in the hopes that the BBC will notice you and give you a job on the show.
Then perhaps you should consider not making those key points on your advertising strategy. People talk about those things because the satellite media around the show highlights those things, the interviews highlight those things, the reviews, the dialogues in the show, everything. Controversy is the show´s marketing strategy. That´s what the show has to offer, dialogues about male pressing timelords that don´t understand "trans women" and "bigenerations".
Want to be mad at someone for those 2 million viewers? Be mad at whoever thought those dialogues were witty, be mad at whoever thought focusing marketing around race and sex in a show that´s traditionally been a family show about whimsical adventures.
And while i´m sure you´ll say this is hate speech let me tell you, it´s not, this is not hate, it´s indifference. People has tuned off because they just don´t care to be lectured about race and sex. They want whimsical adventures that take them as far away as possible from their own real life problems not to listen to somebody else´s problems, they want a show they can share with their families and kids or whatever.
You may be failing to see it but that´s all those numbers reflect, a disconnection between the product that´s being offered and the product the people want to consume. It´s not hate, it´s disinterest. People just don´t have the energy to deal with the writers issues with life, let alone the will to assume any kind of responsibility, they are drained and have problems of their own. They would welcome something everyone could relate to but are not going to make an effort to relate to something alien to them. It´s a lot of work empathy.
Maybe if the show was more subtle or aimed for common ground instead of antagonizing it´s potential audience it would do better. Just a thought. Normalization takes time.
Is being a homosexual the only thing that matters to homosexuals? I mean, I have two homos in my facebook feed. The only thing they post about is something about being homosexual. Everyone else posts about football, food, something they saw in the news, their kids or parents, how they just mowed the lawn, how can I fix this dent on my car, jokes, etc.etc.etc. The homos? Exclusively something about being a homosexual. Complete and utter obsession. Why?
When Trannant gays begged and begged for years for their spikey haired queer to come back to the role, and then they cried when RTD confirmed he was a gay homo. Honestly, they got what they deserved.
> I made the rule that he had to be on the landmine before the opening titles. I wrote pages and pages and binned them, because it just didn’t work. Other than that, the challenges were mainly that it’s quite complicated for a show like that to be stuck in one place so much. And to be in real time, and to arrange everything so that everything happens in this one spot. I’m not going to pretend that I didn’t fall back into writing Doctor Who fairly easily, though. I wrote a storming amount of it, so I do know how it works, and what the style is. Or, what my style of it is. It’s quite different from Russell’s style. It’s going to be a bloody shock, this one, I tell you, after the first two episodes!
>so far literally every episode of the reboot is just a rehash of something that happened already
GET HYPE
i didnt get hype when they brought tennant back because the desperation and 'PLEASE COME BACK' is plain to see, and this is no different
you killed doctor who already, theres nothing to be hype for and you cant fix it
Also says he's read next year's finale "for reasons that will become apparent" so either he's lying about this christmas being probably his last episode or he's doing one of the spin-offs.
>I made the rule that he had to be on the landmine before the opening titles
Makes sense, as Moffat's entire process is to take one idea he thinks is cool and write an entire episode that serves that one idea, no matter how moronic or tenuous it is
>I’m not going to pretend that I didn’t fall back into writing Doctor Who fairly easily, though. I wrote a storming amount of it, so I do know how it works, and what the style is. Or, what my style of it is. It’s quite different from Russell’s style. VNA level dark. It’s going to be a bloody shock of her life, this one, I tell you, after the first two episodes!
>RTD refuses to write a single episode during the Moffat era, saying he's "done with Doctor Who" >RTD is in fact not done with Doctor Who at all, becoming showrunner again a few years later >Moffat, to his credit, has no hesitation in writing episodes for either of RTD's eras
>a brown show
glad that we agree that it used to be a white show and now that brown hands have touched it its in the toilet, you have exceptional self awareness for a monkey
>OHILA: She would beg your help, as we beg your help now. The universe stands on the brink. Will you let it fall? Fast or strong, wise or angry. What do you need now?
DOCTOR: Zesty
OHILA: Zesty?
DOCTOR: I don't suppose there's a need for a doctor any more. Make me a Zesty homosexual now.
Piss poor writing, terrible acting
Dr. Who is dead, and now RTD and his Nigerian fricktoy are just violating it's dead corpse
Whatever writing talent RTD had evaporated up his own ass. The man is so ful of his own bullshit I am surprised he doesn't shit out little turds that look and sound just like him.
Oh, wait, OP, I.....
I've seen that RTD said he is know a fan of Star Trek after watching STD. Perhaps a biased thread but, which has been more mutilated? Star Trek or Doctor Who?
Star Wars, there's no way to get back what you could have had there with the choices made in TFA and TLJ
Even moving on is difficult, as now they're making a Rey movie that everyone's going to say should have been Luke's
Star Wars, there's no way to get back what you could have had there with the choices made in TFA and TLJ
Even moving on is difficult, as now they're making a Rey movie that everyone's going to say should have been Luke's
With both Who and Star Trek you could just ignore the dumb bullshit if you wanted to, so both are as mutilated as the other
people tell me the new doctor is stupid, but the last episode I ever watched the plot was resolved by a woman yelling at the sky and that magically got the doctor more regenerations.
Christmas special: The Doctor finds a monster and immediately faces it.
Episode 1: The Doctor finds a monster and immediately runs from it.
Episode 2: The Doctor finds a monster and immediately runs from it. "Doctor, you NEVER run from ANYTHING!"
What is she basing that on? In her experience up to that point the Doctor had run away from 50% of the threats he came across, so why was this time so unexpected to her?
>muh off-screen adventures that inform on-screen character development
I really fricking hate that Moffat started this bullshit. If it's not in the show, it didn't fricking happen.
RTD did it too though, eccleston talks about a whole kyoto adventure that we never saw in bad wolf and rose talks to mickey about a whole bunch of stuff she and the doctor did without him in boom town
Reminder that it was RTD's head canon that Nine had just regenerated in Rose and that Rose was only the companion he had travelled with and then in Day of the Doctor Moffat explicitly inserted a whole 100 year gap in there.
I don't mind that quite as much because they talk about it and it's not just some arbitrary gap you have to know about to make sense of what you're even seeing. There is ZERO indication that there's a 6 month gap of time between episode 1 and episode 2. >End of episode 1: Doctor and Ruby are in the TARDIS, "Where do you want to go?" >Start of episode 2: Doctor and Ruby are in the TARDIS, "Okay, I've decided where I want to go." >btw there's a 6 month gap between those two scenes because LOL FRICK YOU
I think Boom will be good.
Moffat is at his best with that kind of focused, constrained concept. It's when he lets himself sprawl out into complicated plots that he fricks up.
The actor is gay and he plays the Doctor very flamboyant, but so far has shown no attraction to men and even allusions to off-screen dalliances have been exclusively about women.
Finally watched the two episodes. Everything else aside you just can't do this show in 45 minute episodes man. It's plagued the entire revival. Everything feels like a pitch or proof of concept for a proper story centered around whatever the premise is.
>Doctor does nothing for 45 minutes >blows up a couple dozens Cybermen out of tens of thousands >fricks offs and never come back without having actually fixed the situation
and THIS is supposed to be NuWho's peak;
How would Brown Doctor Who solve this riddle?
if a female robot has 1 year old and the body of an adult
or if a robot has 18 years old and has the body of toddler
Which one is more acceptable to frick and why??
>it's disrespectful to william hartnell for the timeless child to say there were doctors before him!!!
folks when they find out he was only the first one when he was playing the character
I don't think the show itself actually states his age during Hartnell's era however, if you take what was said during other eras then First was 200-something when he stole the TARDIS.
I don't have a problem with Rooty Tooty Point & Ncuti, but I do have a problem with most of the things around him. At this point I'm primarily hornywatching Gibbo.
>DUUUUUUUUUDE >WHAT IF I TOOK A FILLER INCIDENT FROM CLASSIC BUT SPREAD IT OUT OVER 45 MINUTES >AND WHAT IF THE MINE MAKE THE PLANET EXPLODE!!!!!!

>DUUUUUUUUUDE >WHAT IF THE MAGICAL AFTERLIFE TIMESHIP FROM THE FAR FUTURE… >…STILL USES A CHAIN HOIST!!!! >DUUUUUUUUUUUUDE WE COULD MAKE SOME FUNNY STUNTS!!!

More like impossible to praise without mentioning race or sexuality lmao
Of course, they found the whitest woman they could to be a companion to the first black Doctor.
No problem, they're replacing her with a Muslim soon.
lmao i remember when people tried to make this a meme for like 1 day kek
white replacement is a right wing sexual fantasy
How is she muslim?

still inconclusive
I actually like the new series. The writing and show in general is much better than the Chibnall era. The visuals have never been better.
I think the outcry is from a very sensitive group of people who seethe whenever they see gays, blacks, or women.
Hello, MrTARDIS.
They made the 14th and 15th Doctors canonically gay and the political messaging is so hamfisted it transcends parody.
>chinballs was actually ok because now I saw a gay man
jesus christ, no.
The Chibnall era felt like a Coronation Street/Eastender show but in a sci-fi setting. The tone was so jarring.
Well said. Upvoted good sir!
>The visuals have never been better
The visuals and overall camerawork/directing was much better in the Moffat era IMO. That's what carried it even when the writing was lame. The new series feels way too artificial and Disneyesque in its aesthetic and presentation.
Camerawork I'll give you but the visual effects used in the Moffat era were still very basic by modern standards. Sometimes even janky.
>visual effects
Pointing the camera properly is responsible for like 90% of a show/movie's visual quality. The total time you see special effects on screen during a Doctor Who episode is usually a single minute out of forty five.
For a sci-fi show visual effects are very important. You cant feasibly argue that the effects aren't at their best now. Direction can be argued for but even then the current episodes are competent.
>For a sci-fi show visual effects are very important.
For a sci-fi show like The Expanse or Andor yes absolutely. But a show like Doctor Who doesn't rely on special effects nearly as much.
Entirely due to the old budget.
Read what someone actually says moron
Moffat's first and last series are the best that Doctor Who has ever looked. His first series had this weird dreamlike, fairytale look but it worked. I'd even say it took a lot of cues from Disney, in a good way.
The Pilot is another great example of what works. The TARDIS scenes and then the final scene of the Doctor inviting Bill to travel with him tell you everything about Doctor Who in less than 10 minutes.
Isn't this tiring? We know this is bait and you know it is hence why you did it. How many times will we do this song and dance?
until it stops working and we move on to another bait topic
haha baby pee pee poo poo!!!
snotty tissues and soiled nappies!!!
farts!!! haha spaceship farts!!!
>I think the outcry is from a very sensitive group of people who seethe whenever they see gays, blacks, or women
I never used to do this because the proportions of all three on TV matched their representation in the world outside my front door. Look at TV now. Then look at this:
>2021 UK Census
>0.54% - identifying as trans
>1.5% - identifying as gay or lesbian
>4.2% - identifying as black
Those babies were hot as frick
Settle down Albini
Does farting spaceships and terrible writing count as mentioning race or sexuality?
pretending farts aren't the pinnacle of human entertainment is extremely homosexual.
You're aware that RTD 1 started with giant green monsters that farted a lot.
and Space Babies featured a spaceship that looked like a giant ass.
What did he mean by this?
>Farting green aliens
Funny
>Farting homosexuals
Degenerate
Why did you make a new thread when there's still one up on the catalog you fricking moron?
So are you just hate watching or did you forcibly psyop yourself into believing you still enjoy this show?
Why is anyone even ATTEMPTING to imply this isn't peak Doctor Who. They've always done cheesy shit like this.
I assume you're just nitpicking because the protagonist is black now.
>Doctor who was always about gay flatulent Black folk in space
>look mum I said the word again
Doctor Who has always had stupid toilet humour. The fact that the Doctor is now black doesn't make it a new thing.
>Doctor who was never about sci-fi it was always about gay Black folk finding themselves
kek you gays really are pic related
You really have a lot of gay images saved for a supposedly straight man...
Does that bother you? Shouldn't you be more concerned at record low ratings.

yes, I stopped watching about halfway through whitakers run and haven't gone back yet. do you think that excuses your collection of pride flags?

If you're not interested in the tv show, frick off the thread.
We're still in this thread by the way, nowhere near bump limit

>Episode three of the new Doctor Who is called Boom, but a more accurate title would be Pffft
>It consists of Gatwa’s Time Lord standing on a landmine for half an hour while crying
>Moffat says in the programme notes that he wanted to write a story full of suspense and tension
>But there is none, because they’re hardly going to blow up the new Doctor, are they?

>The battlefield is patrolled by “ambulances” run by algorithms and controlled by an arms-dealing corporation
>Two: religion is bad
>I’m going to hazard a guess that Moffat is an atheist, because the gun-toting soldiers here wear dog collars and are “ordained Anglican marines”
>“Since when was the Church an army?” asks Ruby. “Since most of your history. You’ve been living in a blip,” replies the Doctor
>When a little girl explains that her mummy “got gathered up by God”, the implication is that she’s fallen for all that nonsense about heaven
>20 minutes later, this child is cheerily referring to her parent as “just dead”
>Moffat throws in little references for Whovians to pick up - the Doctor sings The Skye Boat Song, Tom Baker stepped on a landmine in GotD
>For most of the episode there are fat tears rolling down Gatwa’s cheeks
>Unfortunately this also means the Doctor has some soppy stuff to deliver
>“Snow isn’t snow until it falls,” he says, which alludes to the mystery surrounding Ruby’s parentage but is also completely meaningless
>You can’t escape the Disney influence, and not just with a set and costumes which look like Star Wars leftovers
>There’s a cute kid and a cheesy ending

>gives middling review because there's not enough bright colours

Is the new season okay even for hate-watching? Like is it so bad that its funny or just bad bad?
It's not bad at all. Just the usual outraged morons on Cinemaphile.
>It cannot be denied that Moffat is responsible for some of the best Doctor Who episodes in the early 2000s era, including ‘The Empty Child’ two-parter, ‘Blink’, and ‘The Girl in the Fireplace’
>‘Boom’ runs in the same vein, though Moffat skips the heightened monster element and focuses on the often-used trope of ‘the imprisoned Doctor’.
>we finally get a sense of who Fifteen is and, more importantly, who he could be
>The Doctor carries weight, and Gatwa can, too. In one scene, the Doctor guesses the exact weight of the object Ruby is holding down to the decimals, and quickly follows up with a stern and all-knowing quip.
>He also gets a moment to be bold, to be dangerous, when he warns that he’ll blow up half the planet if he is detonated
>When he and Ruby are both about to attempt this ill-advised stunt, he looks genuinely fearful, eyes brimming with tears
>Despite the bigger budget, Boom is still ugly as sin.
>Shrouded by clouds and painted over with a murky filter, it’s not the most impressive spectacle in the galaxy
>There’s no Steven Moffat agenda being pushed here, but it’s clear that his ability to do more with far less is so incredibly beneficial to Doctor Who

>If Gatwa’s charismatic, empathetic and scene-stealing performances in the previous episodes weren’t enough to convince you of the fact, then Boom is proof that Gatwa is clearly worthy of the title of The Doctor
>Moffat’s seasoned hand guides the narrative to depict the harrowing realities of capitalism and war, offering a stark portrayal of conflict and how weapons manufacturers profit from such terror
>Gatwa’s performance as The Doctor shines with his rare vulnerability
>though I do find it hilarious how in The Devil’s Chord, Ruby admits to The Doctor he is “never scared”, and even before that during his encounter with The Bogeyman, he does run away scared following their first encounter with the terrifying monster
>Gatwa’s performance as The Doctor displays a terrifyingly good depth of fear and determination rarely seen in the character
>It’s a masterclass in acting, something incredibly close to how perfect the electricity of Moffat’s writing paired with moments from both Smith and Capaldi
>Think the ending of Time of Angels dialled up to 100.
>Gibson’s performance captivates with its blend of strength, compassion, and unwavering determination
>As we inch closer to the finale, the anticipation builds to unravel the layers of Ruby’s past and her significance in the Doctor’s journey, leaving audiences (myself included) eagerly awaiting the revelations yet to come.
>Moffat charms the episode with his knowledge of the show’s history
>One is a callback to the very first time we meet 11, whilst the reference to 12 is for a tale he once told Clara in one of Moffat’s best.

I really wonder if that theory that the series is airing out of order is true, but it seems beyond the RTD skillset
RTD wanted BOOM to be the first episode but the Disney Goys said it was too dark and to start with something lighter.
They gave Space Babies 9/10 too, so they can’t be taken seriously. Same with most paid reviewers.
>Known for his haunting monsters and all-time classics like The Girl in the Fireplace and Blink, Moffat's return has been highly anticipated, but Boom spells something rather different for him.
>The Doctor accidentally stands on a sophisticated landmine, which is triggered by movement, and has to figure out a way to save himself, Ruby, and the entire planet without moving a muscle
>Most fans have already been won over by Gatwa's charismatic, witty, and energetic Doctor, but Boom shows a completely different side to him.
>Vulnerable, unsure and, let's face it, downright terrified
>With the Doctor being out of action, Ruby is forced to step up
>[Gibson's] performance beautifully reminds us of how young Ruby actually is and just how much she's been through as the mystery around her birth continues
>It's an absolute treat whenever they're both on screen, and together they seamlessly navigate some of the most intense scenes we've seen so far from them
>Where [eps 1 & 2] may have suffered from a slight lack of jeopardy for our TARDIS duo, there's no such concern here, with the Doctor, Ruby and an entire planet being one blink, twitch, or breath away from destruction at any moment
>It's not quite an all-time classic, especially when compared to Moffat's past work
>There are also some slightly jarring themes that don't always work – perhaps a victim of cuts and the timing of the episode.
>Tense, suspenseful, visually beautiful, heart-wrenching, and slightly unhinged, Boom is quite simply a recipe for a stellar Moffat return.

>Steven Moffat’s return to Doctor Who has been eagerly awaited by many (that line “are you my mummy” still haunts me today)
>with it being seven years since Moffat last worked on the beloved sci-fi show, has the former showrunner still got it?
>The answer is a resounding yes as his latest episode ‘Boom’ proves once again that no one can write Doctor Who quite like Moffat
>it’s an instant classic.
>the Doctor goes rushing in without pausing for thought, he accidentally steps on a landmine leaving him stranded
>he tells Ruby, “One wrong move and boom”
>The Doctor has never been more limited in his powers
>not only is he unable to move, but his pulse also can’t rise by even a beat
>He can’t run, he can’t reach for that trusty sonic screwdriver, and that clever mind can’t work overtime otherwise a surge of adrenaline would trigger the landmine
>The Doctor is desperate and powerless, quietly singing to himself in order to remain calm, continuing this season’s musical edge
>with the Doctor helpless, the companion has to step up to the plate
>The Doctor needs Ruby but she isn’t just going to simply follow his orders, she challenges him, showing a defiant edge
>this is Doctor Who and we still have moments of joy too
>amidst the danger Ruby pauses to stare at the sky, gazing at the planets in starstruck awe, overwhelmed by the magic of it all
>It’s a moment filled with fantastical wonder that will likely bring a tear to your eye
>‘Boom’ also celebrates the one thing that has always been at the heart of the sci-fi show: love.
>After all, it is the most powerful force of them all.

>the bad reviews are correct

I hate this contrarian homosexual board. They don't care about accurate data. They just want someone to agree with them.
morons obsessed with box office performance are hilarious with this, if a movie flops it's legit and we 'won' but if a movie does well it's all fake, the studio bought the tickets themselves and it's money laundering.
Agree. They're really desperate for outrage.

>[Moffat] is the screenwriter who gave us classic episodes like season one's [sic] two-parter Empty Child / Doctor Dances – which gave gas masks and the word "Mummy" a spine-chilling rebrand
>there was Blink, which is on a par with Buffy's Hush as a standalone piece of television that served up a villain so utterly terrifying and eerily identifiable they cannot be forgotten
>These lofty expectations were then raised higher yet by RTD's assertion that this third episode will be one fans discuss "for years to come"
>Moffat has earned his reputation as a master of Who horror
>With Boom, he makes a play for heart-pounding Who suspense.

Good enough does not mean good. Good enough means good enough.
it is practically universally agreed that 9th is almost a perfect incarnation of what 'THE DOCTOR' is. thats not because of his ears, its the writing
12 is THE DEFINITION of what The Doctor is. Absolutely FRICKING PERFECTION and a a MESMERISING performance from Capaldi.
The best modern Doctor, along with Matt Smith.
SO SO good.
No unwanted opinions please.
here you have the exact opposite actually.
where 9 is the perfect doctor from a writing perspective, 12 is the best doctor from a performance perspective
9's performance is good but didnt have much time to shine, and 12's writing has some great moments but is more misses than hits
Both did a great job in spite of the writing. Not because of it.
12 yes, 9 no, series 1 writing is kino, anyone who has rewatched who knows that series 1 has a 100% watch rate, and then series 2/3/4 and onwards are mostly filler
I have rewatched it. And if I did it again I would happily skip 8 of the 13 episodes.

Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead are better than anything from series 1.
tell me why in details
feelings are not arguments
Moffat wrote it.
you are just a fanboy as the RTD trannies then, if you cannot verbalize why
empty child/doctor dances was better than library, but library is the more remembered because river kept coming back
Dalek is better.

do you freaks ever stop dreaming about being surrounded by troonys? I literally suck dick and you're a bigger homosexual than I could ever hope to be.
>I literally suck dick
troony confirmed.
>yes, I do have a troony folder
why is this board so full of fricking benders these days? just come out to your parents already and stop projecting this horseshit all over Cinemaphile
but he is doing it to own the libs, right? That's why he has 4 petabytes of gay porn?
>Why do you have these images making fun of trannies, OBSESSED!
>Yes I do suck dick.
Quit samegayging, troony. Better yet, frick off back to your pedophile discord, tourist.
>my troony obsession does belong on Cinemaphile
you are genuinely beyond help
The guy with the wiener on his mouth and wig on his head is trying to call other people crazy.
>I can't stop thinking about troony wiener
Kek. HOMO.
keep bringing up trannies unprompted in every thread you go in, that will show everyone how sane you are.
>Showrunner is pro-troony.
>Villain is a troony
>NOOOO You're not allowed to critisize about them in a Dr.Who thread! OBSESSED! OBSSEEEESSSSSEEDD!
I'll do that once you promise you stop sucking dick. Also why are you so obsessed about this matter? What do you care? Trannies are more relevant in these threads than ever, because the show is full of them.
Ya, it’s really strange how it makes leftists, troonys, and gays so upset when you point out something is full of leftist, troony, or gay propaganda tbh, idk why they care so much when you call a spade a spade.
you already had an extensive troony folder before this episode of doctor who aired, you're not suddenly talking about them now because of it, you poofters have been derailing threads with your troony fantasies for years.
>tv shows and movies are full of troony and gay shit
>Cinemaphile is full of posts calling out shows and movies for having troony and gay shit in jt
Hmm… really makes you think huh? Maybe you should check out reddit if it makes you so upset when people point out the propaganda in your tv show.
>no you don't understand, I really am surrounded by trannies at all times
ok, have fun with that.
t. homosexual posting in a thread for a tv show with literal trannies and gays in it
Kek, cope and seethe homosexual. This is Cinemaphile, people are going to call out israeli propaganda in shows. If you don’t like it don’t post here, simple as.
>Cinemaphile is for crying about joos and propaganda
election tourists have absolutely killed this board
>election tourists
It’s been almost 8 years, go back to /lgbt/ with the rest of the hons
>it admits it's an election tourist.
jej
Do your parents support your transition?
Why does it make you so upset when we point out israeli propaganda in shows?
Ok tourist.
>keep bringing up trannies unprompted
>UHM EVERYONE I LITERALLY SUCK wienerS BTW
as soon as you stop first people will stop talking about you, freak
you can suck dick and hate trannies anon, these are two different things. plenty of gay people can't stand trannies for attaching themselves to the whole lbg movement.
''heres my opinion, also im gay btw''
using Cinemaphile wrong homosexual and the fact that i had to spell it out to this degree shows the kind of brain cancer required to enjoy sucking wiener
>quotation marks instead of greentext
>tells others they're using Cinemaphile wrong
don't @ me
>love sucking dick
>hate trannies
>hate troony obsessed homosexuals
simple as.
Then why are you posting in a thread for a show made by troony obsessed homosexuals, featuring both troonys and troony obsessed homosexuals, and then get mad when people who also hate troonys and troony obsessed homosexuals call the show and people involved in it out for their bullshit?
you feeling alright mate?
Are you? For someone who hates trannies and troony obsessed homosexuals you’ve spent god knows how long defending them and seething when other people call them out.
>Hates trannies and also hates troony haters
Can one learn to become this based?
>The people who hate troonys and people pushing troony shit everywhere are just as bad as the troonys and people pushing troony shit everywhere! Just consoom the propaganda and shut up!
What is this mental illness called?
Everything here is autism anon, all kinds of autism happening at once
>nobody talks about trannies
Everyone talks about trannies, it’s the zeitgeist of our generation
>Everyone talks about trannies, it’s the zeitgeist of our generation
lol frick off, 90% of the shit I hear about trannies in my life is on Cinemaphile, they're not everywhere, they're not in everything.
>you're silly and a bad person for noticing things and getting upset over them… but I am not silly or a bad person for getting upset when I notice you noticing things and getting upset about them
Kek, you’re literally moronic
seems pretty straight forward, trannies are fricking gross, but nobody talks about and makes us look at trannies more than obsessed morons who claim to hate them. they all need to hang together.
Huh? You’re posting on Cinemaphile. It’d literally all over the television and film industry. Of course people on Cinemaphile are going to call out shows and movies that push gross troony shit, like this… it’s gross. It’s strange, for someone who claims to hate both you have nothing to say when people push troony shit, yet as soon as someone calls them out you can’t help but open your mouth and seethe.
yes, tennant is a homosexual
zoomies think this is a shocking new development.
All I'm getting from this thread is that chuds are actually gay
Gays and trannies can't be chud you fricking chud.
>3 episodes in
>no weeping angels
What's going on?
The daleks have been retired also.
Someone should mashup the show's intro with Earth, Wind, and Fire
Not even bongs are watching this or caring enough to defend it
I'm a bong and I'm watching this
you're also probably one of those moronic youtubers who review the episodes and give them a 10/10 in the hopes that the BBC will notice you and give you a job on the show.
Reminder the weather is racist and homophobic!
Reminder that racism and homophobia are bad.
Then why does the media industry seem determined to turn people racist and homophobic?
David Tennant was unironically the worst thing to happen to Doctor Who
> I made the rule that he had to be on the landmine before the opening titles.
GET FRICKING HYPE.
Also says Russell, Phil and Julie let him showrun his story himself:
https://www.tvchoicemagazine.co.uk/tv/doctor-who/the-big-interview-doctor-whos-steven-moffat/
>so far literally every episode of the reboot is just a rehash of something that happened already
GET HYPE
i didnt get hype when they brought tennant back because the desperation and 'PLEASE COME BACK' is plain to see, and this is no different
you killed doctor who already, theres nothing to be hype for and you cant fix it
David Trannant (not long until he calls himself Daviana) gays are a cancer and killed nuwho before it ever had a chance
100%
5
all gay
Also says he's read next year's finale "for reasons that will become apparent" so either he's lying about this christmas being probably his last episode or he's doing one of the spin-offs.
>I made the rule that he had to be on the landmine before the opening titles
Makes sense, as Moffat's entire process is to take one idea he thinks is cool and write an entire episode that serves that one idea, no matter how moronic or tenuous it is
yeah and sometimes it doesn't work, but when it does work it's fricking good
Didn't he already do landmines twice already? What's his fixation?
when>?
Handmines in series 9 idk the other one
i dont remember
>I’m not going to pretend that I didn’t fall back into writing Doctor Who fairly easily, though. I wrote a storming amount of it, so I do know how it works, and what the style is. Or, what my style of it is. It’s quite different from Russell’s style. VNA level dark. It’s going to be a bloody shock of her life, this one, I tell you, after the first two episodes!
>RTD refuses to write a single episode during the Moffat era, saying he's "done with Doctor Who"
>RTD is in fact not done with Doctor Who at all, becoming showrunner again a few years later
>Moffat, to his credit, has no hesitation in writing episodes for either of RTD's eras
Moffat > RTD
It seems that RTD acknowledges Moffat as the better writer now. He's allowed him to act as showrunner for his episodes Boom and Joy to the World.
why does 2% of the world population gets to control the media
Unrelated to Doctor Who.
at least the girl has a actual healthy body for a short ass, just on thick , and the stockings show off those thighs
Literally perfect build.
>no ass, no breasts
why do ypipo love this so much? is it latent homosexuality?
and you are not but you are tricked into watch a brown show for a average female
that is more disgusting
>a brown show
glad that we agree that it used to be a white show and now that brown hands have touched it its in the toilet, you have exceptional self awareness for a monkey
>glad that we agree that it used to be a white show
nobody needs to agree, it is a fricking fact

DOCTOR: Zesty
OHILA: Zesty?
DOCTOR: I don't suppose there's a need for a doctor any more. Make me a Zesty homosexual now.
Piss poor writing, terrible acting
Dr. Who is dead, and now RTD and his Nigerian fricktoy are just violating it's dead corpse
Whatever writing talent RTD had evaporated up his own ass. The man is so ful of his own bullshit I am surprised he doesn't shit out little turds that look and sound just like him.
Oh, wait, OP, I.....
way too early homosexual
Did you know RTD is a homosexual
I've seen that RTD said he is know a fan of Star Trek after watching STD. Perhaps a biased thread but, which has been more mutilated? Star Trek or Doctor Who?
Star Wars, there's no way to get back what you could have had there with the choices made in TFA and TLJ
Even moving on is difficult, as now they're making a Rey movie that everyone's going to say should have been Luke's
With both Who and Star Trek you could just ignore the dumb bullshit if you wanted to, so both are as mutilated as the other
Rejoice!
RTD here, hello all you lovely Whovians.
I'll answer any questions (by any I mean not rude and not too spoilery) you ask in this thread in the next 5 minutes. Tick-Tock.
Is Ncuti bigger on the inside?
Not answering rude questions, sorry. Oh, come now is that only question that got asked? Really? All the things you could have asked?
Like, for example, who is the well known American actor in the finale? Unfortunate you didn't ask that... Might have dropped you a few clues!

people tell me the new doctor is stupid, but the last episode I ever watched the plot was resolved by a woman yelling at the sky and that magically got the doctor more regenerations.

Hell Bent > Heaven Sent
Doctor /N/
>Ecclestone
It's Eccleston.
Trannant lovers unironically look at something like Journey's End, The End of Time or the 60th anniversary specials and think "This is peak Dr Who!"
Did you know RTD went to Oxford University
Polytechnic?
OP once again completely correct.
Doctor Who is now fresh and fun again. Love it!

PURE KINO ALERT
PURE KINO ALERT
PURE KINO DROPPING IN 6 HOURS
Now I want to watch Fires of Pompeii.
Episode 2 is set 6 months after episode 1.
>muh off-screen adventures that inform on-screen character development
>End of episode 1: Doctor and Ruby are in the TARDIS, "Where do you want to go?"
>Start of episode 2: Doctor and Ruby are in the TARDIS, "Okay, I've decided where I want to go."
>btw there's a 6 month gap between those two scenes because LOL FRICK YOU
6 hours lads.
Save us Moff.
Oh, look!
It's the perfect couple!
<swoon>
I think Boom will be good.
Moffat is at his best with that kind of focused, constrained concept. It's when he lets himself sprawl out into complicated plots that he fricks up.
I was jerking my BWC when I noticed this thread. Just wanted to say: love doctor who. Nobody else opinion is relevant to me. Gonna goon now.
Good day.
Ackshually 2 dressed up as an old biddy in The Highlanders so the Doctor should cross dress in every episode
Has the 15th doctor actually done anything gay or is Cinemaphile just autistically screeching again?
Has he
>had a bf
>had gay sex
do you really have to ask?
Ah. I thought that would be the case.
The actor is gay and he plays the Doctor very flamboyant, but so far has shown no attraction to men and even allusions to off-screen dalliances have been exclusively about women.
Was Pertwee a gay Doctor?
I've never watched old who.
So Cinemaphile is just being autistic. Got it.
cope moar

Can’t get over the CGI corridor in that episode. Even darkening it would’ve been an improvement
had to save all the budget for that shot of the station exploding from the outside
It's not meant to make sense since it was at the very edge of the universe.
It's not meant to make sense since it was written by a homosexual hack and it is just fun
I was talking about the 15th Doctor, not the 14th.
Finally watched the two episodes. Everything else aside you just can't do this show in 45 minute episodes man. It's plagued the entire revival. Everything feels like a pitch or proof of concept for a proper story centered around whatever the premise is.

I like her legs a lot.
>it's disrespectful to william hartnell for the timeless child to say there were doctors before him!!!
folks when they find out he was only the first one when he was playing the character
How old was the Doctor when he was Hartnell?
I don't think the show itself actually states his age during Hartnell's era however, if you take what was said during other eras then First was 200-something when he stole the TARDIS.
Honest question, how can you watch gay brown Doctor ?
I don't have a problem with Rooty Tooty Point & Ncuti, but I do have a problem with most of the things around him. At this point I'm primarily hornywatching Gibbo.
