Apparently the working conditions were awful, the crew were being treated like shit, Noel Clarke and John Barrowman were being rapey weirdos, and Eccleston tried to get RTD to help out with the conditions and RTD said something to him like lol who gives a shit, we need the show to be a success, suck it up. Eccleston decided to leave and the BBC put out a statement to sabotage his future career prospects saying Christopher would get “tired” on set and wasn’t up to it or something.
Respect Eccleston even more now.

Personally I thought Luvic had a crush on Nyssa and would’ve got with her
KoT: she always thought she’d stay on Traken by that point. Heck im sure she saw herself as a Consul married to Luvic with a daughter named Nyvi. (Recently I decided there was a third person in the relationship, a strawberry blonde, grey eyed female peasant Trakenite named Solya, but she is… not even a proper OC by this point.) (but Traken is pro throuples this im p sure about, it just doesn’t like the consular nobility mingling with commoners, not even with the proctor or fosters.)
Logopolis: she realized she was actracted to both Tegan and Adric, and thought a throuple could be in the works. She thought that Traken was propably destroyed for a reason, still seeing herself as the true heiress to Traken Consular Nobility/Keepership instead of Luvic.
Castrovalva: Nyssa and Tegan became closer Allies and closer soulmates. They’re still mostly… unlikely Allies against the Master. Part of her still wants her old life back.
Four to Doomsday: She has learned of Serenity, apparently still there in the 30th century, now it has moved somewhere further than Traken and between the Milky Way and Isop galaxy. And has a blonde, female Keeper named Neema. She knows that Luvic and Solya likely became a couple there, without her. She still has somewhat of a vendetta against the master, propably still has a bit of a want of getting back into her throuple on Traken. But first… let’s get Tegan back to Heathrow. Nyssa thinks she’ll miss Tegan a bit, though.
Kinda: She spends time in the TARDIS. It’s a psychic sleep apparently. Propably communicating with Luvic on Serenity. Luvic is convincing Nyssa to be a Serenity Consul in a throuple with him and Solya.
Visitation: Nyssa is finally convinced. She’s sorta dating Tegan and will be in a throuple with Tegan and Adric once he grows up. Well, or at least she’s starting to move her bed between the two rooms and sleep with the other two. Maybe maybe she won’t be going on Serenity when all this is over!
Black Orchid: Time passes. Nyssa has let down a bit, now wearing an half ponytail and no makeup. Tegan has also mellowed down, not wanting to go to Heathrow anymore. Oh, it’s been a fair bit, the ages have caught up with the airdates. Tegan is 22, Nyssa 19, Adric 16. Ok maybe they haven’t really had the birthdays but. Close enough. So, they’re now basically roommates in some ways, they’ve been friends for a while. And maybe maybe this Ann is what Nyssa would be like had she grown there. She seems… more free. Maybe Nyssa should begin to free herself more, too. She although doesn’t think Earth is quite for her, and would rather be in one of those colonies for many kinds of aliens.
Earthshock: She tries to be more like Ann, and cracks up. She becomes louder and more exuberant, and Adrics death cracks her even more and brings her closer to Tegan. Maybe they are indeed dating, no matter how much Luvic and Solya or anyone want to be in a throuple with her. I think that’s also where she realizes she’s anti-Keepership. And that Traken/Serenity wasnt/isn’t all cracked up to be.
Time-Flight: she realizes she has forgiven the Master for taking over her fathers body, and she has truly realized she was indeed dating Tegan, they’ve even had their first kiss somewhere offscreen, they’re practically engaged, yet, she had to go. Nyssa misses her, they write to each other.
There is propably a story between TF and AOI where the Doctor and Nyssa go to Serenity and tell Luvic and Solya that no, Nyssa isn’t going to stay on Serenity or be with them. That Nyssas home is now with the Doctor and sometimes Tegan.
Arc of Infinity: Yay Tegans back finally they can be girlfriends together without Luvic and Solya (who aren’t really exes of Nyssa, no more than Adric is) and finally meeting the cousins! And yes I think that there was a time that Tegan, Nyssa, Colin, and Robin were all rooming together on Earth.
By now, Tegan is 23 and Nyssa 20.
Snakedance: Nyssa starts wearing Earth clothing. After all, she has a girlfriend there, and in-laws in Colin and Robin.
Mawdryn Undead: Nyssas clothing becomes Earthier. She becomes more used to Earth and also gets to know the Brig. and to him, she isn’t an alien girl whose father got possessed by the Master! To the Brig, Nyssa is just that, a girlfriend of Tegan!
Terminus: she goes to work there, not thinking of herself as too different than the human crew members of the zone. She’s grown up a lot. But she knows that she will go back to Tegan when she retires. They write to each other, Nyssa sometimes has contact with Serenity and Neema, too. In fact, Nyssa and Neema are friends. When Nyssa is finished with Terminus, she goes back to Tegan.
They get married, go to Sarah Janes funeral, in PoTD Nyssa wasn’t there bc she was running errands somewhere else (perhaps even on Serenity or nearby/other planets/Isop Galaxy!?!) but usually, tegan, Nyssa, Colin, and Robin are still an happy little family.
Basically, to me the change happened through Black Orchid, Earthshock, and Time-Flight.
Oh and to me Tegan has been on both Traken and Serenity. In fact there eventually will be a lot of humans living in Serenity too, with Serenity culture becoming a bit of a mix.
