I kind of feel the same way about most American comedians. He's clearly the worst example of it, at least in terms of famous comedians, but I've seen plenty of shows from people like George Carlin, Louis CK, etc where they do the whole thing of never getting to the point. They start with an observation, riff on it a little, OK, funny, suspense building, here comes the punchline.... Nope, on to the next bit. This was particularly annoying with a certain Louis special I watched, can't remember which one.
I think it's probably an issue with the whole "workhorse career comedian" thing, which seems to be a mostly American phenomenon. When you write a new show every year and constantly tour comedy clubs, I suppose you're bound to put out some mediocre shows.
You go to the comedy cellar and on a good night you’ll see 5 people you’ve never heard of doing this shit for a decade + making 6 figures and delivering fantastic original material. Then you see one of them put out a special and it fricking blows. A lot of these guys either get nervous or neuter their act, and to be fair the same jokes that can make a room full of people laugh don’t have enough substance to translate
American comedy is very very big on story telling, all the most famous comedians were story tellers. The quippy funny guys like Mitch Hedberg are few and far between. Nowadays zoomers are really into crowdwork because they can't fricking go anywhere without making it about them so guys like Matt Rife, Stavros, Mark normand, etc all do crowd work now because it's easy and you don't have to write shit if you have a quick wit and some life experience.
He's better as podcast host, but hes not as bad as people make him out to be. Funny bits by him imho are that Kardashians/Caitlin bit (maybe hanging out with crazy females turns you into one)
Or his bit about humans drinking milk
Most well known standups are better, but hes still miles ahead of Amy Schumer, Bert Kreishner or Dane Cook.
his specials were funnier than Cinemaphile lead me to believe. I thought it would be all stool humping and dude weed jokes, but he has some good bits about women not inventing anything, homos, and trannies.
he's no chapelle or early burr, but he's better than 90% of modern comedians.
Burr is the textbook example of a guy with no jokes. His rants are fun to listen to, but I don't laugh. Maybe the most overrated comic of all time.
>whaddaya mean you was punchin the muffins, bill, hows about you punch the line o' this ol' set up 'ere, aint nobody ever taught you joke structure? knock knock, who's there and all that good stuff?

I was forced to watch a comedy special with a guy named trevor noah recently and it was more of a 10th grade neolib lecture than telling jokes. The guy was a complete moron too, he kept going on about how germany doesn't "bury their history" but failed to mention the deep resentment the postwar generation had for their parents that erupted into violence before that open attitude came about
Some of his podcasts were great. His stand up always was aweful. Most American comedians stopped being funny when they tried to cater their material to a woke and multicultural audience. Its just absolutely toothless. I bet there are loads of small time American comedians that are funny but they get no attention.
Shane Gillis found the perfect formula to keep his edge without having his career ruined and I'm guessing a lot of edgy comics will copy that going into the future. They tried hard by getting him fired from SNL, but he countered by incorporating credible deniability into every offensive joke and throwing a few black wiener jokes out to appease the rabid nutjobs who were looking his blood
>monkey moronic
Hes no Michio Kaku or Sam Harris, but to think Rogan is dumb is actually pretty moronic. Then again, we can't all be as smart as you Anon.
Rogan is a dumb guys idea of a smart guy. He’s conned you in to thinking he’s not full of shit. Anyway I’ve got a video on bears for you to jerk off to.
Joe was always more of an Impresario in comedy. He talks so much about being a comedy purist but people forget he's famous for all kinds of things that aren't his stand-up
UFC Commentary and his Mixed Martial Arts background
Hosting Fear factor
His podcast
When somebody ask who Joe Rogan is i guarentee most people say "Oh yeah Joe has a really interesting podcast with cool guest and he also does UFC stuff" Nobody is like "He's a comedian and a podcast host"
I'll say it once again: Americans cannot be funny intentionally. Only by accident. Alex Jones is funnier than any American comedian in history. >t. Brit.
Another example. Go to a Trump rally and you'll find people there funnier than any comedian. Talk to a few of them and within minutes you'll find someone who thinks George Soros wants to take the gunz!
>within minutes you'll find someone who thinks George Soros wants to take the gunz!
Worst example you could use to identify schizos. Soros is very openly anti-gun and funds a lot of groups lobbying for tighter gun control. Not sure if you're moronic or some schizo trying to make Brits look bad, who knows
People like Joe Rogan and they aren't necessarily connoisseurs of stand up so, yeah, millions of people would jump at the chance to pay $500 a ticket to see him. That's pretty much the calculus for his on going success at standup in 2023.
He is the funniest comedian since George Carlin. That is a fact, not an opinion
Name one (1) Joe Rogan bit.
the only bit that kinda made me laugh, and even then it went on way too long
I like his bit about cats being barely domesticated.
?si=vDwrQ1oFRdNkXRGH
He relies too much on being physical rather than saying something actually funny

He's hit and miss.
civilians wouldn't get it

His live standup has its moments, but I don't seek him out like I would Burr or CK.

no and you can tell all the comedians he hangs around with think he's a hack and just do it for the publucity

He's funnier just riffing with people in a conversation. A sit down comedian. His material is terrible because he's fricking monkey moronic.
Jim Norton is like this too, his standup sucks but he's funny enough in conversation.
>monkey moronic

You're a grown man who lives with his mom. You aren't smart troon.
Touched a nerve when they start guessing. We can’t all be chronic masturbators who would go to the gym but are all out of Pre, like you.
>Voluntarily consumes pseudo intellectual slop to stimulate the dying neurons since you dropped out of school
Suck it down goyim.
You used reddit NPC phrases, don't try to pretend now. Go back.
>dumb guys idea of a smart guy.
>conned
go back
Meh, sounds to me you think of people as dumb or smart. I think theres allot of grey area in there. Rogan made allot of smart choices tbh
the ranting israelite format was never funny
Been a Rogan fan for nearly a decade now. I've not watched a single moment of his standup
no surprises how youve been a fan for that long then
Just his friends.
All standup is fricking garbage
I just think that humans are the moth, and AI is the cocoon that will spawn the mechanical butterfly

Yes as I don't care for comics who don't have a deep understanding of rubber guard flow. I also enjoy the televised work of Ed O'Neill.
