I prefer em to the first movie, they retroactively made me like the whole thing even more.
How were these received on release?
I walked out of the theatre after the 3rd and my first words were "what the frick was that shit?"
poorly
End of Reloaded with the Architect scene and Neo stopping sentinels with telekinesis in the real world left many of us with like oh no this is not star wars or Jerry Bruckheimer, so by the 3rd movie they were already skeptical and didn't go that good.
For many today it's still like that apparently while others didn't give up and got into the rabbit hole.
I was 12 and I watched it with my cousin and 3 of his friends, I was pretty sheltered and my parents strictly abided by movie age ratings
obviously reloaded was the greatest movie I had ever seen
Reloaded is better than 1
Reloaded's first 50 minutes or so are really boring, but the rest of it is easily more enjoyable than the first one. Revolutions is pretty shit though.
They're properly rated.
They suck ass compared to the first but they had their moments, Like the ghost twins or the french guy.
Think it was just too much focus on drama in Zion.
I like reloaded but I hate revolutions
There are Matrix fans that liked the greater philosophical question of what is real more, and those that liked the substance of the plot more. And the latter can further be divided into those that liked the stuff in the matrix like the fight scenes more or the real life defense and survival of humanity more.
The consequence of that is that the sequels don't know what direction to go, most notably with resurrections, it can't decide whether it wants to go all 4th wall breaking, talking about Warner Brothers and stuff, or genuinely make us care about the new Zion they built in the story.
You’re moronic. The sequels are great because of their expansion on the philosophical questions. You’re clearly too much of a brainlet to get them. Most likely a christcuck.
I didn't say the philosophical questions are necessarily bad, but the fact that they can't clearly decide what direction to go is what hurts the story. How am I supposed to honestly care about the characters in the real world when the movie is basically wink wink nudging me that it is all stupid anyway in resurrections?
If they fully committed to the fourth wall breaking angle I wouldn't complain about that but it doesn't work together.
It's like deadpool talking to the camera about the movie and then honestly trying to be emotional about his girlfriend being kidnapped, 4th wall breaks don't work like that
Nope, you’re moronic. The wall of text response also proves this. Stick to watching YouTube essays, little zoomshit.
Frick off ADHD moron
It’s not ADHD it’s having a good zoomer moron detector
No, you just have the attention span of a goldfish
Cry more zoomie, I’m not reading your shitty posts
>being this assblasted over someone barely criticizing the matrix sequels
>resurrections
Leave that shit out of this thread
This. I don't even think about it in terms of a sequel, it's just moronic troony fanfic. It's like treating Indiana Jones as something more than a trilogy.
>or the real life defense and survival of humanity more
Prequel trilogy syndrome. For the time they were trash but the bar has fallen so low these days that they seem good compared to the shite that comes out now
They definitely aren't as bad as people made them out to be. Also, I remember renting the Animatrix in 2003 and HATING it. I rewatched it for the first time last year and it was a complete 180 for me. Animatrix is amazing. So many great shorts. High quality animation. The Wachowskis had a story to tell and the sheer ambitiousness of it was exemplary by itself.
Or... is right and I just have Stockholm Syndrome.
>The Wachowskis
*the Wachowski brothers
They identify as women, who are they hurting
>They identify as women, who are they hurting
Society at large.
>inb4 anyone brings up the green tint
>inb4 that comparison of Trinity pointing the gun in the first movie gets posted
superman is boring because he is always good and invincible (besides muh kryptonite shit)
matrix sequels became boring because neo became techno superman (muh trinity kryptonite)
third movie was basically a war movie. War movies are boring
>Muh war is bad.
>The young and innocent don't deserve it blah blah
Neo died
by sacrificing himself to preserve zion. That would be like if Zod hostaged the entire world and forced superman to fly himself into a blackhole. moron
Stick to capeshit unironically
>outing yourself as a dimwit with no coherent response
concession accepted
the sequels literally states neo is just another npc created by the matrix he has no will or power he is fated to repeat this cycle forever. How thre frick is he a superman character? Even the dogshit 4th movie shows us how miserble he is.
Matrix Reloaded features some of the greatest and most memorable martial arts scenes in American history, even to this day they stand out as some of the best. There has been almost nothing in cinema that has matched Neo vs The Merovingian and his men, or the highway fight scene vs the twins and the agent.Reloaded stands out as the best in the series, and one of the best action movies ever created.
you post a scene that is the same exact scene from the finale of the first film and here you are claiming reloaded is great. hackneyed, rehash, uninspired. these are words that more accurately describe reloaded
No, the words you are looking for are original, incredibale, mind bending action. It's not the same scene as the original, it's Neo demonstrating to the Merovingian that he is the one, the scene with Agent Smith has totally different ramifications, I. E. when NEO jumps into him right after stopping the bullets and becomes forever enmeshed with agent Smith, this sets up everything between them for the next 2 movies.
LotR, Matrix sequels, Star Wars prequels, and PotC basically hammered out modern cinema within the space of a few years. Mind boggling productions and creativity.
I just hit up trilogy and I'm inclined to agree. Watching the second two back to back did seem to work better for sure, it really is closer to a movie cut in half than two movies which might be why people trash the third one so bad, you're watching the end of the series, it's winding down. The first one is nice and tight with good pacing.
I highly recommend the Animatrix, especially to animation and voice acting fans. Some of these shorts were hard to leave, be in some cool world for 15 minutes then the next, is that aw man feeling. Idk kind of hit me how comfy anime could be so I'll think I'll look into it.
>is closer to a movie cut in hal
Cause it is, it's basically one whole movie, they were shot back to back.
they're just as awful as they have always been. these films were cash grabs after the unexpected smashing success the matrix was. there's just nothing going on in these films so they are all crammed with filler, a total slog to watch
Zion battle scenes were kino, especially the mechs
Shame that there were no characters we cared about present.
I like all three of them. A fantastic trilogy plus Animatrix.
thats the whole revolutions movie + a dbz tier fight at the end
So? It was awesome. We'd already seen everything inside the Matrix. Audiences were clamoring to see the real world battle and the machines go hog wild. It was great.
Reloaded had some great moments but even at the time some of the CGI was awful. Highway scene, Architect, and the soundtrack were great. Plus the ending left you with loads of questions and speculation, it was pretty good overall.
Revolutions was OTT and had some terrible subplots like the annoying teenager with his ammo-wheelbarrow. Garbage ending, it was such a letdown. Pic related, my face when leaving the cinema.
nah, the CGI was awesome. It only looks "awful" to little b***h nitpickers high off their own farts expecting for some reason that they can go through every frame of a movie and not tell what is cgi and what isn't
2+3 should be edited down to a single 3 hour movie that cuts out scenes that didn't work or went on for far too long
It was perfect as is. Not like you had anything better to do.
Both has good moments but they are still shit.
