That's actually true, which is how I know the intelligence level of Cinemaphileners. Thanks for not giving me any examples. I'll be here filtering threads full of unintelligent people while people tell me what they think intelligent people are like.

obvious examples are people like feynman or tversky
but ipso facto, intelligence makes you better at everything. that's literally he definition of intelligence. the onus is on you to prove that it makes you better at everything EXCEPT socializing, even though increases in intelligence probably evolved to make us better at being social.

anyone who tells you it doesn't do this is just coping, having to rationalize their opinion of themselves as "intelligent" while that's contradicted by how much other people hate them.

Being good at social interaction can be learned. It honestly comes natural to just about everyone, but some people put mental barriers on themselves that hinder them.

No, I completely agree with you. If someone can't get normalgays to like them, then they aren't smart. Being liked is as simple as acting like a person that the other guy likes. If you can do that, then you're smart. I don't like a single person on Cinemaphile, for example.

my opinion is that everyone who struggles socially is actually moronic, and everyone who denies this is moronic and in profound denial

Other way around. Intelligent people overthink too much and are often bad at socializing compared to their more relaxed "normal" peers.
If a person knows how to use their intelligence to their benefit, they can be pretty good socially, but stupid people rarely struggle on that front. Same reason why intelligent people are suddenly good conversationalists after a few drinks, their inhibitions and neuroticism are lowered.

He is jaded because he was betrayed by his wife, who opted for a different medical procedure (though this is only revealed someway into the show) than the one he wanted, which resulted in not only lost functionality of his leg but severe chronic pain, the severity of which lead to a vicodin addiction.

Yes, chronic pain and being a doctor. Being a doctor fricking sucks and basically exists for people with the family background to become a lawyer or engineer but without the sociopathy or the intelligence, respectively, to become either. So they’re allowed to make up for it with 80-hour weeks and a life of misery to make as much as a mid-level programmer.

      >or the intelligence, respectively, to become either
This is how I know you're not a doctor. It's much, much harder to get into medical school than law school. Law school is actually pretty easy to get into, because there's no real gatekeeping. Med school has legit gatekeeping that prevents a lot of people from getting in, but those who do get in are basically guaranteed jobs post-graduation.

        Anonymous

To get into med school, like every other kind of high education, all you need is money. This is why everyone is decked out with student loan debt. There is no gatekeeping, as long as you can pay for it that's all they care about.

Unless you want to go to some prestigious school somewhere on the east coast. Even then, no one knows where their fricking doctor went to school at nor do they care. All anyone cares about is whether their insurance will pay for it or not.

Doctors in hospitals are one of the most damned people on earth. Imagine studying for 6 years, being left in a constant pupil state-of mind, with your self esteem equal to mush shit from years of dealing with authocratic profs who are arrogant and buttholes just like you will become soon. Then comes the years of being in medical residency. Again, you're just a little squirmy worm in the eyes of the arrogant homosexual doctors. And that keeps on until one of the old fricks dies or gets fired and you can become a doctor now and frick smaller people over.

And that's without having constant pain. So yeah, he's an butthole, but the pain and being a frickin' doctor made him that way.

People with slightly above average intelligence tend to act like pricks after seeing "smart" people act like that in movies and TV. Actually smart people act charismatic and friendly because they understand the need to have people on their side and have the mental discipline to go through the process even if they don't actually like people. Midwits will think I'm talking about sociopaths.

      >Actually smart people act charismatic and friendly because they understand the need to have people on their side

Absolutely. Consider this: You're the smartest man on the planet, and a bunch of Black folk wants to kill you. How will you big brain out of that one? Hide? Shoot them? Maybe they have guns. The smartest possible thing would be to have other people shoot them, and charisma would come in handy there.
If you're alone, then intelligence is quite useless, because you'll still lose to a group, which is why it's important to be liked. If someone can't be liked, then they aren't smart enough.

This is true. When I was doing my math degree, math students and profs were some of the nicest people I've encountered, aside from 1 or 2 extremely intelligent but bitter professors. I'd say that jerks are usually a product of being ugly or having to deal with the general public every day. Ugly people are usually treated poorly, so it's a retaliatory action to be a dick.

he isn't even a "massive prick" and it's my most hated part about the show. if they wanted anybody to make sense when they were going on some melodramatic tirade about how bad he is then they should have actually written him as a BAD guy. oh no this mangled cripple with an opioid addiction, no wife, no kids, living in a sad roommate situation with his cancer riddled friend says some sort of abrasive things some time with a comedic undertone - WATCH OUT! we better belittle and gaslight and frick with him and even sometimes his patients to "teach him a lesson" about humility and being a better person

    fricking moronic.

Believe it or not most Mongolian basket weaving behavior is way beyond “massive prick” and into “subhuman” territory.
If you make rude sarcastic comments at work that is basically as nasty as you can be in a work environment without getting fired over it.
If you called someone “fricking moronic” even as a doctor you’d be at best pressured into finding other work if not fired outright.

I completely believe that, which is why I don't think there's even one doctor on Cinemaphile. A doctor would come here and think
        >why would i speak to these people
and leave. I can stand this place regardless of how bad it gets, because I've spent my life on Cinemaphile, and I have nowhere to go. A person in a well paid profession would not have to feel like that.

Why is literally every doctor I’ve ever met, like several dozen different people, eternally trapped in the Eve stage of anima development?
Oh right, because a doctor is just a spoiled brat that failed out of engineering.

He was talking about the people of this website, and not House, but you clearly didn't comprehend his post. When he said
          >Mongolian basket weaving behavior
He meant the way the people of this website act.

I think the post was really good, and it's why I refuse to believe that a doctor would browse Cinemaphile. A doctor should be smarter than me, so what are they doing here? Who would they speak to? There would be no one. It really makes no sense.

        >If you called someone “fricking moronic”
that's basically what he does though, minus the sarcasm and innuendo. I'm pretty sure all doctors do this tho, even if they wait for you to leave the exam room

        >If you called someone “fricking moronic” even as a doctor you’d be at best pressured into finding other work if not fired outright.

        >Friends that actually give a frick about you.

Did he have those? He had co-workers, but he always seemed to be alone outside of work. I didn't envy him, and he seemed like a really sad person. I'm equally sad, so that's how I know it's not the kind of life you want to have. I don't think House even had a family.
Anyway, you'll be okay. You just need to suffer this shit life, and the next life will be better.

Wilson was his friend no matter what.

I had feeling thst his team was giving a frick about him despite being an butthole

          >Wilson was his friend no matter what.

Sure, I'll agree Wilson was his friend, but that's still one friend and no family. You say his team "gave a frick" about him, but I don't think they were friends. House was like a teacher, and they were his students; That's like a professional relationship, and not one of mutual respect, which is real friendship.
When I imagine having friends, it's always a group. Why have one friend when you can have three? The logic behind that for me is
          >female friend (aka girlfriend)
          >male friend
and then I was like, why doesn't the guy friend have a girl? So now the group is four.

Why do people here always find it hard to believe that i'm a doctor? This place used to be the spear head of global culture, why wouldn't intelligent people still inhabit this place as old bad habit?

You didn't answer my question, so don't even bother replying. I find it hard to believe you're a doctor, because I'm not a doctor and I don't like anyone here, so you should like them even less.

I'm finnish. But why are you here if you don't like people here? I already explained to you that this place used to be the spear head of global culture and it's just an old bad habit for me to come here. Yeah people here are more chuddish, demented and negative than in the old good times.

              >why are you here if you don't like people here?

I'm glad you asked. I was here on Cinemaphile when everyone was like me, and that's why I'm still here. They're gone, but I'm not, because they had things in the real world, and I don't.
I'm kind of glad they're gone, because Cinemaphile used to be majority white, and if everyone is gone, it means the white people left. They shouldn't have to be aroud non-whites even on the internet.

When I was a teenager, I went to public school. Did I choose to go to public school? No, I had to go, because my family couldn't afford a good school. Cinemaphile is just public schoool, so don't ask me why I'm here. I'll be here until you're all gone, because I'm not like any of you, and this is the only place I have.

Wasn't there a hole subplot about how his leg pain was mostly in his head? I remember Cuddy giving him saline injections in his spine instead of morphine and him feeling instantly better. There's also that episode where he starts jogging and is completely fine for some reason.
