it's really, really, really good. Top tier atmosphere, scares and cinematography. The acting isn't Friedkin autism tier, but it's more than adequate for a horror film and Scott is great. The visuals are almost as good as the first film, but distinctly different.
this is the only movie I'm scared to rewatch just because I seen it when I was like 9-10
would probably think it's kinda silly if I watched it now for the first time 2bh
I was in the same boat - rewatched it and whilst it no longer scared me like it did when I was too young to watch it, I appreciated it far more as a fantastic film
It's crazy to me that Friedkin doesn't seem to be held in the same regard as other directors given the fact he gave us at least 3 masterpieces
whereas other horror movies are scary then you forget them this movie's look and atmosphere just feels evil from start to end. how the frick did friedkin do it?
I actually disagree with Friedkin, the deleted scene where Merrin explains why he thinks the possession is happening is necessary. People don’t pick up on the fact that possession is as much about bystanders as it is about the possessed. Also I have never seen any reactor pick up on the moment where Merrin, after sending Karras away, holds Reagan’s hand when he starts the rite again. Beautiful moment.
It’s one of the greatest movies ever but if you watch it to get scared look for something else, not because the movie isn’t effective in building dread and create shocking images, but because it’s been parodied so much you will be thinking of the jokes when the famous scenes happen.
as entertainment is succeeds wildly, switching between pure schlock and genuinely well made surrealist freak outs. A bad serious film but an excellent b picture.
Yes.
everything old almost always does because everything is garbage now.
LOTR trilogy makes zoomers cry after watching it for the first time because none of them realize how good things were just 2 short decades ago.
Watched it once when I was 14. Slept like shit for a week, bad dreams and stuff.
My mind was virgin cause i hadnt been desensitized by gore online. Zoomers won't understand this cause they grew up online being exposed to all kind of shit on efukt or whatever, but things were different in the early 2000s on my 3rd world shithole.
Nah it's fricking SHIT, slow, and gay.
>OH NO IS THAT A SPLIT SECOND FRAME OF THE HECKIN DEVILRINO?? AHHHHHHHHHH
that's from the shitty directors cut
Yes
No it’s fricking boring
It’s still pretty creepy to me
I remember when the director told refn he was a moron and his movie was trash.
YEs...because i've just ordered it for £3 on Bluray and added to my physical collection.
The first girl i let have sex with me will be very impressed.
>i let have sex with me
I used to think it was shit ten years ago when I was young now I'm not a zoombrain and can enjoy the kino
You don't grow out of your generation dumb frick.
no but picrel does
This is a meme. Legion as a book was OK, but this film is corny. Even WPB and George C. Scott said it was shit lol.
it's really, really, really good. Top tier atmosphere, scares and cinematography. The acting isn't Friedkin autism tier, but it's more than adequate for a horror film and Scott is great. The visuals are almost as good as the first film, but distinctly different.
worth watch?
>CARP IS... LE BAD?!?!
what was his problem
This is an ok flick but definitely overrated by internet people who think it's some hidden gem
name 5 better 90s horror films
3 people will tell you different stories about it being shit but they are really only one person, and they're a liar.
of course. 50 years of knock offs and possession films since and not one of them has surpassed the crucifix scene.
No but the 3rd one is kino.

homie. wow you are gay.
are you gay homie wow?
this shit is fricking insane if true
The Exorcist is fantastic, but it's also an actual film with characters and story.
Don't expect le ebin paranormal activity 70 minutes of watching people sleep followed by 15 """"terrifying""""" minutes of pots banging about
This. Its a really great film that has disturbing and terrifying parts, not some lame screamfest paint by numbers shit to appease cringe horror fans.
No. It’s slow and boring. I fell asleep 3 times.
Yes, and so does the third. we don't talk about the second
Yes, it's one of those storied classics that actually deserves its reputation
this is the only movie I'm scared to rewatch just because I seen it when I was like 9-10
would probably think it's kinda silly if I watched it now for the first time 2bh

Exorcist, The French Connection, Sorcerer, To Live and Die In LA?
Frick, I forgot TLADIL - you're right anon, 4.
You also forgot Cruising where Al Pacino learns how to be a gay guy to catch a killer
I liked Cruising, but I don't hold it in the same regard as the others
same with Killer Joe
Yeah definitely not masterpiece level
Cruising is his number one movie for me
whereas other horror movies are scary then you forget them this movie's look and atmosphere just feels evil from start to end. how the frick did friedkin do it?
no. most overrated horror movie of all time. not bad just overrated
>does it hold up?
>no because it's not bad
Exorcist III has more rewatch value.
Yes. The only thing that's dated is the child swearing

Ninth Configuration and Dominion are better.
If only for the atmosphere, yeah. That opening shot still sets such a fantastic tone
Yes
Yeah it’s much more well constructed than many modern horror movies. It’s kino
no one directed (and occasionally tortured) actors better than Friedkin
absolutely, but 3 does even better
It’s one of the greatest movies ever but if you watch it to get scared look for something else, not because the movie isn’t effective in building dread and create shocking images, but because it’s been parodied so much you will be thinking of the jokes when the famous scenes happen.
Here's the real question.
Do THIS hold up?
it never did
If you were Cinemaphile savvy you'd get on the 'Exorcist 2 is the best one' train right now.
as entertainment is succeeds wildly, switching between pure schlock and genuinely well made surrealist freak outs. A bad serious film but an excellent b picture.
The movie is shit, but young me jerk offd so much to it on DVD, peak Linda Blair, that it gives me something, like, a masturnostalgia or something.
Even if you hate the movie, the angiogram scene is medical prodecure kino
didn't the madman actually fricking film the real deal
Yes.
everything old almost always does because everything is garbage now.
