This is why western animation is dying out, then they don't have a job at all. It's so weird how you read about FLCL being an experimental anime to test new programs, try new techniques, and to push themselves to the limit. Then Spiderverse is the western equivalent and people whine it was too hard while the FLCL people came out happy for the opportunity. Where are the people with passion?
I agree with you but comparing FLCL to Spiderverse isn't the same
FLCL was a 6 episode series that probably took less than a year and you can tell where they cut corners despite the cool animation bits while Spiderverse is 1 part of a bigger movie that probably took 4 years to make
I'd imagine if FLCL took 4 years everyone at Gainax at the time would have hated it, Anno's depression would've gone into maximum overdrive
The point still stands but this is apples and oranges
I feel like it's a little ironic to use FLCL as a comparison here, considering that it's now being used to churn out soulless "continuations" of something that was already complete.
It doesn't really change the fact that the original crew did something great, but you could argue that it was lightning in a bottle. Not every popular anime is as well crafted and cared for by its crew.
Where is the Twitter screenshot of the animators saying that? I want it to shove on the faces os some annoying spidrerverse fans I know, it will give them cognitive dissonance.
Yes. The whole meta thing worked fine for 21 Jump Street and Lego, but with Spiderverse it just feels like writers bending reality to make a point to seem smarter than they are. >Look, we might’ve taken a big shit on everything Spider-Man stands for, but we’re fans because cameo!
He can be as big a piece of shit as he wants as long as his movies keep coming out great. Tough breasts for the animators, the industry isn't a place for pussies
>X (Twitter) Thread
Yeah, they’ve made the same movies 6 times now, at what point are people going to get sick of meta bullshit?
They'll get sick of them when they stop feeling smart for getting it
Is Phil Lord the next John K?
Isn't he a duo-team with Christopher Miller? Why isn't Miller getting the same hate?
Miller apparently wasn’t creatively involved with Across The Spiderverse beyond the movies early production
I think he basically left to showrun that shitty Afterparty show
Also both of them are showrunning Clone High at the same time. Was this always allowed, or am I missing something?
>Clone High
They only wrote the first episode, they didn't supervise the rest of the season.
and boy does it show
People are mad they have to work to make money?

if he wanted it to be perfect why didn't he remove miles?
Yeah, he never directed a good movie. Same for the other guy.
Kys, CWACOM is fricking Kino

Does this mean Spider-Verse is not winning the Oscar?

Who cares? The movies still turned out great
