Does this plot make any sense to you guys? I had hard enough time following who were the traitors and what the plots were in Godfather 1. In Godfather 2 I have no idea what's going on. It keeps jumping from scene to scene. All these greesball fricks with their names that all sound the same get me confused. Michael tells everyone a story of who the traitor is and it's always different. What is the actual plot of this movie? It's such a mess compared to the first film.
My theory is that Michael was a paranoid schizophrenic. Nobody was out to get him.
This is what I'm saying, none of it made sense that anyone was the traitor
You just sound kind of dumb and likely have a short attention span that's been fried by the internet and social media. It's one of the greatest films ever and you should feel bad.
How about you explain it instead of projecting like a fricking israelite
It makes sense but I don't know why Michael wouldn't know Roth was his enemy right away
He did but thought it was old street gangsters trying to shoot him, not international criminals using finance and politicians.
Hyman Roth stages a false flag on Pentangalia to flip him and lay a perjury trap on the Corleone.
It's more than a movie on it's own. It marked a new era of serious drama that lasted until the blockbusters, replacing the matinee epics.
kay was the villain. she took down the organization from the inside. it was the last thing michael expected
The aborted son would have taken the organisation to new heights that Michael never dreamed.
Senator Geary was my favorite character because before they set him up with the hooker death, he told the Shitalians who they really are.
>you and your whole fricking family
I felt the hate radiating from the screen
>It's such a mess compared to the first film.
It's really not.
>Michael Corleone is working with Hyman Roth in negotiations with the Cuban government to open casinos in Havana
>Hyman Roth makes contact with Fredo through his right hand man, Johnny Ola
>Roth has Michael request Pentangeli, one his underbosses, relent in a conflict with former underlings, the Rosato Brothers, who are now backed by Roth. Pentangeli is upset by this.
>Roth convinces Fredo to grant his men access to the Corleone compound to 'assist with negotiations': Fredo goes along with this either because he's stupid or lies to himself that it's not an assassination
>Michael knows it was Roth that engineered it but makes Roth believe he thinks it was Frank Pentangeli, who is upset at Michael's recent demands
>Michael installs Tom as Underboss.
>Roth and Michael meet with government officials in Cuba.
>Pentangeli meets with the Rosato Brothers to make the peace Michael has requested requested but Roth has arranged for him to be assassinated at this meeting. It is botched. Pentangeli is lead to believe Michael has conspired to have him killed.
>Pentangeli agrees to turn state witness against Michael
>Michael learns that Fredo is friends with Johnny Ola and he is the traitor in their family
>Michael's attempt to have Roth assassinated is botched
>The Cuban government is overthrown by Communist rebels forcing the Corleones and Roth out of Cuba and putting their plans into disarray
The rest of the plot is even more straightforward so if you can't follow anything beyond that then you might be learning impaired.
Based effortpost. Not that anon but I never liked Godfather 2 as much as one. It feels like the plot doesn't even really reveal itself until an hour in. Also the whole conflict about the traitor feels very buried under a million layers. I was younger when I saw it for the first time, maybe I'd like it more if I saw it again today.
>Fredo introduces Ola to Rocco
>Rocco gives access to assassins to compound
>Rocco opens curtains and kills assassins
Thanks, to be honest I didn't understand who the hell sent the guy to assassinate Roth in Cuba. Was the botching of Rosato's assassination part of Roth's plan? As in did Roth plan for Rosato to turn on Michael as a witness?
My theory is that Tom Hagen cucked Michael and impregnated his wife, that's why she got the abortion
Only Michael is attracted to Kay. That's why after almost 2 years she remained single until Michael got desperate for a wife to mother kids for him. He should've found another Sicilian but instead he chose the white American woman. Sad.
>He should've found another Sicilian but instead he chose the white American woman.
I suppose that is the overall message of the Godfather I and II: Don't go for American women.
Watching these a little here, little there currently. I enjoy that there's a lot going on and it's hard to follow. Like a mystery. Like The Big Lebowski, good for rewatches.
I only watched it once. why did that guy slit his wrists at the end
He couldn't take another dinner of US Army spaghetti.
He took Tom's deal, he'd kill himself and his family wouldn't lose their wealth or estate.
I've seen it almost as many times as the first and I'm still not sure I understand it all the way. 1 is very easy to follow.
Michael's mind is very convoluted throughout the film.
Anyone seen the recut Godfather 3 and is it no better than the original version as I suspect?
>I came home to vote in the Presidential Election because they wouldn't give me an absentee ballot.
>tfw no friends that want to have coffee
I have to rewatch godfather II but the one thing I remember it made me want to have banana daquiri and birthday cake
>How do you say banana daiquiri?
