Nah he's a superb actor, House is pretty much the opposite of his usual roles. (his comedy duo counterpart Fry can't act for shit though, he only does two characters, stroppy caricature and bombastic loud caricature)
Always assumed he just made enough money and felt like stopping. He's one of Stephen Fry's bum chums so can always get hired by the BBC whenever he wants.
Laurie became super famous AFTER an already established career in th UK, same as Christoph Waltz who worked for decades before making it big in the US with one role.
Why do you believe that a "career" is a neverending rise graph? >Oh he made 8 seasons of one of the most successful shows on tv? But what about after that!
You are delusional
Probably some sort of blue-collar syndrome. That anon has and always will be safe slaving all day long because he has shit pay and couldn't survive otherwise. He can't comprehend that this actor made millions with the show and - as long as he doesn't go Johnny Depp levels of moronic - that money will last his whole life and prolly even his children's life.
you can't have a career after playing a main character on a popular show like this for years. you put this guy in any movie or show and people don't see who he's supposed to be playing, they see dr. house trying to be a cop or lawyer or general or whatever. this is why people say tv is where careers go to die, the exception being the more recent prestige tv shows where it's more like one long movie. house wasn't like that at all
of course nobody should feel bad for hugh, he was like the highest paid tv actor in the world for some of house's run and he already had a career before it anyway. i feel a little more bad for the secondary characters on that show who i'm sure made out ok with money but will have the same problem with moving on to something else. the blond doc transitioned to some nbc show and seems to be doing ok. that one hot woman broke out to do some movies and directing, mostly because she didn't have a strong character on that show anyway and she's attractive. for the rest, house will probably be the highlight of their career beyond one-offs on law and order
I would neet forever after 1 season, he did 8 + whole career before. Balding sucks but happens to us all when old. Better to be rich and famous when it does
the even dumber part was that every episode had him figure out it was some crazy, out of left field issue... and then he'd still have to convince all his subordinates that he was right, despite being right essentially every episode in extremely similar situations
and he did this basically every episode, they never learned to just accept his diagnosis as correct
was still a fun show though, and it had a bunch of based shit like him shit talking trannies which you could never get away with today
>the even dumber part was that every episode had him figure out it was some crazy, out of left field issue... and then he'd still have to convince all his subordinates that he was right, despite being right essentially every episode in extremely similar situations
We only see the times he's right. Same as Scully/Mulder.
I have a Doctor like this. He's bloody funny, you just have to get used to him. He knows what he's doing actually very good, but if you look up his ratings from patients there's quite a few one stars for his attitude, but he don't give a frick.
>My doctor is like that!
You know, you should be more assertive with your lies anon
You could have go with "my uncle is like that", revoming yourself from the lie that much is lame
>makes fun of patient because they are afraid of having cancer >"lol idiot you don't have cancer" >They do have cancer >"wtf y didn't u tell me you had cancer it's so obvious now" >"Ebrybuddy lies" ; )
Also >Treating another patient not relevant story gives someone an idea for how to fix the main patient of the episode >Repeat for literally every episode
You don't realize House MD is detective slop but with diseases, the sudden flash of inspiration from unrelated things to break the case is a staple of the genre.
>patient collapses because all illnesses are instant and cause collapsing >house makes a dumb unfunny comment people who make 46k a year and lease a pile of shit lincoln thinking theyre high society laugh at it because they have no personality >"oh start him on uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" >patient's condition worsens >sexual tension scene between house and the bony woman >unfunny comments and jokes for people who played golf twice >"IT MUST BE LUPUS" >its not lupus its sneedous cell chuckinoma >hous you cant use that medication its experimental >i hate my patients >patient barely survives but makes a full recovery >house makes a gay joke >scene where australian man is packing fudge deleted from the final airing
it is funny how this guy's career went nowhere after House ended. i think it was probably the balding that did him in.
hes a mediocre actor who lucked into the perfect role
You've obviously never seen jeeves and woovster. Hue has had a long career before the show and even wrote a book.
Nah he's a superb actor, House is pretty much the opposite of his usual roles. (his comedy duo counterpart Fry can't act for shit though, he only does two characters, stroppy caricature and bombastic loud caricature)
He was amazing in Blackadder.
okay let's see another mediocre actor replicate this scene
easy.
give it to the Goose and watch cinematic perfection unfold
Always assumed he just made enough money and felt like stopping. He's one of Stephen Fry's bum chums so can always get hired by the BBC whenever he wants.
Stephen Fry was the untalented half.
No arguement there. He's carried by everyone he works with.
He was the highest paid actor on TV and already had an established UK career before House. He probably didn't need to bother.
He's also been in a few things since, Night Manager, that HBO comedy, etc.
I’ve seen him in a few things since but he probably struggles to shake the house character now
Laurie became super famous AFTER an already established career in th UK, same as Christoph Waltz who worked for decades before making it big in the US with one role.

You're just as much a slave as he and Laurie are. Everyone is a slave to time and death.
we've built a whole economic system that runs the worlds economy out of the neverending rise graph
no surprise people think the same for anything else
He had a couple other good roles.
I liked Chance
I liked Chase
He literally didn't care. He was already a very famous and estaliblished actor in the UK, and after House he was just acting for the fun of it.
you can't have a career after playing a main character on a popular show like this for years. you put this guy in any movie or show and people don't see who he's supposed to be playing, they see dr. house trying to be a cop or lawyer or general or whatever. this is why people say tv is where careers go to die, the exception being the more recent prestige tv shows where it's more like one long movie. house wasn't like that at all

He said many times that while he loved house he was exhausted by the end of it, he needed to relax and to stay with his family in england
the even dumber part was that every episode had him figure out it was some crazy, out of left field issue... and then he'd still have to convince all his subordinates that he was right, despite being right essentially every episode in extremely similar situations

I’ve only watched the first season but he seems to get it wrong a lot and I’m pretty sure he hired really smart people who also have opinions and shit
Theres an actual arc where he loses it so much because he needs input from his team.
And don't forget
>It's never lupus

when he says "my doctor is like that" he probable just means he's a curmudgeon and that's it, not that he's literally like house in every other way
>makes fun of patient because they are afraid of having cancer
>"lol idiot you don't have cancer"
>They do have cancer
>"wtf y didn't u tell me you had cancer it's so obvious now"

He was already big in Ingerland before House m.d.
Loved him in Blackadder.
He would have got the vaxx on the 1st day of its release too.
>The patient doesn't have super AIDS!
>Wha- That's impossible! The tests...
>He has REGULAR AIDS
>but the patient isn't gay
>no, but his dads *are*!
It may very well be the best TV show ever made.
>patient collapses because all illnesses are instant and cause collapsing
>house makes a dumb unfunny comment people who make 46k a year and lease a pile of shit lincoln thinking theyre high society laugh at it because they have no personality
>"oh start him on uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

>sexual tension scene between house and the bony woman
>unfunny comments and jokes for people who played golf twice
>"IT MUST BE LUPUS"
>its not lupus its sneedous cell chuckinoma
>hous you cant use that medication its experimental
>i hate my patients
>patient barely survives but makes a full recovery
>house makes a gay joke
>scene where australian man is packing fudge deleted from the final airing
the show sucked
Stupid fricking show
obligatory
I love the show but this gif means I don’t ever need to watch it again.
kino
>yearly rewatch of house
>become hypochondriac for several months after
how do i stop this
