I hope so, they did a surprisingly good job and I wanted to hate on them because I don't like either of them particularly but I was pleasantly surprised.
Question, is Dog Man legit better than Captain Underpants or is the latter still Dav's magnum opus?
That said, does Dog Man have any blatant author venting like the last Captain Underpants books had?

Context
Dav never had good experiences with most adults growing up
Krupp was based on a principal who took one of his drawings, tore it up, and told him in front of his face that he'll never be an artist
His dad (who he took care of during the hiatus) also dying might also explain why the books became more depressing by the end of the series
I actually liked the movie's attempt to humanize Krupp.

I think Captain Underpants is still the magnum opus, but I do love how DogMan, Super Diaper Baby, and Ook and Gluk show more of George and Harold's creative thinking and their slow evolution as artists. Like in the first few books there were tons of spelling errors and crossed out words but as time has gone on it's less prevalent.
I'd say so. Cap lost something after Purple Potty People (finale was really rushed). Like another anon said, it's neat to see the evolution of 2 fictional kids creating, plus the Petey backstory stuff's real emotional.
Haven't read the new cat Kid yet due to library waitlist, they're ok but repetitive.

I hope it's just as stupid as the captain underpants movie with less fart jokes

His magnum opus is obviously Ricky ricotta.
She's a circle on top of a trapezoid, anon.
I liked shapely women, it doesn’t matter the specific shape.
Unfortunately, I don’t think enough adult-age comicgays read Dog Man to find out. Even the insanity of late Captain Underpants is unknown to most people outside Cinemaphile. I’ve read a couple, but not the whole series. At a bookstore I picked up the most recent one and there was a short story about death, it felt like something he’d do. I sometimes wonder what crazy jokes or dark directions Pilkey has slipped into this series. I wish someone would storytime it.
On the other hand, it’s nice that kids have their own little gem of a series nobody else knows about.

Captain Underpants and Dog Man are literally the most popular books in America (whatever that says about our country) what the ever loving frick are you talking about? I’m fricking 32 I bought (and still have) the first like 5 as they released. These things are easily 2 decades old. He had a film. I can’t even imagine how moronic someone has to be to act like these are in any way unknown or under the radar.

I just looked it up the first came out in 97. It’s 27 years old. Millennials, zoomers and whatever is in grade school now have these books on shelves. Some of its original readers are almost fricking 40.
Calm down booty-blasted anon. I’m only talking about Dog Man. It’s a wonderful series and I’m happy every time I see a chart with it dominating comics sales. No adults discuss it. Plain and simple.
Surprisingly no, if people made fun of them I didn’t notice. I guess I got lucky and made stuff I can look back on without cringing.
However, in later years I absolutely did stuff I cringe thinking about
>Police officer Knight and his intelligent canine sidekick Police dog Greg were caught in an explosive trap set up by the evil genius Petey the Cat. But a radical medical operation to resurrect them by transplanting Greg’s head onto Knight’s body created a new superhero with Greg’s smarts and Knight’s incredible strength, named the titular Dogman.
There, you’re all caught up, happy reading. The books really are that easy to pick up.
Will Middleditch and Hart play George and Harold again?
I hope so, they did a surprisingly good job and I wanted to hate on them because I don't like either of them particularly but I was pleasantly surprised.
I think Middleditch got cancelled for domestic abuse
Middleditch is back in the mainstream. He was in league of superpets.
Nope he was called out for groping a woman’s breasts at a goth night club in 2021 that’s about it

What author venting was there?
Tomino would be proud
I actually liked the movie's attempt to humanize Krupp.
Is that even venting, sounds like he's just saying what kids already think to be relatable

I mean he's got a point.
*based on a second grade teacher who tore it up and a high school principal who told him in front of his face he'd never be an artist
>shitting on Sarah, Plain and Tall
Unfathomably based. Frick yes.
He also based Melvin (the hateable nerd) on a kid he knew in school that always rubbed his grades in everybody’s face.

I shed no tears for Ook and Gluk.
>shed no tears for Ook and Gluk.
The most I can say about it is that it handled time travel better than Samurai Jack
I hope it's just as stupid as the captain underpants movie with less fart jokes

>Ricky ricotta.
He didn't do the art
The artist switch also turned me off, does the writing make up for it?

That’s just not true, you likely just don’t have kids or friends with kids.
It's weird cause you'd think Cinemaphile would LOVE to read children's comics more often given the cartoon fans here
No waifus to lust over
Does ACAB apply to Dog Man?
Have you seen dogs around Cop Dogs? They know they're narks.
Of course. All cats are bastards.
i don't think george floyd exists in the dog man universe.
dog man made sure of that
All cops are beagles?
okay but why couldn't we get a captain underpants 2?
If the dog and police officer get stitched together, then where did they get the man half?
You think it’s going to be DreamWorks first 2D animated film in over 20 years?
Or are they going the Peanuts movie route?
anon they did underpants movie, it's gonna be the same
>inside you are a dog and a man
>2 minds in 1 brain
>every day is a living Hell
Never ever
Damn I completely forgot about that.
>relevant social commentary
How much of the humor has been dated when he was still writing?
Times change, but farts remain the same.
Are you into farts, anon?
Something like this?
I would cum inside that news reporter lady
She's a circle on top of a trapezoid, anon.
The only knowledge if have of this series is that I know one of the books is titled Dogman: UNLEASHED and I laugh every time i see it in a store
Wheres my captain underpants sequel?
Right here
>unsheathes dick

>That one kid who tore the library's copy's page while doing the flip-o-rama
>that one kid who made his own captain underpants style comics and shared them with his classmates
was me
Do you feel the cringey flashbacks as well? They will never leave me

>another dreamworks canine person
He's too cartoonish to be sexualized
then again Boss Wolf porn exists so...
this is cool but i don't know why they wouldn't just make another CU movie
I wonder if the kids who read dogman now have also read Captain Underpants. Are Captain Underpants books still selling?
Never read the Dogman books, anyone got a ""lore"" synopsis?

that sounds like a horror movie plot
