That whole "the MC from FO4 was the guy laughing at a dead Canadian in FO1" was such a bullshit thing. I've never played FO4 but that just comes off like a J.K Rowling thing where she just says something on social media to make it canon. What's the fricking point of giving the player the ability to make their own character only to give them an official backstory? That's why everyone was pissed off with the NV DLC Lonesome Road which gives a past action your character did that had a devastating impact on an entire region.

Personally i liked the show and that´s what made me decide to check out Fallout 4 but, as i understand it, legacy fallout fans already kind of hate the direction the franchise took with that title and 76 so i guess new fans adding to those games popularity probably hurt their chances of ever getting a CRPG back.

I mean the original fans are probably pretty pissed that the IP is no longer a CRPG but a shooter right? And that happened without the show.
You never know though, BG3 was insanely popular, so maybe some IPs like this or Dragon Age that started as CRPG do have a chance to going back. Then again i´m a tourist so what do i know...

BG3 is closer to a reboot or spinoff than a true sequel, which is why it was generally successful. The only part that's really related to the original two games is the Bhaal temple arc, which is a subplot in Act 3.

Well, BG 3 proved there is still a market for that so maybe IPs that started that way would consider it for future entries (specially since the open world format is growing a bit stale, even normies are getting disappointed now by recycled mechanics).
