this movie tried way too hard to become a future christmas classic and while it kinda succeds in that (guess time will tell) its not the best movie of 2023
I don't get the ending.
He steals the expensive alcohol from the head guy, and he takes a big swig before he leaves the school. But does he spit it out because hes done drinking or hes spitting as in a "good bye you fricking place" type of way or did it just taste like shit?
this was a nice moment. kid thinks he's going to get expelled and thrown into military school, she thinks she's going to get fired. Pauly G takes the fall for everyone because he needs to get out anyway
really liked
laughed, got emotional, it was genuinely a great movie and I felt good watching it which is rare in this age of misery and pseudo intellectuals
that ending was depressing
how so? dude finally escaped the place and seems to want to quit drinking. kid seems in an alright spot mentally too
It was a happy ending, they all came unstuck.
I liked this movie better when it was called The Blackcoat's Daughter.
That's an unusual reference, is this movie like The Blackcoat's Daughter?
They're both about people stuck at a boarding school over the holidays, tonally very different.
What type of movie is OP? Is it any good?
It's a throwback to 70s melancholy slice of life films like Five Easy Pieces, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Paper Moon, etc...

It was a frick you to the school
ok good, I like that one a lot better
I thought it just tasted like shit and figured it was a metaphor for the school, expensive but shitty.
I think it signified a frick you to the school and him quitting drinking
I agree it was the best movie of 2023, but that's evidence that 2023 was a shit year for cinema.
This. It’s in my top 3 but it wasn’t even that great, it just wasn’t some shitty sequel/reboot or literally satanic wokeslop like 95% of movies now
>satanic wokeslop
what movie was satanic
lies, there were no good movies in 2023
oh no no
this was a nice moment. kid thinks he's going to get expelled and thrown into military school, she thinks she's going to get fired. Pauly G takes the fall for everyone because he needs to get out anyway
I've watched it three times and I appreciate her more with every viewing. That scene at the party is heartbreaking.
>blue gatorade filter
Looks like shit

was the anal rape scene really necessary? it comes out of nowhere and is never referenced again but they spend 10 full minutes on it
for all the zoomers with no fathers
Poor things was more kino. But this is second best kino of 2023.
>'women are brainless prostitutes lol' the movie
That's not Godzilla Minus One, though.
