The funny thing is, so far these unnamed sources have been correct 100% so far. They claimed disney was distancing itself from Majors and scaling back Kang. They pretty much retconned him at the end of Loki.

I know some designers and storyboarders who worked for disney that can now legally start talking about the work environment there, and even then they still want to remain anonymous because of how insane Disney's legal department is and how vengeful people like Kathleen Kennedy are. Others I have talked to that now work at dreamworks, Paramount, and Universal cannot talk still, but said they would rather not work for Disney ever again.
It's basically a super toxic workplace, with the least talented, most malicious, vindictive people calling the shots and none of them have a creative bone in their body. They chase out the talented people, either finding "problematic" issues or some post on twitter. They chased out James Gunn. He only went back so he could finish GoTG as a favor. He was pretty much isolated from the woke cabal and worked directly under Feige and Iger. They could not make another one without him. He finished that and is now working at WB. He wont be coming back either. It was a disney employee that cancelled him in the first place who still works for the company.
The higher ups are afraid of these people and the people forced to report to them hate them with every fiber of their being.
The reason Disney, Marvel, and Star wars have been on a collapse is because theater kids, political science majors, and business majors are in charge.
James Gunn was fired because some alt-right twitter guy was mad about him constantly shitting on Trump so he dug up some old tweets of his and brought attention to it, leading to Alan Horn immediately firing James Gunn despite everyone else's protests.
Generally when people cite Gunn's return, this board will point out it was only because he was a liberal being cancelled by conservatives. Not because he was being cancelled by women or something.

It doesn't automatically mean he's gone, but the character has been tainted by association and more importantly, his big movie debut was one of the least popular MCU movies up to that point (though only the second least popular of 2023).
In theory they could still make The Kang Dynasty with a different actor, but in practice I don't see how they don't just dump it and start over with something else.
(I have this wild theory that they'll do Avengers: Children's Crusade and have everyone fighting over whether to find the Scarlet Witch after her multiversal murder spree. They pretty much have the exact same setup as in the comics after House of M. I don't actually expect that to happen but can't resist speculating.)
