Payne didn't know what he is doing.
There were a bunch of elements, sci-fi comedy, socio-political satire, relationship drama and all were half-baked, he didn't manage to pull any of the things he tried to dabble in.

the premise was the most interesting thing about it

Correct. And the film proceeded to abandon it to do some other, far less interesting stuff: https://youtu.be/SsjtrnbkJXI

What was moronic about it? Genuinely asking

the tiny people are 100% dependent on normal people to maintain their lifestyle, they can only live like Kings because most people AREN'T tiny and thus the world is scaled to them. Yet they act as if they're the only moral ones when they endure no hardships whatsoever.

also as with all "shrinking" stuff, how does it work, decrease the number of molecules? do people now never get sick because bacteria are too big to cross their membranes?

the whole film was just a bit of a mess, at least it tried to be original I suppose

          NTA but
          >the tiny people are 100% dependent on normal people to maintain their lifestyle
It's not like they couldn't grow crops one at a time and harvest it as a community/group project. You could probably feed multiple households with a single large potato. As for meat, you could theorethically catch fish the same way we catch whales. Also all of this could be fixed by "downsizing" crops and animals too.
However I do have to agree that it's much more dangerous to be small because of predators like normal cats/bugs and harsh elements.
          >also as with all "shrinking" stuff, how does it work, decrease the number of molecules? do people now never get sick because bacteria are too big to cross their membranes?
Did you also rush to ask questions when you watched Honey I shrunk the kids? Sure it's silly, but it requires the same benefit of doubt as all science fiction.

            Anonymous

but they don't grow normal size crops. they seem to basically just have shrunken versions of normal stuff. In fact, IIRC they don't really address the food thing at all other than the tiny cows in the vault near the end. as the other anon said, they basically all just live in a theme park that is gonna implode spectacularly as soon as normal people decide they're not gonna support the endeavour any more.

it's odd when the american attempts to impersonate the wienerney accent.
it's like watching a ghetto Black attempt mimicking a human and then giggling and chittering like a chimp afterwards.

            everything is wrong to use.
kitchen cabinets and work surfaces are all 6 inches too low, same with toilets, door handles, light switches.

6’4” here and I wish I was 3” shorter. The world simply isn’t built for people my size.

you want to be trans-height, think about that, and stop it before you end up having bone sawn out of your legs while you browse online for roomy baseball caps and shoe lifts for your new manlet lifestyle.
if you were 6'6 or 6'7 it might make sense, but you can still go through most doorways without bumping your head.
instead we must craft the wold in our own image.
my brother had a dining table custom made for his frame, and built himself a work desk.
time to build giant houses for real men. you'll always be able to sell it because there are plenty of men who are sick of living in a dollhouse

Their money is also comparatively bigger making it worth more. manlets don't know how good they have it

What if we had an interesting premise, then we ignore it and cut corners to the point you're mostly just watching a regular drama vs. the sci-fi film ticket buyers are hoping for.

    >having everything smaller saves money
    >except if you want something electric you are paying 100x more
    >you buy less fruit and veg but it lasts just the same and the saving or buying one apple instead of 5 the price to get it to you in a mini town is the same as normal
    >meanwhile farmers are going mental as supply has plummeted
    >house materials are cheaper but labour is the same if not more expensive
    >any trade or profession is more expensive because getting them to be irreversibly small means paying them much more
Don’t think the premise is well thought out

      Adding on to your post

      - Rodents, cats, coyotes, foxes, bats, birds & large insects & human children are now natural predators of small people.
      - After enough people are downsized, the US Govt will figure out a way to screw small people out of their adjusted finances, & end their short lived (no pun intended) economic golden age.
      - It is easier to abduct, harm or murder a small person
      - If you want to travel, you can only freely travel to other small people communities, which are all basically theme parks. If you want to go to the Grand Canyon or Paris or anywhere else, you will have to be carried like a tiny animal in a clear plastic box.
      - If you have an extremely specific medical need or operation, good luck finding a specific surgeon who also became small.

The best move would in this world would be to stay big for the rest of your life, wait until enough people go small that the housing market plummets, then live a middle class life on minimum wage.

        further adding to this
        >there more than one cultures that at one point or another had stories about small people living in the walls
        >faries,feyfolk,brownies,borrowers,munchkins,gnomes,leprechauns,aziza,heimchen,redcaps etc
        >none of that raises any red flags with the ''intelligencia'' communities urgin everyone to downsize to avoid an impeding climate apocalypse that this shit may have happened before and what is now the earth's population are the descendants of the ones that did not shrink
