Just accept it. I learned to when Voltron was airing.

Well yeah, there's a whole lot more that goes into a show than one person could put in. And not just the crew but also the publisher and how they budget and mandate certain aspects of the show/development.

      What's wrong with it?

I could honest to god go on a long rant about it, but to sum it up characters, with few exceptions, behave either very moronic and illogically for the sake of the plot or I assume for wokey points or like they just read the show's script and thus know how shit will go down. Also it seems like the writers can't make up their mind as to whether they want this shit to be for kids or adults, themes go one way or the other.
        Basically shit writing gallore.

Okay, i didn't actually bother watching the last one.
Much like Korra, the only reason i kept going for so long was because it has a female character i want to frick.

Of the two main females one became a troony elf's fart sniffer(literally) and the other spent the whole season having a fit at her bf.
Its actually putrid and trust me, it makes Korra look like a good show in comparison.

not really, granted that DP is no Last Airbender but it is at least better than Korra by a long shot.

This entire show is a great example of how compromise and design-by-committee ruins television. The original idea was "an evil vizier and his two dorky kids", which is a great subversion on the usual "evil vizier" usurper trope. Humanize him and make him an anti-hero. But of course this has to be a KIDS show, and by one of the writers on ATLA no less, so of course we just HAD to add three basically irrelevant heroes - one of which is of course an annoying kid character. And then there's the titular Dragon Prince, who may as well not even fricking exist.

God what this could have been.

This would be infinitely more interesting, making the cartoon star an adult alone would have caught my interest but the scenario makes me picture a more serious megamind type of story.

You know your show is terrible when the show name doesn't make sense anymore after the first season.

It's not as good but still pretty decent. Decent story that flows well with a a little over-obvious moralizing along the way. Season 4 did drag as it was setting up the next 3 seasons but it wasn't as bad as board chuds say.

Zym is still in all three subsequent seasons and still a prince due to his age and the Queen existing.

          >Zym is still in all three subsequent seasons and still a prince due to his age and the Queen existing.
what I mean is that Zym is irrelevant, it's like saying that the avatar has no relevance in his own series.

They put a big "AND THE MYSTERY OF AARAVOS" on the title screen of the new seasons for a reason after all

              What mystery?
They literally dumped a load of exposition about him from the queen dragon after three seasons of trying to make him look mysterious

zym would be funnier if his first words were a speech of despair, but with the deep voice of a 40-year-old black man, it would be shocking to the entire cast.

Was that really the original idea?

The writers have no understanding of moral philosophy and want you to side with genocidal trail of tears dragons.

It's not as good as Avatar but at least we still didn't reach Korra levels of stupidity.
Last season that aired was the worst one of the bunch since it seems that they used it as a set up for the next ones but made it too boring or had the character act as stupid as possible just to advance the plot.
Not even the producers liked it and the creators even apologize for the fart jokes and promised to not use them anymore.
For the next season it seems it will have finally some plot and more action and all the one that worked on it seems that liked it and are waiting to see how we will react to it which is a complete difference situation from the pre-release of season 4 where most of them just wanted to be done with it so I'm still optimistic and hoping that it will fix some of the problems.
Unfortunately I don't think we can have a discussion on what will happen or a thread of speculations for season 5 until we saw it since the last one left such a bad taste in everyone mouth and ignored so many plot points that it's useless try and imagine what will happen since, until we have confirmation that the writing improved and season 4 was just an alone drop in quality, we can just say that they will ignore all the interesting aspect of their story to just have their continuation of political view of "humans bad"
I hope they start to fix this problems since they have told us that Xadia is also horrible and the dragons have lied or omitted some parts from Aaravos story which would tell us more on what he is doing but if not at least we should have more of a Rayla and Claudia centric season and togheter with the appearance of Nyx,the bloooom huntress and maybe Rayla mother I hope it will revive the porn scene of it

Avatar is easy as frick to understand, which helps

    >there are four major factions in the world, in four places
    >there are four kinds of superpowers in relation to those four factions
    >there is always one special person that can use all four instead of one
    >it appeared in one faction, another faction wiped them out (they're the bad guys)
    >protagonist is the special person and must a) become better to b) beat bad guy

There's enough depth to create narratives and have places to go to, but it's also immediately recognisable.

I couldn't tell you what the frick is happening in The Dragon Prince and the moral relativity is batshit insane.

Dragon Prince’s first couple of episodes delivered a setup that was similar to ATLA’s and equally simple and staightfirward. They were just supposed to travel across their world to deliver the Dragon Prince to his mom to make peace between the magic side and the human side. Hence the title.

But then at the end of season 3 they did that, and then season 4 needed to find other shit for the story to be about. It went off the rails well before that, of course, but at least that very basic goal was still there.
