>surprised that woke series is wokeshit.
I guess human-elf relationships are the norm now and the bulwark of the dark mage divide was destroyed; allowing Elf degeneracy to infect the minds of innocent humans.
Place your bets: will the Son or daughter be more of a disappointment for him?
why even have fiction in general if modern rality constantly leaks into it in the most obscene ways
Nepotistic hacks just don't know when thier industry is even about
These people like to believe that "fantasy" and "anything goes" means that you can make a convincing setting where most people are a form of LGBT or disabled and it has no implications. Like how in dragon prince's medieval dark age setting, there are lesbian queens and no one cares and there's a mute army commander because it progressive. You start to wonder if there's anything this world is prejudice against. It gets even worst with progressive fantasy literature
i like to think that the war with the elves has united all humans in solidarity, it does not matter if you are black or white or gay or straight, all that matters is killing those damn knife ears.
Yeah, I guess with the other fantasy races existing it can lead to humanity not caring about skin colors but disabilities/trans/sexualities are still out there. It also doesnt help that whenever different races meet in dragon prince, they don't seem all that prejudice against each other and just treat each other like nations that happen to be at war
No, seriously. Frick everything right now.
When did she find time for this between the attempted regicide, genocidal army pillaging, and murdering magical creatures for dark magic?
Why the frick can't they just copy the Japanese method. You guys have so many books and comics, yet for some ass reason your visual media entertainment refuse to bring it to tv or online to say. I'm amaze you guys are so slow in doing this! I believe your industry in poor. It have to be it! Westerns entrainment industry is too poor to pump out cartoons. MANAGE YOUR MONEY BETTER!
When it comes to adaptation Hollywood has the monopoly. They're constantly buying up the rights to books and comics to turn into live action properties and animation studios aren't even looking.
In Japan of course anime is so big when you make a manga light novel it's nearly guaranteed to get an anime adaptation, but America still treats animation as an afterthought.
>In Japan of course anime is so big when you make a manga light novel it's nearly guaranteed to get an anime adaptation,
Other way around, it's light novels that are big. That's why their animated versions almost always stop at 11-13 episodes that cover the first couple books, they're seen as advertisements for the real moneymaker. And of course 80% of those light novels will never be translated.
Don't worry, gays are dying due to the monkey pox. Blessing in disguise actually, just stay away from gays. Google images of children and babies affected with monkey pox after being touched by a gay before google deletes em
I was kinda dimly hoping that Callum would be way off base and that earth elves would be a bit more like dwarves, however unlikely that always was.
But I never in my wildest assumptions would have thought that Callum’s awkward impression of an elf would be spot on, or that Claudia would start dating the elf version of Callum.
Actually, however crazy it sounds, I sorta think it might make more sense if this guy is just a golem she built with dark magic.
>earth elves would be a bit more like dwarves,
I know right?
I hoped they would be more "down to earth" types with bulls horns and Norf accents.
"Treehugging dirt worshippers" is a weak theme when the whole race is like that anyway.
So, is EVERY human character just gonna get an elf fricktoy in this series? >Callum has an elf girlfriend >Amaya has an elf girlfriend >Claudia has an elf boyfriend >Viren has an elf boyfriend
Meanwhile, Runaan and Ethari are the only still living couple that isn’t interracial (though Ethari thinks Runaan is dead).
>Ethari thinks Runaan
Might as well be considering what happened.
Ah well, still rooting for Viren as the proxy for all the evils of white men. Hopefully he and his Twink Star Elf can embrace their love.
>two year timeskip >but Aaravos caterpillar still only just spun himself into a cocoon a couple days ago
So, did Claudia just have a pet caterpillar the size of a boa constrictor for the past two years? Which she kept next to her dad’s corpse in some cave? For two years?
I watched the episode at SDCC. Aavaros Caterpillar had Claudia bring Viren's corpse to the cave. Then the Caterpillar wrapped him in up to preserve his body while Claudia went and gathered materials for the resurrection.
Claudia was traumatized by what she was capable of to bring her father back. (Non horny: Kill people/children? Horny: Frick tons of different species for semen) During this time Claudia picked up a twink boyfriend. This is covered by the comic books.
Then 2 days ago the caterpillar gave her instructions on how to perform the resurrection and then spun a cocoon. Claudia completed the resurrection alone.
Viren has 30 days of life before he dies permanently. Aavaros can make his resurrection permanent if they find his prison and free him. Whatever hatches from the cocoon will take them to some kind of sage/seer type who can locate Aavaros for them.
Viren gave Claudia's boyfriend the stonewall. No hand shake. No words. Just disapproving eyes.
>she's fricking an elf while using dark magic to bring her human fascist father back to life
This is such a baffling character direction I can only assume it was mandated by Netflix.
Since earth elf magic is supposed to pertain to life and healing, I guess the two of them probably figured out the necromancy spell together. Maybe he really wanted to see a corpse get reanimated for some reason, and she was the only other person to get behind that.
It's Claudia. It's perfectly within her character to do the most daft shit imaginable, even right to her father's fricking face. It's one of her most consistent character elements. Now mind you they could always make it wicked by her basically keeping him as a spare magic battery that she also gets to frick until she has to drain him dry (in every sense), but it'll probably end up being Viren that wrings him out of all his magic.
Since earth elf magic is supposed to pertain to life and healing, I guess the two of them probably figured out the necromancy spell together. Maybe he really wanted to see a corpse get reanimated for some reason, and she was the only other person to get behind that.
>daft shit
Look, I just finished this and I'll admit I didn't pay very close attention to a lot of things but I didn't feel like Claudia was daft at all. If anything at all she's just a kid who hasn't had all their childish innocence stripped from them yet. Yeah sure, she's backing the wrong horse but she's supporting Viren competently and in all the ways we would consider "good". She is loyal, she feels guilt about having to choose between Callum and her father, she is kind and open to Ezran, and she pulls miracle magic out of her ass on reflect that she comes off as equally competent to Viren.
Now, I get a lot of shit in this story is bad fricking writing and the only way to stay sane is to really ignore a lot of it or how moronic a LOT of characters behave whether by failure of the writers or by the fact it's still a story for young adults. But I really feel like Claudia isn't one of those characters who fricks up, she presents so many fricking novel solutions to all of Viren's problems he wouldn't has so much impact if it wasn't for her.
I loved when they repeated her "impassable is just another form of passable" and Aaravos just goes "YESSSSS!" orgasmically because quite honestly to me that's been Claudia this whole show - she's been Mary-Sue levels of competent when it comes to magical proficiency and it felt like Aaravos was the first time someone praised her so explicitly when she dreamed up another miracle.
You would not believe the hard mental gymnastics some people go through to avoid admitting they non ironically enjoy a children's work, like people who buy those Harry Potter editions with super serious covers.
claudia
pl. claudias
Noun
1. the daughter of high mage Viren
2. a daft b***h
3. a basic unit of measure through which the severity of horse braps is determined
Examples
"Not everyone speaks claudia, Claudia!"
"Dude, my horse just cut 2.3 claudias and I think it gave me cancer!"
You act as this chick with a masculine vegana won't be the reason Claudia turns on her father and goes back to the "good side". Just thinking about it makes me queasy.
If a man has an effeminate boyfriend, he is simply exerting his superior masculinity over another. If a daughter has one, then its a red flag that's she's becoming a lesbian.
Listen, putting racism aside for just one second... I know it's hard, but try it.
This kinda derails Claudia's entire character trajectory. She was getting increasingly fricked up in the head, using dark magic, stealing life force to resurrect Viren while expose to Aaravos influence in some damp cave.
Even if she wasn't going to make a full villain turn, I expected to see her struggle.
It's like if they aborted Azula's downward spiral at the last moment so she can reveal her Watertribe boyfriend to a dumbfounded Ozai.
The humor was always The Dragon Prince's weak spot. For every gag that lands, there are 5 that deflate a chance at genuine drama.
Ehasz needs to stop watching Marvel movies.
Yeah, it seems to change some of the themes the cliffhanger left on. Now instead of implying one big desperate move on Claudia's part with the change to her hair, it's implying several smaller incremental changes into her doubling down on magic.
It implies that Aaravos is a lot more patient with the bug pal, as it spent almost two years still squirming about.
It implies Claudia did something to preserve Viren's body for a couple years,
The foot in the corner of the screen remains unaddressed, possibly is just Terry's. It also shows that Claudia isn't just going to a You vs Them mentality like Viren did.
>It also shows that Claudia isn't just going to a You vs Them mentality like Viren did.
I don't think that was really ever the case with Claudia either. Neither she or Soren really picked up on the animosity towards elves, even at the beginning of the series, outside of Rayla, which is justified because both of them were under the assumption she kidnapped Callum and Ezran.
You're gonna spill his FRICKING secrets, aren't you? Of course, why WOULDN'T an elf tell all the other elves about my zombie revival and my secret Sauron friend?!
Listen, putting racism aside for just one second... I know it's hard, but try it.

You can't just toss that at everyone who disagrees with you in the vague hope you are talking to a trans woman.
I mean, you can. But for all men and enbies you are just affirming their gender. And for cis-women it's just weird.
You know that you are going after 0.1% of the population here, right?
While cis people are like 99%.
So your hit rate is probably about 1 to 1000 in the general population as you are yelling this at random strangers online.

Two years with a caterpillar. He only spun the coccon a couple days ago. Which is a weird writing choice, because it’d be easier if he’d been a coccoon the whole timeskip. That line more than anything makes me think they didn’t originally plan to do a timeskip in the first place. Also, Claudia hasn’t changed her outfit in two years.
How the frick did the obvious dark mage who helped the "bad guys" in the last Season survive two years in elf land? I don't care if the elves decided to collectively put away racism and shit, no one' gonna trust the person who sided with a literal demon army.
She eas probably sacrificing boyfriends to her dead father, which she was going to do to current boyfriend but her father woke up and she just ran with it.
I don't get the impression Dark Magic actually DOES anything to your soul nor does it do anything to you physically.
And the reason why I say that is that Viren has done some shit, I mean some real significant shit, and while his physical form is all veiny and grey it's clearly not cancer because otherwise he'd be dead. The Sun Elves deemed him impure but we don't even know if that means anything. Likewise he doesn't seem any less sane than before.
Claudia's arc only feels like one where she has to choose between her loyalty to her dad and everything else in the world. She doesn't recognize the outside viewpoint of Dark Magic (and let's be real here, we haven't seen any real consequences besides the skin and hair bleaching) so it's not like it weighs negatively on her. She ate those deer because hey, we eat deer already right?
The writers are so bad at this that they haven't eroded any of Claudia's quirkiness, which I think is necessary to signify she's on some kind of arc. When something happens to Claudia it will be some kind of break and a drive right off a cliff and the problem with that is that that's fricking lame and not setup - because to me she hasn't felt any pressure to break at all up to this point.
Her boyfriend is fricking stupid. It makes no sense why he would date the daughter of the man who destroyed the fortress of the Sun Elves. I really hope Claudia has been eating her boyfriends to revive Viren. It's a shitty dive off the cliff but it's the only one that makes any sense at all.
Thing is, it's been two years in which her father who drove her use of Dark Magic was dead.
Teens develop massively in that kinda time.
And with the political tensions dissipating from the brink of war to a sudden amicable peace it's not absolutely weird that she made friends and met people.
She was torn between allegiances but without that she was originally a cute dork to which she seems to have gone back. Aside from her arcane powers and magical experiments to revive her father.
>And with the political tensions dissipating from the brink of war to a sudden amicable peace
Kind of seems like they could have gotten rid if the border at any point and everything would have been fine.
Like rather than being upheld for thousands of years by isolantionist policies over complicated cultural and species tensions, everyone but Viren got over the divisions years ago but they where too lazy to anything about it.
> Kind of seems like they could have gotten rid if the border at any point and everything would have been fine
still doesnt explain why moonshadow elves kept a magic secret path across the border as well for assassination purposes
It was just a couple of bad dudes on both sides ruining things for everyone. The Elves and Dragons didn't have a history of supremecist beliefs against humans that have never been reckoned with, it was just one Dragon whose gone now.
All the humans had to do was get rid of their one guy and the Xadians are totally chill with them! Most humans agree Dsrk Magic is gross anyway.
Didnt even viren's own wife leave him because of him doing dark magic?
Seems like being a dark magician in this setting is akin to being a doctor everyone else also hates

don't forget that the only reason why he used dark magic in that case was to heal their son from a deadly illness
Seems like a straightforward male elf to me. A little odd that he's a kiwi, but I guess they've established that different elves have different accents.
This. I don't think anyone would have gotten that Terry's trans without being told about it beforehand. All they would have gotten from this clip is that Terry's a sheepfricker.
I mean, if Terry is trans it would also be kind of weird for the binder to be on full display like that. The point of that garment is to be hidden for effect, and if nobody cares about body shape then there's no reason to wear one at all.
>trans
Why the frick is every single piece of media put out by the west now pandering to the extreme to these people? They don't even make up 0.01% of the global population (that number I'm sure declines given they kill themselves once begging for money to mutilate themselves doesn't get the required amount).
>Dude chill, its a twink hahahaha
Voiced by a troony though? Or maybe it's a new policy, like only POC can voice POC, where they have to hire at least 1 troony.
Terry is going to get fricking murdered I'm calling it right now. Also were the frick your getting the trans shit from it's not even implied in the video
Damn I actually liked this series at the start but then it suddenly turned into tumblr's wet dream where every character is on the homosexual spectrum. The couldn't even hook the aunt up with that one guy she obviously had a thing with and just randomly made her a dyke too.
>The first episode of the new season has Janai proposing to Amaya with some weird fire elf Tumblr group dance.
I don't even care about dykes, they haven't had the screentime for the audience to even care unless you're the kind of moron the squees regardless of what happens on the screen.
The VA being trans doesn’t mean the character is trans, anon. A black man can voice a white character and a white woman can voice an Asian character. That’s how VA works.
There's a major trend for having the "appropriate" person voicing said character these days, it's why they've kicked off the original VA for Jubilee for the 90s X-Men continuation to have a Asian do it.
Have you been under a rock these last 5 years? All characters have to be voiced by a character matching their race (Apu, Cleaveland, Carl) Only exception is when the character is white
Her voice only works because Americans aren’t well versed in distinguishing other accents. If she was American it would be easier to tell like with the high guardian spice abomination.
Also I feel bad for this fat woman with the pedostache.
yeah, the dragon prince magic system has a lot of weird similarities with colour magic from Warhammer Fantasy. the issue there is in Warhammer Dark magic is very corrupting giving the caster Mutations and generally other bad shit so it makes sense why you would not want people using it that does not really exist in Dragon prince.
All magic changes you in Warhammer, even the Imperial Collages of Magic.
Consorting directly with the chaos gods is what makes you grow extra dicks.
Dark Magic is the Dark Elves homebrew
Dark magic includes stuff like Witch spells and demonology from the Roleplaying game which is probably the closest to dark magic in Dragon prince since it is all about sacrificing things and using reagents in spells to get results(which all warhammer magic can do but is not required)
yeah but any classic Warhammer Fantasy but artists like Smith, Blanche, or miller would be a b***h to animate properly with 3d models so it unlikely to something with that style(have not seen the Warhammer + animations)

It's been a while since I watched it but from what I remember, every race is intrinsically connected to one (and only one) element of magic, so the entire race can only cast spells tied to that element, but humans aren't connected to ANY so it appears at first glance that they can't do magic at all. But then they can do dark magic to cast spells anyway.
Then once they perform dark magic for the first time they get that weird fever dream (where Callum chose the single element over dark magic), which now linked him (personally) to that element. >human can't do any spells >do dark magic exactly 1 (one) time >fever dream >choose an element or dark magic >if element they are now linked to that element and can cast magic same as any other race connected to that element but dark magic probably won't work for them anymore >if dark magic they don't get fever dream any more from using dark magic anymore (and are stuck with dark magic only forever)
If they can still cast dark magic after choosing an element that'd make human mages OP, and if they can get more fever dreams which lets them choose more elements, they'd be the most powerful race in the setting, which they arguably would be anyway simply because each human mage can choose a different element.
When Callum had his fever dream he got connected to the air element.
Thing is that neither Viren or Claudia (or probably any other previous dark mages) didn't know about this since Callum was probably the first to ever reject dark magic during the dream. Once this becomes normal information dark magic will probably become a "gateway" to getting magic for human mages. Wanna be a mage? Squish a butterfly and do a basic dark magic spell, then get your element from your dream and you're all set.
Well, dark magic being able to end a massive famine and fully cure the crippled is pretty awesome. The show is just weird about the main characters trying to push it as pure evil instead of morally gray.
It’s when they start doing genocides on Unicorns or wiping out entire species to add flavor to breakfast that Dark Magic becomes the equivalent of people who burn as much gasoline as they can on purpose for no reason.
It's the indifference to other life and the environment that's the problem. Every environmental criticism: crushing butterflies; burning needless amounts of gasoline; eating bacon is an issue of sustainability. The only thing that matters with any habit is doing it in a way you can continue doing it in the future.
We are consuming meat at a pace that is unsustainable and not only that, but doing it the way we're doing is emitting so much carbon into the atmosphere it it making life unsustainable in way that aren't even related to meat - the oceans are emptying and some nations will be underwater by 2050. The humans are consuming singular (or incredibly long to reach maturity) megafauna like the magma golem to provide but a single fricking season of crops. If the Elves could be written well they would concede that the use of Dark Magic could be regulated and permissible in small amounts but like our world the Elves have realized that greed is such a fricking hassle to regulate that it's just better and easier to just ban that shit. Reasonable Elves wouldn't mind Viren keeps a small butterfly farm to himself, but they'd probably mind if butterfly farming wholesale requiring burning entire acres of forest every winter to keep a giant fricking glass enclosure warm or worse hunter-gathering the wilds of said butterflies reducing populations to the point they can't pollinate shit causing the collapse of entire ecosystems.
The environmental homosexuals of the world don't understand this but at the very least they are putting the effort into supporting ideas that take humanity to a better place. The people who burn excess amounts of gasoline without thinking about it are killing Magma Golems, worse than that they're pouring industrial effluent into waterways.
We've seen three dark mages in the show total. Elves and dragons are just throwing a b***h-fit.

Aaravos probably represents end-stage Dark Magic and was bad enough that they violently banned the practice.
I'm willing to bet that Star Elves only give birth to one mage at a time hence why they chose to imprison Aaravos to ensure that the Star Elves never produce a Dark Magic threat like that again while he lives. Sol Regem just straight up showed up to specifically kill Viren's predecessor. There's probably a good chance that before Viren walked straight into Elven lands they were preparing to kill Viren (and Claudia) too.
>The people who burn excess amounts of gasoline without thinking about it are killing Magma Golems
If burning gasoline was the solution to stop hundreds of thousands from starving to death I would set fire to a pool's worth of gas without thinking twice

Nuke China and India take its place. It was never against a single country but against a system that relies on infinite growth in spite finite resources. You guys always use China as a gotcha but most of the pollution in China is made by global corporations that go to China precisely because they don't have to worry about environmental laws and Asia in general is still paranoid for the western colonialism and feel the constant need to catch up with the industrialized west. Just saiyan a system build on infinite growth with finite resources is insane. What's so terrible wirh asking a different economical system? as always, the issue with dark magic has never been "hurrr is there any proof??? durrr look at the good you can do!!!"
it's that when everybody on the fricking planet is telling you something is bad and not to do it, and you do it, and you keep it secret because you know they wouldn't approve, that says something about you as a person. and it keeps saying more and more about you as you keep going and encountering ethical quandaries.
at some point you decided that you were the arbiter of life and death. that you deserved to have the great power, that you knew best how to allocate resources, and that everyone else on the planet was a moron for not slaughtering deers and dragons by the millions to get what they wanted.
maybe tracking spells are really hard in this universe????
claudia killed a dragon with a griffin feather and could have harvested enough materials from that dead dragon to do many, many times more things.
it's partially that exponential growth / laddering of power that makes dark magic dangerous. it invokes the peter principle - because there are no limits, and it's so easy to ladder from one stage of power to the next, you can be a good, responsible user of dark magic all the way until you aren't. callum doesn't get more power when he uses his storm orb to kill a dragon. claudia does. and she can just keep falling upwards, justifying herself at every point, until she encounters a situation she's NOT qualified to make the right decision about.
viren was able to change the seasons with something's dead body part. if you can end a famine, you can start one. why does claudia deserve to have that power, just because she hasn't thus far made any morally monstrous decisions? it was okay when she killed a few deer to save her brother, why does that magically mean she's qualified to decide what the weather should be?
lol and what if the enviromental concerns are addressed while allowing the practice to continue?

Well in interviews (OF COURSE NOT IN THE FRICKING SHOW) they reveal the reason it's SUPER DUPER EVIL is because it also uses up your own soul. At least that's one of the things given. However, is someone not entitled to using up their soul if they so choose?

>it's that when everybody on the fricking planet is telling you something is bad and not to do it, and you do it
There's generally an expectation that there should be a reason, consistent with other views, that can be cited. Blind obedience isn't exactly the kind of virtue the show pushes in other respects, so why only with Dark Magic?
>that everyone else on the planet was a moron for not slaughtering deers and dragons by the millions to get what they wanted.
Not required for Dark Magic to function.
>because there are no limits
Then set limits, regulate. Something being dangerous doesn't make it inherently evil.
Heck, unlike Primal Magic, Dark Magic's fuel isn't limitless and isn't even easy to access.
>you can start one
You don't need magic to create a famine.
That isn't a rebuttal of his point. You don't need nukes to kill everyone, but that doesn't mean no one should object to some random butthole making them.
>A spell that uses dragon bits uses dragon bits.
And a spell that doesn't doesn't.
Spells that use body parts that aren't required to kill being also exist, though if the creature is sapient then that gets into the politics of bodily autonomy.
>You don't need nukes to kill everyone, but that doesn't mean no one should object to some random butthole making them.
But why only ban one power structure in which a famine could be achieved and not another? Be it political or through other forms of magic or magical ability.
And the nukes argument isn't comparable when Dark Magic can do a many more varied things.
The show would have had better legs to stand on if it avoided treating anything as inherently evil and had better world building.

Sorry but the reason the food comparison comes up is because it's comparable.
The potential for canniblism hasn't stopped anyone from taking a stand against meat eating in this universe beyond Moonshadow Elf culture, and they tolerate it fine. Heck Dark Magic doesn't even require creatures since we know mushrooms are also used.
I was going to say that the difference was that Dark Magic requires specific sources, but we eat specific foods to aquire specific vitamins, minerals, probiotics, proteins, carbohydrates etc. The difference then is the extent of varying effects, but that's left the realm of >You can't use the magic spell with the butterfly because it uses the same method of consumption as a magic spell that requires the horn of a Fire Dragon
>it's that when everybody on the fricking planet is telling you something is bad and not to do it, and you do it, and you keep it secret because you know they wouldn't approve, that says something about you as a person. and it keeps saying more and more about you as you keep going and encountering ethical quandaries.
Appeal to popularity, bye bye.
>and you do it, and you keep it secret because you know they wouldn't approve, that says something about you as a person.
Just like being in a relationship with a black person during slavery, am I right? Shut up with you moronic reasoning, turd.
What you were saying when you were in love with a black person during slavery is "all lives are equal, we are all loved, we all deserve a chance at happiness". At worst, your opponents would accuse you of the moral degeneration of society or the weakening of the gene pool or whatever
What you are saying when you use dark magic is "i am smarter than everyone else. i am going to slaughter intelligent creatures for profit. i am going to consult no authority but my own. there are no limits on my power except the ones I set"
>because there are no limits
Then set limits, regulate. Something being dangerous doesn't make it inherently evil.
Heck, unlike Primal Magic, Dark Magic's fuel isn't limitless and isn't even easy to access.
>you can start one
You don't need magic to create a famine.
You can't meaningfully regulate dark magic because of how it works, that exponential growth. Imagine if you could shoot someone with a pistol and a shotgun would pop out of their corpse. And then you killed more people and you could get a bazooka, then a tank, then a nuclear bomb. there's no meaningful way to "set limits" because the moment you give someone access to a little bit, they can leverage that little bit to get a whole lot. It took one piece of one gryphon (and a ballista, admittedly) to kill a dragon. what do you think one piece of a dragon could do? how many pieces do you think you get per dragon?
Where do you set the limit? Deer, livestock? How long do you honestly think it'd take before someone took those deer and turned them into a way to get even more power? And if you do set a limit there, you're tacitly admitting that Viren is wrong - because he, unchecked, has "self-regulated" into much more heinous things than killing a few deer.
>so why only with Dark Magic?
Because it's fricking dangerous, and letting people know about it is just going to put ideas in their heads. Look what Viren managed even in a disapproving society.
>But why only ban one power structure in which a famine could be achieved and not another?
Because there's a difference between massive systemic economical and political issues, and some random butthole with a frost giant heart and an ego.
Yeah this is exactly what I feel about Dark Magic. It's clearly something that cannot be regulated (i.e. reigning in greed and overconsumption) which makes it absolutely worthy of outright prohibition.
I hope the show, in its failure to expand on the consequences of Dark Magic, actually has the balls to assert there are ZERO practical downsides to using Dark Magic and that Viren and Claudia only suffer minor (and reversible) cosmetic damage. I want Viren to be facing down a Dragon screaming at it why Dark Magic is so fricking dangerous and the Dragon exclaims "THERE ARE NO PERSONAL CONSEQUENCES TO USING DARK MAGIC; THE DANGER IS YOU DARK MAGE AND WHAT YOU DO TO THE WORLD" and it just floors Viren. And the Dragon follows it up by explaining why it's so fricking banned is because like the environmental issues of today people cannot fricking control themselves and some greedy users of Dark Magic will spoil the party of those who can restrain themselves. They will then point to the human kingdoms and how they've been utterly stripped of magical life and explain THAT was the result of Aaravos consuming the magic from that entire half of the continent to fuel some petty fricking megalomaniac scheme of his.
it seems like your deal with dark magic is that you keep projecting your enviromentalist beliefs onto the show
spoilers: they made dark magic neutral in their own tabletop game
its like necromancy, people are eventually going to use it for good anyways
>They will then point to the human kingdoms and how they've been utterly stripped of magical life and explain THAT was the result of Aaravos consuming the magic from that entire half of the continent to fuel some petty fricking megalomaniac scheme of his.
And then the humans can go, "So why did you make us humans walk the trail of tears metaphor, when it was the elves who fricked up?"

at this point the human characters basically have no character agency unless they're unambiguously on the elf side
>It's clearly something that cannot be regulated (i.e. reigning in greed and overconsumption)
How is it clear?
>there are ZERO practical downsides to using Dark Magic and that Viren and Claudia only suffer minor (and reversible) cosmetic damage.
Well we know it's not reversible and that requiring the sources needed for Dark Magic takes a exponential effort at best and risking life and backlash at worst. Understandable backlash, but that's a consequence.
More than what Primal Magic requires.
>And the Dragon follows it up by explaining why it's so fricking banned is because like the environmental issues of today people cannot fricking control themselves and some greedy users of Dark Magic will spoil the party of those who can restrain themselves.
Which is why the show is clearly on the way to condemn farming and hunting.
Sounds like you want the show to have better writing and consistent logic than it does, but that's not the show.
> dark magic is bad because you cant meaningfully regulate it
thats the same for all the other magic types, as well as dragons who can basically nuke a city if they wanted to
>thats the same for all the other magic types, as well as dragons who can basically nuke a city if they wanted to
you can meaningfully regulate those things because if someone breaks the rules, or finds a loophole in the rules, the damage they can inflict before you bring the might of the law on them is predictable and measurable. you can prepare anti-dragon measures. you can set up a fire brigade.
what measures exactly are you taking against dark magic, which literally does anything? some hobo in the streets mind-swaps himself into a wealthy merchant because he happened to find a two-dicked albino hamster in the sewers. you can't defend against every vector of attack, and you can't prevent the spread of information once it's out there - so the best practice is just to prevent the practice altogether.
the number of resources you'd need to effectively police an entire nation of dark mages would massively outweigh the benefits. oh, goody, you stopped the famine! but now you need thirty thousand trained inquisitors enforcing martial law on the population so that no bozo gets the bright idea to try and reverse your hard work.
it seems like your deal with dark magic is that you keep projecting your enviromentalist beliefs onto the show
spoilers: they made dark magic neutral in their own tabletop game
its like necromancy, people are eventually going to use it for good anyways
it literally is neutral. the thing about most things like dark magic, "i swear guys it's not bad it's all about how you use it", the people who select THEMSELVES to be the bearers of that great power are usually the ones you don't want bearing it. the magic itself may or may not be evil, but the PEOPLE absolutely are evil.

Pure conjecture, utterly speculative in nature. You’re dreaming up magic spells we don’t know exist just to disparage dark magic. You don’t know how Viren’s body swap technique would have worked, how much skill was required to perform it, how expensive it would have been, anything. The only thing we know is that it required an incredibly rare two-headed snake that took a lot of resources to collect.
So no, there will be no body-swapping hobos, no commoners casting high-level techniques with penis hamsters. Just powerful people trying to one-up each other, which, as you are probably aware, is what humans do all the time anyway.

>So no, there will be no body-swapping hobos, no commoners casting high-level techniques with penis hamsters.
Callum cast Dark Magic simply by crushing the right kind of caterpillar and repeating the words with absolutely zero training and having only seen Claudia do it earlier. Callum for the entirety we've known him is utterly untrained in the art - it wouldn't take much for him or anybody to become a danger to others.
Forget the advanced techniques, the basic techniques are available to anybody with the words and reagents. And the basic techniques can very obviously do a lot of harm. Disseminating these techniques to the populace you will never be able to claw them back and as the other guy said, the costs to police it vastly offset the benefits.

You’re assuming that basic dark magic is the most effective means humans have of doing harm. The people of TDP already have civilisation-wide access to sophisticated projectile weaponry such as crossbows and ballistae. They also understand explosives as evidenced by Amaya’s destruction of the Breach. These are things which can easily be mass-produced, capable of giving regular humans the ability to kill things many times their weight class.
Now consider dark magic’s pros and cons. Indeed, an individual can wreak destruction on an unprecedented scale, but those who can perform such feats are clearly few and far between. Consider what happened to Callum after he used that caterpillar spell, for instance. You say no training was required for the spell, but you’re ignoring that he was incapacitated for hours afterward. Callum had a book and previous experience with magic and it still put him in critical condition. The average joe would probably kill himself trying to use magic when he could get much better and easier results with a simple bow or spear, and knowledge for making those is readily available to anyone. You could just buy one from the nearest store, honestly.

>what measures exactly are you taking against dark magic, which literally does anything?
It doesn't. There are specific spells that need to be learned that require specific things.
The show also has no problem with Callum being able to use sky and moon spells.
>the number of resources you'd need to effectively police an entire nation of dark mages would massively outweigh the benefits.
Any more to regulate the multiple different types of magic amongst the Elves and Dragons? Or the use of primal magic amongst humans now that Callum has discovered how to aquire it?
>it literally is neutral.
Nope, according to most of the cast, it's just kind of evil.

> the damage they can inflict before you bring the might of the law on them is predictable and measurable
what if there is a sun magic spell that explodes the planet? what if theres a star magic spell that extinguishes stars? you're literally bullshitting about the limits of prlmal magic
>At worst
No, if you loved yhem and didn't just own them, it was worse. More the person you loved and your kid.
>i am going to slaughter intelligent creatures for profit.
Not required for all spells. And profit is not intrinsict as much as any craft is.
>i am going to consult no authority but my own. there are no limits on my power except the ones I set"
Yeah only the kings are allowed to do that.
Also the attitude of the Xadians towards the humans.
Again it's not like there aren't understandable issues with Dark Magic but the show treats doesn't apply the same criticisms to the practices it's totally fine with. Ergo, according to the shows logic those issues aren't issues.
>It took one piece of one gryphon (and a ballista, admittedly) to kill a dragon.
Yeah the ballista killed the dragon. The gryphon eye was for a guiding spell. Use that as proof for why non fatal magic can be used to kill if you want, but the show has no issues with the existence of ballistas and other weaponry.
>what do you think one piece of a dragon could do?
A path clearing spell.
You're spiel treats every Dark Magic spell like it's a killing spell. Most aren't and the ones that do can't be done from any source.
Where do you set the limit? Deer, livestock? >How long do you honestly think it'd take before someone took those deer and turned them into a way to get even more power?
Again, their already limited from the very specific requirements for each spell.
>because he, unchecked, has "self-regulated" into much more heinous things than killing a few deer.
Yeah that's what the checks are for.
>Because it's fricking dangerous, and letting people know about it is just going to put ideas in their heads. Look what Viren managed even in a disapproving society.
Yes. Limiting knowledge to a taboo subject absolutely stops people from participating in it. There's no precedence to think that marginalising a practice means creating an environment around it where there's no accountability and recourse for when things go wrong, an environment easier for exploitation.
>Because there's a difference between massive systemic economical and political issues, and some random butthole with a frost giant heart and an ego.
Is Dark Magic a person now?
>it's that when everybody on the fricking planet is telling you something is bad and not to do it, and you do it, and you keep it secret because you know they wouldn't approve, that says something about you as a person. and it keeps saying more and more about you as you keep going and encountering ethical quandaries.

But they already have one(1) trans character. Four - if they will follow my headcanon about Duren being a huge country inhabitated by dickgirls.
There must be something in the water.
The series always had its pozzed garbage moments but when characters like these started showing up I knew it was all over.
Season 4 is looking like an absolute shitshow.
I assumed the authors point was that Hange didn't have an orientation, they were Titan focused. That was just misconstrued in the translation process, since English handles pronouns differently, and tons of people are idiots that can't handle they/them.
I don't want to derail this discussion, but Hajime Isayama did clarify in interviews that Hange didn't consider herself of any gender, and the translations teams have been instructed to use they/them >[W]hat I said is exactly what we were told. Isayama-sensei has asked us not to use gendered pronouns to refer to Hange. When he told us this, we went back through Vol. 5 and removed the couple of gendered pronouns we had used for reprint. That is all.
He also explained in an interview that she was based on Matsuko Deluxe, a Japanese Transvestite LGBT activist from the early 2000s
But again, nobody takes it seriously, doesn't help her (awesome) VA is a women

>Claudia manage to not only spend years killing people so she could revive her zombie dad back from the dead...she also managed to get a boyfriend despite the fact that her father is a huge human supremist
What the frick? It weird we went from last season with humans and elves being at each other throat to, "Oh, okay I guess we'll frick elves now."
Did anyone notice the Danish text in that book about Aaravos? >Aaravos > Finally he told me his name. I had never heard a name like his, but I also had never imagined an elf like him. He is stronger, older and wiser than any other magical being in Xadia. Nonetheless he is a friend for all humans. Where others look down on us, calls us inferior, he sees great potential in us. When we accept the offerings/gifts Aaravos has promised us, they will pay for their conceitedness/condescension, they will be forced to see us as equals. When we are equals, we will take our destiny/fate in our own hands and build our future. I see it before me (in my dreams).
I sometimes wonder what it's like to walk out into the world and see cause for prejudice in everyone who looks just slightly different. Like seeing a Communist or Nazi lurking everywhere during wartime.
Like who the frick has the energy to hate on strangers when there are real fricking enemies out there.
They've said nothing about it. I wouldn't be surprised if they never addressed it or said viewers could headcanon whatever they preferred.
I doubt the trans VA would be particularly offended if people wanted to interpret the character as cis male.
Apparently it was indeed confirmed by the voice actor but besides that I can't find anything. And to be honest voice actors say things all the time that may or may not be in fact true all because they feel entitled to their roles, so who the frick knows.
I think what happened is either Claudia or Aaravos put Viren's corpse in stasis and it's taken her two years to figure out how to revive him. This excuses why he's in a cave and still in the same clothes and why he hasn't decayed at all.
F for Viren that wakes up from dead to find his daughter being with some troony abomination.
If we are lucky he will just kill the trans for some spell that will fully restore him, right on time for Aavaros to come out and use his new toy to fully superpower himself.
They would have figured it out eventually that he was hiding somewhere, probably could have used some sort of magic even to find him. It would have just been delaying the inevitable. But Harrow wouldn't do that anyways because he wouldn't want to seem like a coward - you might as well ask why he didn't just leave the kingdom entirely for a night.
I'd more ask why he didn't stay outside without his guards being in station. They really made the king who clearly said he wanted to die to 'end the cycle of violence' take a rest deep inside his castle with guards placed right outside the door? I mean c'mon
>end the cycle of violence >By having the people who have been in a race war with yours for all of recorded history assassinate you, the king
How did someone as moronic with politics as that even become king in the first place?
Becoming a martyr and providing your people with the perfect justification for war (they murdered our ruler) doesn't sound like a solution that will lead to peace
Yeah, she was absent from the first episode. She left Callum behind to hunt for Viren on Callum's birthday. This makes the birthday party in the first episode a bit of a bummer.
There is a lot of negative space in that pic. There will be a final version with all the characters eventually.
You don't tease a season by giving everything away up front.
currently rewatching the show and one can really see the animation improve over time during season 1. the last three or so are like night and day compared to the first three
I remember when the show started, I thought Opeli might be another antagonist but also an enemy to Viren, and that there might some degree of fun court intruige with every character having their own motivation, philosophy and agendas.
I'm actually surprised at how few fricks I give about everything that happens in the story due to how badly they've done anything with the worldbuilding. All they've done is shuttle characters from conflict-to-conflict and we still really don't know what the penalties for using Dark Magic are despite it being used to great effect to drive the events of this story.
I think the only character I actually give a shit about is Viren, who in a darker story would actually be the protagonist. Viren and his little bug pal.
Even the copious and actually excessive amount of 11/10 waifus in this story can't make up for how goddamn hollow so much of the story has been.
I don't want or need Viren to be the protagonist, but I end up rooting for him because half the time it feels like the characters oppose him just because they don't like him.
Oh Aanya won't join Viren because she doesn't want to sacrifice the lives of her soldiers when her own kingdom isn't under threat, but when it's to fight Viren for Xadia she has no problem with it?
Like I know he has murderous tendencies, but I have no reason to think characters like Amaya or Opeli do. And if they do know, why where they and Harrow willing to keep him around?
This is one of the major problems with this show's writing. The writer just have him opposed because antagonist, without giving any real believable reason for the characters to be so against him, epically since he was clearly a member of the council.

>i won't join the war you're clearly orchestrating after usurping the throne >but i will join the king you usurped to take you out in the middle of your destabilizing war of aggression where you're also trying to kill the royal family again
Trying to bamboozle monarchies is one of the classic blunders.
Amaya I can believe. Of all the living characters, she has probably known Viren the longest and how narrow-minded and ruthless he can be. On the expedition to retrieve the heart of the magma titan, Viren didn't hesitate to suggest leaving the wounded behind, which would've included her. Plus, Sarai was incredibly distrustful of dark magic, so I feel like that would've rubbed off on her sister and closest confidant.
I know this happens most Dragon Prince threads, but Viren sort of feels like the only character written with any consistent nuance.
Like take Amaya for example. The Dragons are ultimately what lead to her sister's death...yet she'll still side with them against Viren because, "Viren bad". Later on she's cozying up with the Sunelf lady because, I guess shit is cool now. Like why were they even fighting in the first place if everything was going to be hunky dory that quickly?

Well you see anon, the only thing that was missing for the dragon queen to forgive those evil humans and for there to be peace through the whole land was for her to wake up from her coma to see her child aswell as elves and humans working together. Which is what happened in the end, remember her reaction? Everyone is cool and friends now. Except the dark mages, those guys are still literal hitlers.

>If Viren had never kidnapped Zym as an egg, they would've never known peace
Viren solving problems once again, because what would they have done if he hadn't stolen the egg?
Wasn't Azula or whatever she's called basically insane at the end of last season? I really wanna see how she went from that to having a boyfriend (even if it's a troony)
I really wonder if they would have the balls to imply the two are having sex. Just an innocent scene of them waking up in the same bed is enough and even that I don't think they'll do it.
Nyx implying it was about as close to the line as it could get, and they weren't a thing when she was winking at it.
>they just confimed that Rayllum separating
If this is true I swear I'll fricking shoot up their office, Rayllum is the only redeeming part of this garbage
They had Claudia find an entire boyfriend offscreen while she was implied to be trying to revive her boyfriend. The decisions this show makes is baffling to say the least.

They had Claudia find an entire boyfriend offscreen while she was implied to be trying to revive her boyfriend. The decisions this show makes is baffling to say the least.
I mean, technically she found a boyfriend that was missing the one part some women find essential in a boyfriend. The dick.
They confirmed it days ago at SDCC. The episode explicitly states that Rayla left on Callum's birthday.
He no longer thinks of it as his birthday and instead thinks of it as the day she left.
I'm not worried, they wouldn't put such a major focus on Callum still being depressed two years later in the first episode if they weren't gonna use their reunion as a key motivator. Plus, it's not as if they fell out of love, sure Rayla literally left him, but it was meant to protect him, and not as a break-up or seeking emotional distance.
My bet is that Aaravos will manipulate Callum through the mirror with visions of Rayla in trouble which will send him off to Xadia to find her, and the plots at the start of the season will be his search, Viren / Claudia / Terry trying to contact Aaravos, and whatever they've got planned for Ezran / Soren on the homefront.
You are correct. The episode ended with a reaffirmation of Callum's love and a salve to his feelings that she still loves him. It's been a few days so I can't remember who gave him the pep talk.
Give them an inch... >n-not enough representation for trans people! >sure here you go >not enough representation for trans people mid transition!
Hilarious
You literally can't make this shit up. Looking forward to them pulling a young justice and also having a polygamous relationships treated as something healthy
Trans people are what, less than 1 in 1000? Why do they need so much representation? I don't mind the occasional troony character, but this show already had one (the sunfire translator).
They could have a deaf character but why make one an army commander who needs a sign language translator to follow her around at all times. Her inability to communicate immediately with her allies is a huge disadvantage
That would work better if everyone in the army knew ASL
2 years ago
Anonymous
Would knowing ASL be an requirement for the army? is it standard in that medieval style kingdom's education? Is being mute a condition so common in setting that ASL became the norm? It's still a massive disadvantage and inconvenience that they have to put up with. Either way it's a dumb way to represent. It's like Joe being a frontline cop in a wheelchair but taking itself seriously

I was just thinking it'd be handy to communicate between scouts or during ambushes. Times when yelling would be a bad idea.
On a pitched battlefield it would suck. You can't gesture if you have a sword and board.

Since a number of causes for hearing problems are genetic, it actually was fairly normal before the modern era for there to be small and relatively isolated communities and villages that were full of deaf or hard of hearing people, and in those kinds of places everyone would learn sign language.

It would be highly localized though, like only that village would understand.
Like whistling languages that only crop up in versly specific highland cultures.
The VA being trans doesn’t mean the character is trans, anon. A black man can voice a white character and a white woman can voice an Asian character. That’s how VA works.
This doesn't say that Terry is trans.
Absolutely nothing has implied it. Be it in the video itself or elsewhere.

Man, the royals in DP are some of the most awful I've seen in fiction yet the writer's try to portray them as good
I actually really like Harrow. The idea of a man who wants to think of himself as good but never questions how the power he weilds as King makes all of his orders and decisions coercive, and how his refusal to see that creates problems for others to clean up.
His monologue about Lady Justice and of all men being equal is a great demonstration of his own hypocrisy.
The only problem is that the writers don't seem aware of those flaws either.
Allegedelly the female writers that were fired tried to warn Ehsaz about how full of shit the characters were and that Viren was the hero of the show but Ehsaz went full objectivistic
>tfw I was hooked to this show due the sibling dynamics of Claudia and Soren reminded me of how me and my twinsis used to be back when we were younger >find me having feelings of their stuff hitting way too close to home in really too many levels >realized that was because Claudia is a carbon copy of my twin-sis and Viren reminds me of my dad >suddenly my brain photoshops them over their characters automatically and now I get confused boners with Claudia
I swear Im not a moron like Soren
So is this really what Ehasz has become? Can we cope by saying it's all the other writers fricking it up?
Does Ehasz need Mike and Bryan as much as they need him?
>Can we cope by saying it's all the other writers fricking it up?
Ehasz is the one of the higher ups isnt he? In that no, not even a little. Even in cases where the employers do a stinky the fault falls on the boss for either not training them, not garanteeing they follow the standards, or just being dumb. And if what
Allegedelly the female writers that were fired tried to warn Ehsaz about how full of shit the characters were and that Viren was the hero of the show but Ehsaz went full objectivistic
says is true, Ehsaz is one of those writers that needs a tard wrangler to deliver good shit.
I've got to say that watching Korra and Dragon Prince demonstrated my misplaced faith in the creators with their failure to meet the simple standard of competently told story and characterization has been one of the worst sorts of feelings.
Clearly those other writers didn't get enough credit. And too much credit went to people who weren't very good at their jobs in the first place. I've been a stupid fan and over there all I see are other stupid fans who don't know they're stupid fans.
And the way things are going there's no real group of professional critics who have the balls to call this shit out because YouTubers make their living off whatever scraps the studios throw at them in terms of exclusive content. There's no "cartoon desk" in national newspapers, which in of themselves are struggling and downsizing.
>Clearly those other writers didn't get enough credit. And too much credit went to people who weren't very good at their jobs in the first place
It's one of the reasons we compared ATLA-Korra to Star Wars OT-Prequels. Same stuff happened, people all around Lucas were reigning him in and giving him good ideas for the OT. And those people weren't around for prequels and Lucas was incorrectly seen as some sort of god that made the OT by himself and we saw how that turned out.
And a similar situation happened with the sequels, Kathleen Kennedy ruled those films with an iron fist and the writers were doing what she wanted instead of listening to her input and people didn't understand that. And she wanted garbage.
>Kathleen Kennedy
I didn't watch the Star Wars sequels. But like, couldn't people see this coming a mile away? Like you ask anybody to give one fricking reason to watch the sequels what would they say? Hamill, Ford, Fisher - like haven't we realized the actors don't necessarily make the film? Like Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor are some pretty good names but that sure as frick didn't make the prequels masterpieces.
Like, forget the majority of the population, they get to play the ignorance card. They don't care and they never cared. So whether something is good or not doesn't play into how they spend their money.
How the frick did people who supposedly "care" about Star Wars just happily throw their money at the sequels. And not just one sequel but all fricking three of them. Same goes for the prequels, what kind of justification could anybody give to watch all three of those when the first one was so fricking bad.
Dragon Prince has been greenlit for the next 4 seasons. You fricking people are cancelling your Netflix subscriptions right? You're not paying for this shit anymore right?
I wanted to cancel back when they axed Santa Clarita Diet, I was having fun with that show

I really don't want to be as antagonistic as I'm about to be, but that show was completely moronic. It was just as moronic as Space Force and I swear it must have been written by the same people. They took sitcom-grade family situations we've seen a million times before, applied some wacky context, and packed it with recognizable names and a decent soundtrack budget and pushed it out making subscribers feel like they got something good for their money.
First episode was powerful then it just went to complete shit.

It's definitely not perfect and has ups and downs but I wouldn't put it quite on the same level of travesty as Space Force.

I couldn't believe that the best Tim Olyphant could do after coming off of Justified was Santa Clarita Diet. Drew Barrymore wasn't even acting. "Zombies are purely operating off their id" is not an excuse to phone in a performance.
I'll drop it. But man, I really cannot see what you saw in it.

I like Zombies and Tim Olyphant so that was rather big part of it, also Justified is returning.
To be fair Ehasz was lead writer on ATLA and a lot of the best episodes were written by him. Some of the other writers returned for Korra as well such as Tim Hedrick but we all know how that turned out.
Just play the table top game and look for the supplementary material, because the writers clearly don't give a frick to put all of it in the actual show.
In regards to the dark magic debacles I am guessing Aaron is gonna try to stick it to us and have light magic make its appearance at the end and it'll be just like dark magic only nothing has to die as a huge "HAHA EAT IT gayS" right from Aaron...
The course so far seems to be that humans can theoretically learn elemental magic, given we have an example of that.
If this can be replicated it already makes dark magic superfluous.
An additional kind of magic that is somehow just pure goody goodness would only make any sense for symmetry. But we see they all have power sources, get empowered or something.
If light magic were empowered by the sun or something that would only put it closer to fire magic. Having no obvious source would make i look highly suspicious, I think.
It will have the same sources as dark magic, only the life force will be willingly given out of super symbiotic emotional understand, harmony and kindness.
Eeeeh. I suppose it's possible, but I feel it's thematically redundant as elemental magic already kinda does that and is shown in opposition to dark magic. Also a whole-ass type of magic being in just humans getting along but somehow it goes unnoticed seems weird. We know the Princes have shown to wield some sort of magic each. The talking to animals smacks of Earthblood and Callum flat manifested wings which is covered by the Sky domain.
This shows humans who really listen to others reaching elemental magic. This can get us either to "Yeah, humans are just stupid and not magic. The princes can only do that due to elf blood.", or: "Humans aren't really that different if they only listen."
And I think the latter works much better for the show's message. My guess is that a lot of humans secretly have flickers of magical knacks that just go unnoticed or are kept secret out of fear.
My guess is they will do everything to keep genetic lineage away from capabilities in humans. Particularly royal bloodlines.
That would be ideologically problematic and Star Wars has been criticized for holding up blood relations as indicative of ability. My guess is that they will try to make their main cast not special by virtue of heritage but by their actions and experiences.
So maybe humans are in essence magical blank slates who can develop an affinity, as opposed to Elves who are on a level of their culture attuned to one kind of it. This would make them part of the same system and give them an element of choice and need to learn by listening to others. So if we have now a number of humans very neatly paired up with Elves we might see those humans learn to tap into those kinds of magic. That way Terry would have a narrative purpose beyond making daddy freak.
>Hate elves >Make zero effort to conceal hatred of elves >Use Dark Magic >All elves hate Dark Magic >Die >Get brought back to live 2 years later >Daughter, who also uses Dark magic, brings back an elf boyfriend
>dark magic is bad because we said so >humans are the buttholes because we said so >we established that humans cant use primal magic without a magic rock but let's make an exception for the protagonist just because...hey, remember avatar?
Why is this so hyped again. It's like if ATLA and LOTR had a baby then dropped it on its head a dozen times.
I know that feel of wanting an atla succesor but nothing comes close to this day. ATLA was a lightning in a bottle show that need both Aaron and Bryke together to keep each other in check.
It doesnt help DP that it's supposedly on a "netflix budget" and uses that as a excuse to why they have to rush some pacibg and developments as well as hint at some backstories with the art in the end credits...yet still having multiple season greenlit ahead of time.
Everytime I hear Callum's voice actor talk and trying to recapture sokka like it's open mic night, I roll my eyes.
>and uses that as a excuse to why they have to rush some pacibg and developments
Excuse? It's pretty blatant that the 3rd season had to be rushed because that was the end and they didn't know if they could get more episodes which is why they wrap up stuff but then try to leave a door open.
>we established that humans cant use primal magic without a magic rock but let's make an exception for the protagonist just because...hey, remember avatar?
Can’t believe they ripped off Raine’s design.
I didn't even though of that holy shit
>brown troony ruining the best girl again
Oh god... this can't be happening
>surprised that woke series is wokeshit.
I guess human-elf relationships are the norm now and the bulwark of the dark mage divide was destroyed; allowing Elf degeneracy to infect the minds of innocent humans.
Place your bets: will the Son or daughter be more of a disappointment for him?
Raine??
haha frick
Wow, I can't believe they shaved that one girl's head from Star Vs!
>ruining Kelly with pozzed shit
Kelly was great.
All "non-binary" brown blobs just look the same.
What did they mean by this?
That trannies all look the same?
they dont look the same or similar at all though
What you are saying does not hold up to the squint test.
Wouldn't be the first time.
More like it shows how lazy Raine's design is
Frick
>Hipster Elves
>Transgender Elves
Why even be fantasy if you're gonna have modern bullcrap in it?
Trans gonna tran.
why even have fiction in general if modern rality constantly leaks into it in the most obscene ways
It gets even worst with progressive fantasy literature
i like to think that the war with the elves has united all humans in solidarity, it does not matter if you are black or white or gay or straight, all that matters is killing those damn knife ears.
thats my head canon anyway.
I wish the American animation industry would die already
No, seriously. Frick everything right now.
When did she find time for this between the attempted regicide, genocidal army pillaging, and murdering magical creatures for dark magic?
In the timeskip.
A lot can happen in two years
Timeskip anon, that was rather obvious
I thought dragon prince is canadian
>Boogiepop novels get a second chance due to a new anime in production. Once the anime is over, they refuse to go beyond.
Frick You! How long do i have to wait again?!
Don't worry, gays are dying due to the monkey pox. Blessing in disguise actually, just stay away from gays. Google images of children and babies affected with monkey pox after being touched by a gay before google deletes em
When did she find the time for this?
viren was dead for two years so it's not that farfetched
We're getting a two year timeskip?
yes, get with the times
Fug im gonna have to get shitflix again just to watch this
I was kinda dimly hoping that Callum would be way off base and that earth elves would be a bit more like dwarves, however unlikely that always was.
"Treehugging dirt worshippers" is a weak theme when the whole race is like that anyway.
what a cute twink
wait he's kind of cute
So, is EVERY human character just gonna get an elf fricktoy in this series?
>Callum has an elf girlfriend
>Amaya has an elf girlfriend
>Claudia has an elf boyfriend
>Viren has an elf boyfriend
Meanwhile, Runaan and Ethari are the only still living couple that isn’t interracial (though Ethari thinks Runaan is dead).
>Ethari thinks Runaan
Might as well be considering what happened.
Ah well, still rooting for Viren as the proxy for all the evils of white men. Hopefully he and his Twink Star Elf can embrace their love.
I wish I had an elf boyfriend
>two year timeskip
>but Aaravos caterpillar still only just spun himself into a cocoon a couple days ago
So, did Claudia just have a pet caterpillar the size of a boa constrictor for the past two years? Which she kept next to her dad’s corpse in some cave? For two years?
>I kept a fake cocoon next to me father, as a joke
The story is simultaneously a year later but also only a few weeks later at most, whichever is most convenient for the plot at any given moment.
>Viren gave Claudia's boyfriend the stonewall. No hand shake. No words. Just disapproving eyes.
I mean that's pretty much his default expression.
This all sounded very plausible except for the semen part.
That's because it's all correct except the parts within the parenthesis.
>she's fricking an elf while using dark magic to bring her human fascist father back to life
This is such a baffling character direction I can only assume it was mandated by Netflix.
Yeah it’s weird, like is he an elf race traitor who just thinks humans and their dark magic is just the coolest shit or what?
Since earth elf magic is supposed to pertain to life and healing, I guess the two of them probably figured out the necromancy spell together. Maybe he really wanted to see a corpse get reanimated for some reason, and she was the only other person to get behind that.
Didn't really think about it like that. This 'guy' may be the biggest race traitor I've seen in fiction.
It's going to be either one of this
> dark magic is now succubus sex magic
uhhhhh aaron ehasz
dark magic is supposed to be evil????
hello????
>dark magic is supposed to be evil????
We know of exactly 5 dark mages and only two of them were evil.
>Aaravos just goes "YESSSSS!"
Someone make a Beast Wars Megatron edit using Aaravos, they are already purple.
>the fact it's still a story for young adults
Weird way to say "its for kids"
You would not believe the hard mental gymnastics some people go through to avoid admitting they non ironically enjoy a children's work, like people who buy those Harry Potter editions with super serious covers.
The kids section at the library is shit like Franklin and Arthur. The young adults section is shit like Harry Potter and Twilight.
What category do you think Dragon Prince would be placed under? Or have you ever stepped into a library before?
Even her own dad asked Claudia to stop being so Claudia. Her daftness is an in-universe meme to which all other daftness is compared.
claudia
pl. claudias
Noun
1. the daughter of high mage Viren
2. a daft b***h
3. a basic unit of measure through which the severity of horse braps is determined
Examples
"Not everyone speaks claudia, Claudia!"
"Dude, my horse just cut 2.3 claudias and I think it gave me cancer!"
You act as this chick with a masculine vegana won't be the reason Claudia turns on her father and goes back to the "good side". Just thinking about it makes me queasy.
>date and support homeless chick for like a year
>finally meet her recently zombified father
>he instantly acts like YOU’RE the one out of place here
>>he instantly acts like YOU’RE the one out of place here
Zombie dad is right, tho
The father is completely correct though
Only the dad is allowed to have an effeminate elf boyfriend?
She is only following his example.
If a man has an effeminate boyfriend, he is simply exerting his superior masculinity over another. If a daughter has one, then its a red flag that's she's becoming a lesbian.
Haha, Terry, you're banging my daughter.
>Not doing the "I have committed multiple war crimes." line on Viren in the last panel.
That's not her trans boyfriend, dumb dumb, that's her trees boyfriend. Get it right, you insensitive clod.
more like a twink kiwi
I think OP thinks he’s trans because of the breast binder.
The VA is trans
incest bros nooo..
You know, one of the great things about being anarchist is getting away with transphobia
Frick trannies. At least Claudia can get with a normal girl after this sad troon dies.
Oh my goodness, it’s so inclusive… I’m… I'm gonna… I’M GONNA INCLOOOOOOOOOOD
Ehasz needs to stop watching Marvel movies.
>racism
What racism?
I didn't want to say transphobia ... because that's a guy's voice coming out of a character that's identified with male pronouns.
As far as I can tell he just has a girly waist and is wearing a crop top because he's a fricking elf.
With how TERFs and their phrenology AIs are behaving, half the fun of transphobia seems to be misidentifying people as trans.
>"terf"
YWNBAW, terrorist scum
You can't just toss that at everyone who disagrees with you in the vague hope you are talking to a trans woman.
I mean, you can. But for all men and enbies you are just affirming their gender. And for cis-women it's just weird.
You know that you are going after 0.1% of the population here, right?
While cis people are like 99%.
So your hit rate is probably about 1 to 1000 in the general population as you are yelling this at random strangers online.
the demographic distribution curve of Cinemaphilemblr is drastically skewed though, same with tw*tter
Even if it skews hundred-fold you are at a 10% hit chance.
one in every ten anons still means that there is atleast 10 posters in this thread, according to unique ips
You're trash and you belong in a garbage can
Crazy dark wizards are also allowed to date, anon. She had two years alone with a corpse dad and sexy cocoon.
The dragon queen told everyone that viren can talk and has a family so they let him be obviously
She eas probably sacrificing boyfriends to her dead father, which she was going to do to current boyfriend but her father woke up and she just ran with it.
That would be amazing
Dragon Prince has a bad problem with maintaining tension. Usually every conflict must be resolved in the most unsatisfying way possible.
Yeah but their fine now see?
It was just a couple of bad dudes on both sides ruining things for everyone. The Elves and Dragons didn't have a history of supremecist beliefs against humans that have never been reckoned with, it was just one Dragon whose gone now.
All the humans had to do was get rid of their one guy and the Xadians are totally chill with them! Most humans agree Dsrk Magic is gross anyway.
> it was just one Dragon
lol the moon dragon also wanted to genocide all the humans but was only stopped by aaravos
Didnt even viren's own wife leave him because of him doing dark magic?
Seems like being a dark magician in this setting is akin to being a doctor everyone else also hates
don't forget that the only reason why he used dark magic in that case was to heal their son from a deadly illness
literally hitler, his wife did the right thing
>Listen, putting racism aside for just one second... I know it's hard, but try it.
Reddit
Seems like a straightforward male elf to me. A little odd that he's a kiwi, but I guess they've established that different elves have different accents.
This. I don't think anyone would have gotten that Terry's trans without being told about it beforehand. All they would have gotten from this clip is that Terry's a sheepfricker.
I mean, if Terry is trans it would also be kind of weird for the binder to be on full display like that. The point of that garment is to be hidden for effect, and if nobody cares about body shape then there's no reason to wear one at all.
Yeah I'd suck him off.
Good for her.
>Dude chill, its a twink hahahaha
Voiced by a troony though? Or maybe it's a new policy, like only POC can voice POC, where they have to hire at least 1 troony.
Except the policy is not that minorities can only voice their minority. The assumption only works in the direction of character > actor.
google "blackrock.inc"
Hurry up and GENOCIDE all nonhumans
Terry is going to get fricking murdered I'm calling it right now. Also were the frick your getting the trans shit from it's not even implied in the video
Claudia had to murder a large animal just to Fix Soren's back. What atrocity did she and the elf boy-girl do to bring back Viren?
Killed a dude. Also sacrificed a couple of boobs, but they were gonna throw them out anyway.
That’s it I give up. I am moving to Cinemaphile
>The first episode of the new season has Janai proposing to Amaya with some weird fire elf Tumblr group dance.
I don't even care about dykes, they haven't had the screentime for the audience to even care unless you're the kind of moron the squees regardless of what happens on the screen.
Seriously. I'll pay attention when Soren gets a daddy. Lesbians are boring.
this porn is pretty wholesome.
The horn joke is pretty funny
Also holy shit mods are you lazy
But this clearly sounds like a guy unlike the Raine abomination.
Confirmed on Twitter character is trans by troony voice actor.
Probably wont be acknowledged in the show
What's the source on the guy being a troony or even a pronoungay?
troony VA
The VA being trans doesn’t mean the character is trans, anon. A black man can voice a white character and a white woman can voice an Asian character. That’s how VA works.
>That’s how VA works.
Not anymore grandpa
Helluva boss a trans voiced a woman.
That character was also confirmed to be a troony
She gave birth to kids
Shinji's from Evangelion new VA was a troony tho.
That mf is getting others roles, male roles
translation VA's dont count, they are not directly involved with the original production
You clearly don't understand that Girl va's voice boy va's all the time.
>Only exception is when the character is white
or Asian
Erin made her bed. Now lie in it.
This doesn't say that Terry is trans.
Absolutely nothing has implied it. Be it in the video itself or elsewhere.
Oh that’s all? Was thinking the character was a troony themselves. Also how did you even fricking find out about this?
The wiki is referencing to some twitch on the DP discord but I'm too lazy to check it out
Any proof she's a troony? Did we see her before this?
I dropped this show after season 1.
>BLM
>Stop Asian Hate
How heckin' problematic.
>Any proof she's a troony? Did we see her before this?
No proof. He only appears at the end of the episode and only gets a few lines.
Her voice only works because Americans aren’t well versed in distinguishing other accents. If she was American it would be easier to tell like with the high guardian spice abomination.
Also I feel bad for this fat woman with the pedostache.
So what's the dick situation?
I think Viren is big enough of one for the whole family.
Alright so what makes you say the elf is trans?
i kinda hoping that Claudia as she becoming more and more of a evil witch is simple using the elve boy for a future ritual where she sacrifices him
Now with even more fail.
yeah, the dragon prince magic system has a lot of weird similarities with colour magic from Warhammer Fantasy. the issue there is in Warhammer Dark magic is very corrupting giving the caster Mutations and generally other bad shit so it makes sense why you would not want people using it that does not really exist in Dragon prince.
It exists, they just made it too kid friendly
but it really only corrupts the person it not like Viren took over the Kingdom it turn into Trannsalvia which is what Dark magic does in Warhammer
I consider the rpg to be better canon so I concede the point.
Have some more Gallagher art so we may reflect on how boring and generic this sow looks.
yeah but any classic Warhammer Fantasy but artists like Smith, Blanche, or miller would be a b***h to animate properly with 3d models so it unlikely to something with that style(have not seen the Warhammer + animations)
>have not seen the Warhammer + animations
They suck, dont bother
that is what I thought
You're confusing dark magic and Sorcery.
Dark magic skims the edge of sorcery, harnesses dark spirits and other shit.
Sorcery is straight up chaos voodoo.
Then once they perform dark magic for the first time they get that weird fever dream (where Callum chose the single element over dark magic), which now linked him (personally) to that element.
>human can't do any spells
>do dark magic exactly 1 (one) time
>fever dream
>choose an element or dark magic
>if element they are now linked to that element and can cast magic same as any other race connected to that element but dark magic probably won't work for them anymore
>if dark magic they don't get fever dream any more from using dark magic anymore (and are stuck with dark magic only forever)
I don't see how killing a butterfly for breakfast is any worse than eating bacon for breakfast.
Thats perfectly fine. Frick the human race. I'll be dead by then its not like living is enjoyable now
We've seen three dark mages in the show total.
Also the bit where there are apparently existing spells using dragon components, like who would have thought the dragons would get pissed off.
>The people who burn excess amounts of gasoline without thinking about it are killing Magma Golems
If burning gasoline was the solution to stop hundreds of thousands from starving to death I would set fire to a pool's worth of gas without thinking twice
You say that as if the elves aren't themselves farming livestock and eating meat, let alone that the show condems meat eating amongst humanity.
Only the Moonshadow Elves are vegetarian.
If you actually gave a shit about the environment, you would be advocating for nuking China.
Nuking only causes more problems with fallout. We'd lose Hawaii, the west coast, and part of the western inland states.
As opposed to extinction level death via climate change?
One week of strategic bombing of China's infrastructure would completely and permanently cripple the nation and lead to the deaths of hundreds of millions with no need for nuclear weapons.
The problem is you guys see every criticism as white genocide, an us vs them game
if you were so sincere about bridging the gap between your innate tribalism then you would have supported the previous presidents intiative to bring industry back to the states where they can be more "meaningfully regulated". you're also completely ignoring their own local industries and exploitative sweatshops which you would be more aware of if you weren't so self centered and made assumptions about the races of anons.
Again with the us vs them. Didn't your orange dad deregularize enviromental laws in US soil? That sound like if he got his way, America would be the post-apocalyptical shithole instead
I can clearly see that your ego has blinded you to taking a more open minded approach at seeing the situation. If one country becomes so overbearing then people will simply move to another and start industry there. Other countries alwayd have the desire for economic growth and such how will you regulate someone who is no longer a citizen of your own country? Continue crying at a national stage with the threat of military?
Just saiyan a system build on infinite growth with finite resources is insane. What's so terrible wirh asking a different economical system? Our current economical system started in the 80s when Reagan/Thatcher imposed it through all the globe by force, either by blackmail, menace and buying local politicians or directly by invasions. US vs them don't work when we all live in the same planet.
Anyway, TDP fricking sucks.
> started in the 80s
anon how much do you actually know about world history
>Muh communism is actually muh capitalism
Bomb india too then, they dump more literal shit in the water than the rest of the world a hundred times over.
lol and what if the enviromental concerns are addressed while allowing the practice to continue?
https://www.kcrw.com/news/shows/greater-la/schools-decathlon-carbon-soil-climate/wasted-harnessing-plants
I'm glad to hear you support expanded use of nuclear power, anon.
both moronic fluff added recently to justify the moronic morals
The unicorn extermination was a retcon.
Well in interviews (OF COURSE NOT IN THE FRICKING SHOW) they reveal the reason it's SUPER DUPER EVIL is because it also uses up your own soul. At least that's one of the things given. However, is someone not entitled to using up their soul if they so choose?
> sacrifice your own soul and a few flowers to heal people
> literally hitler
WHO DO YOU THINK THAT SOUL BELONGS TO?
THAT SOUL BELONGS TO EVERYONE!!!
as always, the issue with dark magic has never been "hurrr is there any proof??? durrr look at the good you can do!!!"
it's that when everybody on the fricking planet is telling you something is bad and not to do it, and you do it, and you keep it secret because you know they wouldn't approve, that says something about you as a person. and it keeps saying more and more about you as you keep going and encountering ethical quandaries.
at some point you decided that you were the arbiter of life and death. that you deserved to have the great power, that you knew best how to allocate resources, and that everyone else on the planet was a moron for not slaughtering deers and dragons by the millions to get what they wanted.
maybe tracking spells are really hard in this universe????
claudia killed a dragon with a griffin feather and could have harvested enough materials from that dead dragon to do many, many times more things.
it's partially that exponential growth / laddering of power that makes dark magic dangerous. it invokes the peter principle - because there are no limits, and it's so easy to ladder from one stage of power to the next, you can be a good, responsible user of dark magic all the way until you aren't. callum doesn't get more power when he uses his storm orb to kill a dragon. claudia does. and she can just keep falling upwards, justifying herself at every point, until she encounters a situation she's NOT qualified to make the right decision about.
viren was able to change the seasons with something's dead body part. if you can end a famine, you can start one. why does claudia deserve to have that power, just because she hasn't thus far made any morally monstrous decisions? it was okay when she killed a few deer to save her brother, why does that magically mean she's qualified to decide what the weather should be?
>it's that when everybody on the fricking planet is telling you something is bad and not to do it, and you do it
There's generally an expectation that there should be a reason, consistent with other views, that can be cited. Blind obedience isn't exactly the kind of virtue the show pushes in other respects, so why only with Dark Magic?
>that everyone else on the planet was a moron for not slaughtering deers and dragons by the millions to get what they wanted.
Not required for Dark Magic to function.
A spell that uses dragon bits uses dragon bits.
The show would have had better legs to stand on if it avoided treating anything as inherently evil and had better world building.
>spells using dragon parts and dragon babies exist
>boy it sure is weird that the dragons kicked us out when we refused to stop using magic that consumed their bodies and children
> culinary recipes that use dragon meat exists
god forbid we need to ban food forever
I mean, a chef is welcome to try that out in front of a dragon and see what it thinks.
if they progress metallurgy enough to make tungsten-tipped ballistas then all it would take is a good blow to he head
i accept your concession
Concession of what?
that the dragons need to ban food from the continent
Uh huh. Well, don't let me stop you making up more irrelevant non-points to cry about.
yeah dark magic using dragon parts is an irrelevant non-point because it can literally use anything as fuel in the first place
good on you for agreeing with me and comming to the same conclusion
>moving goalposts
>now simply lying
Concession accepted.
pretending he didnt post ;^)
> Concession accepted.
accepting your own concsession I see
Sorry but the reason the food comparison comes up is because it's comparable.
They will then point to the human kingdoms and how they've been utterly stripped of magical life and explain THAT was the result of Aaravos consuming the magic from that entire half of the continent to fuel some petty fricking megalomaniac scheme of his.
>turns out the real dark magic was personal liberties the whole time
it seems like your deal with dark magic is that you keep projecting your enviromentalist beliefs onto the show
spoilers: they made dark magic neutral in their own tabletop game
its like necromancy, people are eventually going to use it for good anyways
Sounds like you want the show to have better writing and consistent logic than it does, but that's not the show.
> dark magic is bad because you cant meaningfully regulate it
thats the same for all the other magic types, as well as dragons who can basically nuke a city if they wanted to
>thats the same for all the other magic types, as well as dragons who can basically nuke a city if they wanted to
you can meaningfully regulate those things because if someone breaks the rules, or finds a loophole in the rules, the damage they can inflict before you bring the might of the law on them is predictable and measurable. you can prepare anti-dragon measures. you can set up a fire brigade.
what measures exactly are you taking against dark magic, which literally does anything? some hobo in the streets mind-swaps himself into a wealthy merchant because he happened to find a two-dicked albino hamster in the sewers. you can't defend against every vector of attack, and you can't prevent the spread of information once it's out there - so the best practice is just to prevent the practice altogether.
the number of resources you'd need to effectively police an entire nation of dark mages would massively outweigh the benefits. oh, goody, you stopped the famine! but now you need thirty thousand trained inquisitors enforcing martial law on the population so that no bozo gets the bright idea to try and reverse your hard work.
it literally is neutral. the thing about most things like dark magic, "i swear guys it's not bad it's all about how you use it", the people who select THEMSELVES to be the bearers of that great power are usually the ones you don't want bearing it. the magic itself may or may not be evil, but the PEOPLE absolutely are evil.
>what measures exactly are you taking against dark magic, which literally does anything? some hobo in the streets mind-swaps himself into a wealthy merchant because he happened to find a two-dicked albino hamster in the sewers. you can't defend against every vector of attack, and you can't prevent the spread of information once it's out there - so the best practice is just to prevent the practice altogether.
>These are things which can easily be mass-produced
How?
Industry, my boy
>what measures exactly are you taking against dark magic, which literally does anything?
Because the show's logic is not well thought out.
>that exponential growth.
Don't see it.
Is Dark Magic a person now?
>because there are no limits
Then set limits, regulate. Something being dangerous doesn't make it inherently evil.
Heck, unlike Primal Magic, Dark Magic's fuel isn't limitless and isn't even easy to access.
>you can start one
You don't need magic to create a famine.
>it's that when everybody on the fricking planet is telling you something is bad and not to do it, and you do it, and you keep it secret because you know they wouldn't approve, that says something about you as a person. and it keeps saying more and more about you as you keep going and encountering ethical quandaries.
Appeal to popularity, bye bye.
>and you do it, and you keep it secret because you know they wouldn't approve, that says something about you as a person.
Just like being in a relationship with a black person during slavery, am I right? Shut up with you moronic reasoning, turd.
The only good thing to come from this fricking travesty of a story.
I hope it gets used as dark magic material
There's always a negative to every industry, but the problem is that 90% the time the source isn't respected. Like a tiny of this and that and call it a day and make your own shit along the wayI know, i know we wouldn't have harley quinn if we had those rules in place. We're seeing some progress with Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and other shit, yet we have problems with art style and variety. There just too many damn super hero cartoons follow the same theme! Hell! Have you seen the new Spider man. Same back story over and over again. At least in the past we had Spider-Man Unlimited, but frick that, lets not explore and stick what is safe. FRICK! I miss Batman: Gotham Knight. That shit was smoking, especially dat In Darkness Dwells (Madhouse) shit! Just remembering it give me orgasm beyond belief. Going to stop typing, because i'm losing it and not staying straight. Jesus i'm going watch that shit...THANK YOU JAPAN!
Not gonna lie. He cute.
>he
yes, he cute
>Trees to meet you
lmfao I thought Callum just made that up
He's a trailblazer
When you do a racist stereotype
And get it right on the money!
mothefricker is wise beyond his age
So is the trans thing confirmed or is it just Cinemaphile being Cinemaphile as usual?
The latter.
Just trying to manufacture outrage again.
I am glad I never decided to watch this.
Remember when fantasy actually felt like it took place in a far off time and place instead of just being America with dragons and shit? I miss that.
IDK go watch Primal that fits the bill you want
Is the new season any good? I got a little bored around the time Fang temporarily died and never picked it back up after the hiatus.
I've only watched the first episode but seems good so far.
well, most of fantasy is just European countries with white people, dragons and shit
Trans girlfriends are always better.
Feel the power of the israelites
But they already have one(1) trans character.
Four - if they will follow my headcanon about Duren being a huge country inhabitated by dickgirls.
There must be something in the water.
The series always had its pozzed garbage moments but when characters like these started showing up I knew it was all over.
Season 4 is looking like an absolute shitshow.
>But they already have one(1) trans character.
that's non-binary sweetie.
looks like you need a re-education and dick flattening session
>dick flattening
what the frick it even is, some sort of CBT shit?
How is the pron comic still up?
Jannies/mods don't care about Cinemaphile for god sack Alan Grant didn't get a sticky
>find out Alan Grant died from a post complaining about shitty mods
what a world
Jannies only delete things they dont like
>sounds like a guy looks like a guy is refered to as a guy
Yeah none of a "Trans" bs
It’s like Hange from snk. Technically trans/NB but nobody even gays take it seriously
I assumed the authors point was that Hange didn't have an orientation, they were Titan focused. That was just misconstrued in the translation process, since English handles pronouns differently, and tons of people are idiots that can't handle they/them.
I don't want to derail this discussion, but Hajime Isayama did clarify in interviews that Hange didn't consider herself of any gender, and the translations teams have been instructed to use they/them
>[W]hat I said is exactly what we were told.
>It’s like Hange from snk.
Is obviously a woman. Why do they even pretend?
Hange is a woman anon.
He's really really cute tho.
All elves are cute, it's how they get you.
I wish an elf WOULD get me.
I haven't been gotten in years.
>off air for years
>first thing it does is a timeskip
I don't care anymore.
Viren's like "jesus you should have just left me in the ground"
>It was then Viren realized that Soren really was the better child
Did anyone notice the Danish text in that book about Aaravos?
> Aaravos
>Aaravos
> Finally he told me his name.
>Cocoon is spun two days ago
>But uh actually it's been two years
>Callum's new design looks like shit
>New troony elf boyfriend also has shit design
This show just gets worse and worse lmao.
>OP says the troony word
>Everyone believes him even though the clip doesn't say anything about trannies
Forget rent free, it's adverse possession at this point.
I sometimes wonder what it's like to walk out into the world and see cause for prejudice in everyone who looks just slightly different. Like seeing a Communist or Nazi lurking everywhere during wartime.
Like who the frick has the energy to hate on strangers when there are real fricking enemies out there.
Is that e-girl going to "learn magic" from the new mage, Callum?
He is without a girlfriend for a while, right?
I think her whole deal is politics rather than magic. I doubt she’d have room in her life for both, even if she were interested.
Do you doubt the power of bad writers?
I want a possessive scottish elf to claim me forever.
>trans
I thought it was just an effeminate guy
They've said nothing about it. I wouldn't be surprised if they never addressed it or said viewers could headcanon whatever they preferred.
I doubt the trans VA would be particularly offended if people wanted to interpret the character as cis male.
Yeah this is the thing. Its a good thing to have diverse casts in voice acting, we don't want nothing but white dudes getting every job.
But this doesn't mean we have to shoehorn things in or have a 1 to 1 mapping of actor to character when it comes to race gender etc.
I want Phil Lamarr to be able to do Jack or they guy who does Linda on Bob's to be able to have a chance for those roles if it fits the character.
Voice acting is the one discipline of acting where appearance doesn't really matter and thats a good thing not a bad one
No, you can't have "normal" gays in entertainment media, you need to have the butch lesbian be the husband and the wife be really girly.
That's how they get you
Wait was the elf actually confirmed a troon by the creators or is this all made up?
Apparently it was indeed confirmed by the voice actor but besides that I can't find anything. And to be honest voice actors say things all the time that may or may not be in fact true all because they feel entitled to their roles, so who the frick knows.
>fricking an elf
>while bringing back her father who wants to destroy the elves
What I'm really confused about is Terry? Are there race traitor elves out there that are very pro human.
I mean, humans did help to save the dragon queen and prince
Okay, to clarify why is this elf teaming up with humans that specifically wanted to rape Xadia with dark magic.
Now we're getting somewhere
this book will answer all your questions
someone already posted the entire comic in this thread bro
the frick? are the mods dead?
doujin comics are on topic, probably
I liked 2 girls 1 prince slightly more
I haven't read this one. I'll need to find it.
Claudia is irresistible to nerds.
Elves couldnt hang out with humans for 5 minutes without hooking up with them. They have developed a tremendous thirst.
People...still care about this trash?
Put sexy elves and shipping into something and people will care about it regardless of anything else
Sorry, but Dwarves are rarely sexy. And the one time they tried sexy dwarves it fell flat.
clearly they didnt try hard enough
But I LIKE Kili and the multi-hundred thousand word fanfiction series about him surviving and sneaking off with Tauriel.
why are you posting a picture of dead dorf?
I want to FRICK Terry.
she definetely pegs him
That's just the start. She braps on his face all the freakin' time.
Right in the front bussy.
Whole thing was already posted unless mods deleted it. Cant understand why though
We back?
Yes braps and all.
Why do they feel the extreme need to ruin Claudia? She is adorkable, she is smart she is an autist. She didn't needed a "boy"friend.
I think the time skip would've gone better if she brought him back a few days after the battle and they spent 2 years scheming in the shadows.
I think what happened is either Claudia or Aaravos put Viren's corpse in stasis and it's taken her two years to figure out how to revive him. This excuses why he's in a cave and still in the same clothes and why he hasn't decayed at all.
For frick's saek.
F for Viren that wakes up from dead to find his daughter being with some troony abomination.
If we are lucky he will just kill the trans for some spell that will fully restore him, right on time for Aavaros to come out and use his new toy to fully superpower himself.
But then his King will learn about the Dragon Prince egg and then make him feel bad for lying about killing him!
Harrow likely knew about that but didnt care because he was planning to die anyways
I mean c'mon
>end the cycle of violence
>By having the people who have been in a race war with yours for all of recorded history assassinate you, the king
How did someone as moronic with politics as that even become king in the first place?
The cycle of violence only ends when one participant or the other is wiped out.
Becoming a martyr and providing your people with the perfect justification for war (they murdered our ruler) doesn't sound like a solution that will lead to peace
Diversity hire.
I love Claudia...
Sorry. She's taking twink dick.
>new trans boyfriend!
wait is that an actual troony?
No. Nothing in the actual episode gave the impression that he was anything, but a twink softboy that Claudia fell for.
>no Rayla on the poster
Elfbros...
Yeah, she was absent from the first episode. She left Callum behind to hunt for Viren on Callum's birthday. This makes the birthday party in the first episode a bit of a bummer.
Also, it fricking sucks not to hear her accent.
There is a lot of negative space in that pic. There will be a final version with all the characters eventually.
You don't tease a season by giving everything away up front.
I think they assume cause he isn’t THICC like male ones are, even though he still has the stub horns.
Disgusting she deserved the redhead dick
This, they ruined something already very sweet for pushing random cringe quota stuff
>Callum invented dirt elves
>Claudia is dating a dirt elf
Claudia gonna be coping hard this season
>buck broken
currently rewatching the show and one can really see the animation improve over time during season 1. the last three or so are like night and day compared to the first three
That is the hardest part of rewatches. The low frame rate.
I remember when the show started, I thought Opeli might be another antagonist but also an enemy to Viren, and that there might some degree of fun court intruige with every character having their own motivation, philosophy and agendas.
Why did I think that?
Because you’re better than the hack that writes this dreck.
The writer just have him opposed because antagonist, without giving any real believable reason for the characters to be so against him, epically since he was clearly a member of the council.
>i won't join the war you're clearly orchestrating after usurping the throne
>but i will join the king you usurped to take you out in the middle of your destabilizing war of aggression where you're also trying to kill the royal family again
I love how the dragons went from trying to holocaust humanity to erasing any mention of aaravos from human history with a spell and imprisoning him in a mirror and telling no one about him
>If Viren had never kidnapped Zym as an egg, they would've never known peace
Viren solving problems once again, because what would they have done if he hadn't stolen the egg?
Chudbros, how do we keep losing?
Man who TF diddled my elf b***h.
What elf gf will soren get?
She would have to have legendary patience.
The fanart already settled on Nyx as the answer to that question.
I'd like to see images of her hips.
Yesssss...
>Cute
>Rogueish
>Birb
>Legs for days
>Horns bigger than Rayla's
>Street smart
>Can fly
10/10 elf waifu.
>Horns bigger than Rayla's
She must've sucked a LOT of dick.
She's a free spirit.
She goes where she pleases, and she pleases where she goes.
Gods that is hot.
>ya baby oh behave
Imagine the sex.
I wonder if she'd take you high up in the clouds before insertion. Then make you cum before you both his ground.
Her design pisses me off somehow when compared to other elves. I mean, heterochromia and wings? It’s like she’s a DeviantArt donut steel.
That's probably exactly what happened. Someone designed an OCDonut and put her in the show.
Why's he so mad at her for having an elf boyfriend, doesn't he have an elf boyfriend too?
He hates elves would would rather kill all of them. He is also in denial regarding his sexual feelings for Aavaros.
Post cute.
I have such a hard time getting into this show. So many ingredients are right, yet it just kind of bores me.
>Soren not already mid wind-up
>Claudia, I need you to kick me in the box.
Hehehehehheheheehhe
>CANON
>BUSSY
>Varying levels of want
Yeah, but can it fix a broken marriage?
SEX with ELFS
Wasn't Azula or whatever she's called basically insane at the end of last season? I really wanna see how she went from that to having a boyfriend (even if it's a troony)
So, what's her elf bf think about her dark magic?
He is gonna be one of the few B&R elves.
We didn't see his opinion in the first episode. Maybe he finds it hot?
If you can handle her braps you can handle anything.
>they just confimed that Rayllum separating at the end of the comic is canon for the cartoon
HELL
Reunion sex.
I really wonder if they would have the balls to imply the two are having sex. Just an innocent scene of them waking up in the same bed is enough and even that I don't think they'll do it.
Nyx implying it was about as close to the line as it could get, and they weren't a thing when she was winking at it.
Weren’t they already sleeping in the same bed in the comic?
What happened?
>they just confimed that Rayllum separating
If this is true I swear I'll fricking shoot up their office, Rayllum is the only redeeming part of this garbage
They confirmed it days ago at SDCC. The episode explicitly states that Rayla left on Callum's birthday.
He no longer thinks of it as his birthday and instead thinks of it as the day she left.
Looks like they are pulling a RWBY and putting important details in supplementary materials and blaming a lack of budget/time for proper writing
They had Claudia find an entire boyfriend offscreen while she was implied to be trying to revive her boyfriend. The decisions this show makes is baffling to say the least.
>They had Claudia find an entire boyfriend
Better than finding parts of a boyfriend. That'd be weird.
I'll be honest, that would be perfectly in line with Cluadia's character to find half a boyfriend.
... y'know? You're right. I could see her setting up a Frankenboyfriend. It sounds horrific, but she'd find a way to be cute about it.`
I still think Terry could be a golem. It’s weird how much like awkward-mode Callum he is. Or maybe she just has a type.
I mean, technically she found a boyfriend that was missing the one part some women find essential in a boyfriend. The dick.
It's been a few days so I can't remember who gave him the pep talk.
word, thanks for confirming. I remember reading it was Ezran who gave the pep-talk, seems like his style
hnnnnnnnnrrrrrrrggggghhhhh
I need elf pussy RIGHT NOW
Is he canonically trans? Show me your source, please.
It was revealed to me in a dream
Give them an inch...
>n-not enough representation for trans people!
>sure here you go
>not enough representation for trans people mid transition!
Hilarious
You literally can't make this shit up. Looking forward to them pulling a young justice and also having a polygamous relationships treated as something healthy
> polygamous relationships treated as something healthy
God I hope so.
I'd be cool with a healthy trio.
Would knowing ASL be an requirement for the army? is it standard in that medieval style kingdom's education? Is being mute a condition so common in setting that ASL became the norm? It's still a massive disadvantage and inconvenience that they have to put up with. Either way it's a dumb way to represent. It's like Joe being a frontline cop in a wheelchair but taking itself seriously
I was just thinking it'd be handy to communicate between scouts or during ambushes. Times when yelling would be a bad idea.
On a pitched battlefield it would suck. You can't gesture if you have a sword and board.
Real life soliders can communicate with basic forms of military hand signals for the times when they need to stay quiet. It's not a full language but it's enough for the job
It can be pretty complex, but yeah... not a full language.
> Is being mute a condition so common in setting that ASL became the norm?
Since a number of causes for hearing problems are genetic, it actually was fairly normal before the modern era for there to be small and relatively isolated communities and villages that were full of deaf or hard of hearing people, and in those kinds of places everyone would learn sign language.
It would be highly localized though, like only that village would understand.
Like whistling languages that only crop up in versly specific highland cultures.
Oh so the character IS a troony.
morons
OP here, i was joking i honestly thought he was just a twink, not surprised or anything just.. disappointed
Frick. They have been insufferable since Korrafrickingsami.
>"Give them an inch and they ask for mile."
Bryke just wanted a distraction so people couldn't focus on how shit of a finale the Korra series had and it blew up so hard that even aaron had to pull this shit
>Cute twink character is actually a girl
Hate it when this happens.
I don't think Pidge was much of a twink.
>king starves his people to death and gives their food to ally kingdom and his people dont put his head on a pike and he doesnt even have the kingdom that he put his ass on the line for in his debt because they are ruled by a smug child
>prince arrives to the battlefield riding a dragon and happily torches his own soldiers with an innocent smile on his face
Didn't Giancarlo Volpe leave quietly and stopped promoting S3 around the same time?
Not so quietly
Aaron's definitely a bit dumb about certain things. But he has a lot of credit with me for ATLA so I'm gonna let this slide
Soren, balls deep in
>tfw I was hooked to this show due the sibling dynamics of Claudia and Soren reminded me of how me and my twinsis used to be back when we were younger
>find me having feelings of their stuff hitting way too close to home in really too many levels
>realized that was because Claudia is a carbon copy of my twin-sis and Viren reminds me of my dad
>suddenly my brain photoshops them over their characters automatically and now I get confused boners with Claudia
And if what
says is true, Ehsaz is one of those writers that needs a tard wrangler to deliver good shit.
Pretty sure it was the 15 other writers/directors working together with them that made ATLA what it was
Bryke just made some humor and made their Avatar story bible of rules (that they basically ignored for Korra lol)
I wanted to cancel back when they axed Santa Clarita Diet, I was having fun with that show
.com
Some of the other writers returned for Korra as well such as Tim Hedrick but we all know how that turned out.
i love these bastards so much
trans boyfriend? or is that a girl before trans? the frick is this shit? or is this daughter a trans that was a guy before trans??
Canonically Terry is mid-transition, according to the VA.
Claudia is very much cis.
Episode 1: Gay wedding proposal.
Are we pretending to be surprised that women wielding swords all day are lesbians?
when does this new season come out?
November.
ok thnx
Just play the table top game and look for the supplementary material, because the writers clearly don't give a frick to put all of it in the actual show.
In regards to the dark magic debacles I am guessing Aaron is gonna try to stick it to us and have light magic make its appearance at the end and it'll be just like dark magic only nothing has to die as a huge "HAHA EAT IT gayS" right from Aaron...
But I'm hoping he won't be such a super-hack.
Also Callum will be revealed to have Elven blood.
>Hate elves
>Make zero effort to conceal hatred of elves
>Use Dark Magic
>All elves hate Dark Magic
>Die
>Get brought back to live 2 years later
>Daughter, who also uses Dark magic, brings back an elf boyfriend
this would never happen but imagine how based it would be if Claudia was just stringing terry along so she could sacrifice him in a magic ritual.
>as if I'd ever love some filthy knife ear.
So does this mean Claudia is gay?
That is a fricking fantastic pic. Who is the artist?
Yes. That "guy" has a vegana. Which means we're getting closer to ClaudiaxRayla dom yuri
there is nothing dark about dark magic, its just knife ear propaganda.
we should start calling it rad magic or radical magic instead.
do you think more human have learned primal magic during the 2 year time skip now that callum has proven its possible.
Frick Terry. If Aaravos isn't fabulous, sassy and evil every episode, they might as well cancel this whole project.
>It's time for your royal dick flattening, Callum.
The horse scene ruined her for me
It's all I ever think about
Unnatural is what it is.
>It's all I ever think about
Could it be that you like it?
>dark magic is bad because we said so
>humans are the buttholes because we said so
>we established that humans cant use primal magic without a magic rock but let's make an exception for the protagonist just because...hey, remember avatar?
Why is this so hyped again. It's like if ATLA and LOTR had a baby then dropped it on its head a dozen times.
We were really desperate for a new ATLA and it does have some cool characters and ideas. But the longer it goes on the worse it gets.
Excuse? It's pretty blatant that the 3rd season had to be rushed because that was the end and they didn't know if they could get more episodes which is why they wrap up stuff but then try to leave a door open.
>we established that humans cant use primal magic without a magic rock but let's make an exception for the protagonist just because...hey, remember avatar?
at least watch the show your mocking.
The dark feels so good~
