In a way I'm glad that I'm the only alcoholic in my family. My dad doesn't drink anymore so he's always watching out for my shit and I've, for the first time in a decade, had to cut way down because of it. It's undoubtedly better than the both of us being drunk all the time and probably getting to the point where the family would implode in some kind of violent final showdown. The last time we fought early in the year I honestly thought that was the end. But ever since I'm stopped raging all the time he's really fine toward me and will even have a couple of drinks with me if we go out to a restaurant. I got really lucky.

The receptionist in my office said to me "Anon, you seem really quiet today. Is everything alright?"
I realized I had been completely sober for almost 24 hours. I told her I didn't sleep well, just tired. Which was true, because I tried not drinking the previous night or that morning.

Keep eating dinner, stop when you feel like you are about to puke, easy as. You will still throw up from time to time especially in social gatherings, but those two elements are key for drinking alone

First day of tapering off beer. Never got serious withdrawals but want to ease myself off so I don't even get the couple nights of gnarly sleep I used to experience going cold turkey.

There was a very good liquor store where I used to live during college.
Lots of good international stuff. Owner manged to acquire CASES of Westvleteren 12 on occasion. €20 for a bottle of beer that smelt like petrol or a pine tree, etc. Owner was near tears when we left and asked if we'd ever come back.
I used to gather round with a few bros where we'd rate movies and and the "carefully" selected booze on a spreadsheet. Kino times.
It was only a matter of time before they saw the light and joined us in druking

Not that expensive but they usually only show up to 1 promille, which is pretty lame. If you want a proper breathalyzer above 1 promille, they get much more expensive. At least last time I checked
