Supposedly Robert Pattinson put in a great deal of effort (actually tried to voice act as opposed to other movies where some celebrity just reads their lines in their own voice) so I'm curious about that.
Except for Miyazaki. You’ll never find a single name dubbing anything but Miyazaki because the US had no dubbing industry. But Miyazaki dubs are handled differently. They used to all be dubbed by Pixar, I don’t know if they did Boy & Heron.

And Willem Dafoe's always a good time.

Yeah. It’s usually a no-brainer to go for subbed, since the dubbing industry is absolute garbage. But Ghibli movies typically have real actors actually trying. You can honestly go either way.
Oh cool it's another episode of people pretending Ghibli dubs aren't complete shit because it's a bunch of famous pedowood actors doing terrible line reads with weird unnatural cadences that have to match the already animated mouth movements instead of nobodies doing the exact same thing
I can’t tell if this is bait or a lost Cinemaphileutist.
Even as a little kid, when I didn’t know who any of the actors were, I noticed Ghibli dubs were exceptional compared to almost all the dubs in run of the mill series. Outliers like Bebop and Baccano do exist, but the industry today doesn’t seem to put in any effort whatsoever.
>Outliers like Bebop and Baccano do exist
Bebops dub is just as bad as any other and the idea that it's better is a soibeard redditor psyop pushed by millennials who have a nostalgic attachment to it because they stayed up late to watch it on Toonami or whatever. Spike has a cool sounding voice that's iconic to a lot of people but the voice acting is far far worse. Baccano is still all the same shitty voice actors that do every other anime it's just in that case they actually fit the setting better. It's fine if you have nostalgic attachment to old dubs, Vic Mignogna will always be my Edward Elric, but that doesn't mean those dubs are of exceptional quality or that casting hollywood actors in new ones will make them not shit
>I’ll always love Billy Crystal’s Calcifer.
Me too but the way that characters mouth moves gives him way more freedom, he didn't have to awkwardly deliver all of his lines like most cases
I watched plenty of old dubs that were shit back in the day, too. Bebop’s dub is great. The whole main cast does a fantastic job. On the other hand, if I turn on a dub today, even of a show I love, it’ll be so bad I can’t sit through 5 minutes.
You don’t always have to be contrarian.
reddit:
>dubbed of course!

Whichever you fricking prefer homosexual

dubbed
american dubbing is typically awful because they really don't give a shit about it in the west

kiefer sutherland was part of the dubbing of armitage III, there's been a number of "name" actors in various dubs.

Original audio without subtitles
Pretty hardcore dedication if its a foreign language
Dubbed will be pozzed

Looking at that awful cast (fricking Florence Pugh) I'll have to go subbed.
neither, i don't watch ghiblislop
It's literally the same boring ass actors they cast in a lot of these Miyazaki dubs. The intended way is sub
He's only ever made one good movie,
the new scott pilgrim anime has proven once again that celebrity voice actors are hot garbage
Dubbed foreign media is for literal NPCs.
Saw it with subs already so that will be the default version for me now
I can't find this anywhere.
Is there a torrent yet?
>can the love between family members defeat the horrors of war?!?
Frick this stupid movie and all Miyazaki pseudos
t. grew up with a shitty family
t. Goro Miyazaki
>normal dubbed anime
trash
>Ghibli dubbed
Usually done by actors so maybe it could be good
nah, celebrity voice actors are trash unless they're comedians or british.
>comedians or british
Weird duo but ok
it's because actors mumble unless they have stage experience
I've seen a bunch of Ghibli movies in theater and sadly it's better to watch them dubbed
The screen is so big to really take in the full image you can't be reading the bottom of the screen
