But He did die, you damn idiot. That's why The Resurrection is the miracle among miracles (besides the literal Son of God walking in our world). He fulfilled the Father's will on earth and now that he glorified the Father, the Father would glorify Him by resurrecting him.

And while they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men; and they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.” And they were deeply grieved.

I think Jesus mindset is commiting basicaly suicide on your own terms like Socrates, he preached peace love and against idolatry and gets crucified because humanity is always gonna kill those people that call out political and social injustice due to their permament hypocrisy and spiritual moronation. At this point its almost kind of a pride issue for Jesus by showing that having pride in the face of the pointless evil of the world is the way to go. He doesn't even answer Pilate's question "what is truth?", his silence there is deafening.

If you think about this way Jesus is very chad I think, gives no fricks and yolo's out of existence laughing. The fact that his last words are "father why have you abandoned me" furthers the claim that some kind of cosmic suicide is happening. All this "died for our sins" never made sense to me, he simply had enough of the evil and ignorance of our world and peaced out.

For Scorsese, Catholicism is nothing more than a part of Italian identity, instead of Italian identity existing because of Catholicism. Scorsese considers the criminal aspect of Italian identity to be his true religion, which is why he constantly flirts with and glorifies gangsters or a life of sin. If you get a chance, watch the Casino commentary, where Scorsese explains that mafia bosses are like pagan gods. Pagan gods that Scorsese does not hesitate to praise and glorify in his films.

I did. The answer is no.

Taking all his words at absolute face value and believing he literally worships mafia Gods shows that your mind is much too simple and literal to interpret something as complicated and metaphoric as the Bible

Look man, I'm tempted to give you a serious explanation, like I'm not saying that Scorsese literally sacrifices to pagan gods, but rather he was metaphorically expressing that he idolizes the mafia as pagan gods, and the Casino interview is to give context to the way Scorsese perceives the world.
With that said, you've done nothing but continue to throw a tantrum from the beginning, your comments were never serious and I don't think they deserve a serious response, this is the closest you'll get.

it is if your daddy told you that you needed to be nailed to the cross just because he fricked up and gave free will to sinning apes and you need to wipe their sins away.

I'm not sure if this will make any more sense to you or come across as anything but "lol some israeli guy had schizophrenia," but here goes.

Jesus hears a voice claiming to be God that he can also clearly tell is himself. He doesn't want to believe that he's God because he doesn't expect anyone else to think he's sane upon hearing that, but he is eventually left no choice but to acknowledge that he's somehow God and Jesus at the same time.
Over the course of the film he grapples with the responsibility of being a human incarnation of God and tries to figure out what he needs to do with his life in light of that information. He starts preaching because he truly believes he has things to say that people need to hear. He explores the limits of his faith in this belief by attempting to, and succeeding, to perform miracles, which in turn causes his fellowship to grow.

He eventually comes to the conclusion that he needs to die in a symbolic manner in order to get his point across: that love and the pursuit of a virtuous life is the correct way to live, and that people's actions speak much louder than words. Death is already a scary experience for a human being, and the manner in which he was executed was exceptionally horrific, so during his crucifixion his mind wandered, and he began to imagine what his life would be like if he hadn't died on the cross.
He gets what every man wants upon denying the duty that God gave him. God doesn't even stop him from doing it, but Jesus sees what his flakiness would do to his followers and decides to fulfil the promise he made to them. He has tears of joy in his eyes when he reaches this decision after having spent the majority of the film doubting himself and dreading his fate.

I was kinda under the impression that striving to be Christlike was the entire point of the religion. It's really weird that this is such a big point of contention for some people.

Blew my mind as a kid when it was revealed that Satan was behind it all in the end.
It really makes perfect sense for it to be him. In the context of the war between Heaven and Hell, the devil knows that the day Christ dies on that cross is the day he loses, he would do everything in his power to stop that.

It even makes sense in the context of Jesus as human first. He goes through this whole spiritual insecurity, like he's being forced into dying for us, following orders, and when given a chance to sin and stray from his path he's actually given the chance to choose. Christ chooses to return to the right path, just like we can do in our lives.

And lastly, by allowing Jesus to sin and to choose, God allows the Devil to win if his son chooses to stay. But he knows Jesus will choose the cross, so all he can do is have faith. At the most important moment, God can have faith in mankind as well.
    it's just perfect
