Gen Xers were obsessed with pursuing the fairytale marriages they grew up around in a word that had since changed. Yes they really did try to marry every woman that looked at them. It's 100% accurate

As I've gotten older the show has been funnily enough been proven right time and time again. Friends proposing to girls that are clearly wrong for them only to divorce 2yrs later or even call off the wedding. Friends stuck in dead end jobs they're too petrified to leave. Friends falling in love with the first moronic girl that acknowledged their existence.

The writers' other sitcoms are all like this and most of them stink tbqh. I genuinely don't hold whatever cynical/nihilistic view they do, but it's like that's expected of the viewer.

Back was good for a short while, but only because of the mystery element of "is this guy actually some kind of sociopath?" But even "regular" characters were grey blobs of how-awful-life-is. The priest is a con artist because religion is bullshit. Ageing is miserable. Alcoholism, we all turn to it, right? Alternative medicine, too smart for that bullshit, us. Even in death, families are dreadful.

One-trick ponies. And I loved Peep Show at its peak.

Actual kitchen sink/social realism tackles this head-on.

Middle-class Londoners feeling like it's miserable that we all have to queue at Sainsbury's and some bastard buys the last quiche? Yeah man, truly a grey and unpleasant land.

Conversely there was a post-war optimism (getting rid of slum housing etc). So frick the nihilists.

They're called paragraphs. We're on a plaintext message board. I could use _emphasis_ but you'd call that 'Markdown' or something. Grow up.

you've confused paragraphs with sentences that would be demarked by a simple full stop.

How do you send emails, anon? Just one long block of text? It's pretty standard to break up paragraphs in plaintext with a blank newline.

this would be a perfectly normal way of writing something. you don't have to break up your hot takes into pseudo bulletpoints as if you're breaking down some high concept challenging problem for a panel of superiors, you're just a tard like the rest of us.

Just checked. The top income tax bracket is taxed 45%, and that only applies to each pound earned within that bracket. I don't see how it's possible for other taxes to push your tax bill to over 50% of gross income from there.

It's a sitcom. Rewatch the very first episode. It's a very absurd premise from series 1 episode 1.
