>Picks up shortly after the original, no 2 year timeskip.
>No Leto II, Alia is still in the womb but communicating with Jessica via telepathy.
>The Harkonnen abduct Jessica, but she escapes and kills the Baron.
>Gurney fights Rabban 1v1 and wins, leaves him for the Fremen to finish off.
>Paul drinks from the water of life and sees adult Alia played by Anya Taylor-Joy.
>Paul tells Chani about his visions and they initially plan to establish the Fremen as sovereigns of Arrakis.
>Paul ultimately realizes the Fremen's belief in him is too strong and the Emperor too stubborn to accept that, so he springs up the plan to marry Irulan and essentially take over the universe on everyone after he kills Feyd.
>Paul reassures Chani that he loves her and that this is the only way, but she ends the movie disappointed and wary of Paul, while Paul himself worries if he has done the right thing.

OMG DON'T SPOIL A BOOK THAT CAME OUT LIKE 50 YEARS AGO
This isn't what happens in the book
This!
This is a glaring red flag!
Representation takes presidencies above the BOOK!
I hate these people
Sorry you lost me when they said 'Crusade'.
No, not representation, or not for the descendants of the People of Misr at least.
Buccal fat removal needs to come with a mandatory prison sentence.
>Buccal fat removal
What about the (buccal and other) fat insertion that Florence Pig had done?
She just has an unfortunate physique
>unfortunate physique
Her botanique and chimie organique aren't any luckier.
Sounds like a snoozefest
>takes place after Dune 1
great leak
There is a 3 year timeskip in the book where Paul's sister and his first son are born. This is cut from the movie entirely, so Alia is still in Jessica's womb and communicates with Jessica telepathically (Denis didn't want to deal with a child actress apparently) and Leto II the Elder just isn't part of the story at all.
I hate villeneuve so much
To keep Alia unborn for the whole movie would mean the events of both movies take place in a 9 month window. That's would be a ridiculous, unnecessary and dishonest change from the book. Precisely what we've come to expect from Mr. Villeneuve.
All of this shit so Jessica can have a bigger role
The only thing id like to give Jessica is a bigger hole
look at the positive anon, she will be heavily pregnant the whole film
>she will be heavily pregnant the whole film
All covered on reverend mother clothes
Anon…I didn’t need to be this hard right now.
Perhaps I was wrong about Denis
The real protagonist of the movie is going to be Zendaya. All the posters focus more on her, while Chalagay is always somewhere beside. They added new meaningless feminist drama plotline just for her to take more spotlight as already seen in the trailers. She's also got a lot of action scenes including the final battle, which she wasn't supposed to be participating in
>The real protagonist of the movie is going to be Zendaya
Oh for sure, but Jessica is also the protagonist and leaving Muad'dib third billing
Dune was ALWAYS about the women, chud.
No. Dune was always about humanity as a whole.
No it isn't you mong!
I was hoping for a CGI talking baby
gonna pass on this
I heard they recast Chani. Is that true???
I wish
I'm so glad Villeneuve is changing everything to be worse and for morons
So leto I? Their first baby
I heard they recast Irulan. Is that true????
You wish. You get the Lego hybrid and you will like it.
What a fricking hack
Sounds like absolute wormslop, but also… spicekino.
This sounds more boring than the first Dunc
It's going to be. All that's left to be adapted from the book is the big climactic battle and the lead up to it. But since Villeneuve is seemingly cutting so much out there's only like 45min left of story to tell. Of course since this movie has to be close to 3 hours since Villeneuve wants this to be his LOTR, it's gonna have 2 hours of filler bullshit. It's going to be The Hobbit all over again
I shiver to think what villeneuve will do with Dune messiah
Of all the dune books to adapt Messiah would be the easiest, it's much shorter compared to the other books. At this point I'm just a long to see how everything looks since the first movie cut so much.
Messiah is where things start to get weird with the mutant navigators, face dancers, gholas, and dancing memory midgets. I expect Denis to cut all of this because it might be too weird for american housewives and fratbros
>Of all the dune books to adapt Messiah would be the easiest
Yeah but since its villeneuve he's going to change everything for the fricking worse.
Based midge Lynch Alia remains UNDEFEATED
Lynchchads have stayed winning since 1984.
Almost any frame from Lynch Dune is better than the best frame from Nu Dune
I agree.
Except the Ornothopter.
You mean the completely moronic insect-like design that could not, by any physical model, be expected to be capable of flight?
How do dragonflies fly then Black person?
By being incredibly lightweigh, moron, rather than being literally a huge metal box with passengers and tiny flayiling metal wings.
Ever wondered why no one has ever built such a design at this scale?
Yeah just like no one ever made a fricking Iron man suit, lightsaber, a bat shaped plane or plasma guns. It's fiction you dip.
>muh capeshit
Case in point.
>they're making them out of material that we don't have yet
They're made out of material that literally cannot exist. But nice unscientific argument you have there.
The ornithopters in nudune are almost exactly how they're described in the book. Plus they're making them out of material that we don't have yet considering the story is at minimum 10,000 years in the future. moron.
hi mellisco 🙂
Clams.
I'm not elaborating.
Read it for yourself.
It looks like I’m watching Amadeus but set in 2444
You obviously haven't seen Amadeus.
Of course they wouldn't have the balls to have Paul's first kid getting killed by the Sardaukar.
>adult Alia played by Anya Taylor-Joy
Oh no
Looks like he's keeping the mutant navigators
Is Tim Blake Nelson playing Count Fenring or a Navigator?
Fenrig.
I can't wait to see how the HBO series makes this even dumber.
It's already adapting a book written by Brian and KJA so yeah, there's no hope
>Feyd Rutha is an ugly monster man instead of a dashing young noble
>probably will cut out the subplot of Lord and Lady Fenring seducing Rutha
>probably will skip over the entire theme of royal blood being so precious to this civilization that the Bene Gesserit freak the frick out over the final duel because it would mean the end of at least one noble family
>Chani isnt Pauls devoted and obedient wife, but probably a feminist hero who has to show this little cuck b***h how to fight the war
This whole thing looks bad to me as a long time fan of the book. It actually ends with a sort of true love story between Chani and Paul that makes all the previous quotes from Princess Irulen make sense and shows that it was nothing more than a political marriage. Paul being an islamic warlord with three wives is NOT going to be in the movie, they already cucked out and removed any mention of Jihad from the first movie. Theres no way they are going to have that part where the fremen refer to their "Sunni ancestors" who first arrived on Arrakis too.
>probably will cut out the subplot of Lord and Lady Fenring seducing Rutha
Ironically this is the one thing Denis is keeping that all previous adaptations have cut, Lady Margot is being played by Lea Seydoux and in one of the trailers you can see her making out with Feyd
>more often than not a chapter starts with long winded musing from Princess Irulan
>think it's just subtle world building
>end of book Chani says, "I hear she's a scribe. Good, she'll need her books and quill to keep her company because my beloved will never touch her."
Fricking badass and this entire concept will be lost to film, tragic
The Guild Navigator in Dune 2 is also odd casting. That's her in the center.
DUNN?
Now i realize why they have to turn Feyd into a white dildo so he doesn't brutally mog Chalamet. Austin Butler is a chad
Feyd is supposed to be a turbochad. Why they chose to make him a nocturnal goblin is beyond me. You might be right about them trying not to mog Tim.
Denis' dumb fremens would be confused by 2 identical young men. A duke + na-baron. Who should they follow?
It's kind of like 40k
Paul is Horus
Baron is emperor
Freeman are farsight enclave allied we with Paul
Sadarkar are ultramarines
Emperor of dune is elder king
Leto 3 half worn man is nurgle
i know I'm in the minority here but I think Zendaya is very pretty
Florence Pew is a pig though
You realise they cast the pig so she won't mog Z
>so she won't mog Z
She still does though. Barely, but she does.
Austin is handsome no homo
>Austin is handsome
Next to Zendaya, Pig and Timofee, literally anyone would appear handsome.
Ha
Even zendaya knows she doesn’t belong in that crowd.
She does though. If anyone doesn't belong, it's that Asian girl and whatshisname on the right. Because they don't look like complete and utter shit.
"Our guests today are the stars of the new movie Dune 2. Hey girlfriends!"
"Hayyyy!"
DUNN DOS
Z looks actually pretty cute here
DUNA
That's not an A, that's another N.
Women really do ruin everything.
Florence is so hideous, she manages to make Zendaya looks good in comparison
>doesn't even mention the main character of the entire franchise
they're going to make anya the worm, arent they?
I heard a pretty strong rumour that it is going to be a shit film. Possibly shitter than the first one.
I just need to see a lot of scenes of Lea Seydoux as a Bene Gesserit, I don't care if everything else is bad.
I smelled a strong smell of shit coming from this film. Possibly shitter than the first one.
They've turned it into a feminist mouth piece.
>leaks
How can there be leaks for a movie based on a book? Just read the book for the plot points moron.
Because the only similarities it shares with the book is the name
The book isn't named "DUNC" though.
Way to rape the book
Just came home after rewatching it in theaters. These leaks sound bullshit but oddly believable.
Will they include the part where Paul watches his sister train naked and contemplates having sex with her?
No. Like everyone predicted two years ago, Villeneuve completely wrote out Alia, and will probably write out most things related to her in potential future installments (that hopefully never get made anyway).
Wrong book. The movie is adapting the other half of the first dune book. That doesn't happen until Dune Messiah
>That doesn't happen until Dune Messiah
In the book, yes. If Vileneuf gets to make his adaptation, it won't.
No wonder they didn't cast Gadon yet
Sounds fake. I don't think Villeneuve would depart from the book that much.
>I don't think Villeneuve would depart from the book that much.
Kek. Have you even seen part 1?
>Sounds fake. I don't think Villeneuve would depart from the book that much.
It is extremely plausible from the trailers and villeneuve is a hack
The frick this face supposed to convey? Zandaya sucks dude frick this movie.
It's clear from the trailer she's the wise independent feminist girlboss who knows Paul isn't the messiah and resents him for culturally appropriating the Fremen.
That's bullshit, but I believe you're right.
>this prophecy is how they enslave us!
Is a key line from the trailer.
Chani staring lovingly at Usul.
>Paul reassures Chani that he loves her and that this is the only way, but she ends the movie disappointed and wary of Paul
It's right there in the OP.
God, what an atrocious dog faced actress.
>dog faced
Please. Dogs don't look anywhere near as ugly. Not on average at least.
Zendaya about the love story:
>I think, talking about how there are some character changes and differences, something Denis really found for Chani is allowing her to have her own mind and spirit when it comes to her perception of Paul and what she thinks of him. I think what that allows for, and also what he represents to her, is something a little bit more complicated and something that she has to fight against.
The love story isn't necessarily just given; it's not something that to her even feels natural. I don't think she's ever even allowed herself to think of the concept of falling in love, and now it's being presented in the least likely person. I think there's a lot of weight to that, and just the sheer amount it would take for her to be vulnerable with somebody or open up to someone is big.
For us, it was about trying to find those moments where we could have Paul earn his way into her heart and into her space and into her family, you know what I mean? Into her world. And that's how we try to build a real love story. We had to earn it behind the camera too. And ultimately, how it ends? You will find out. We will see. But there's a lot of internal, I think, complication happening within her.
>what he represents to her, is something a little bit more complicated and something that she has to fight against.
Literally wut?
Colonialism/white supremacy
But that's literally her own father's legacy as well. Liet ... oh, wait, Villeneuve already fricked that up.
Liet believed in the prophecy didn't he?
Yeah. But more importantly he believed in cooperation and cultural exchange. He's a counterpoint to the exploitative nature of the Empire and the Baron towards the Fremen, the planet and its resources, and instead represents mutual understanding, respect and integration. He's basically the "spiritual" or "thematic" bridge between Paul (as an outsider) and the Fremen, and him falling in love with Chani, herself the product of an outsider and a Fremen, is deeply symbolic.
Of course, Villeneuve either didn't understand any of that or simply didn't care, since he sacrificed it all for no good reason for some "black female representation", while also turning the race- and gender-swapped character into a meaningless throwaway extra.
>him falling in love with Chani
*"him" meaning Paul, of course. Just to clarify, if there was any doubt.
The prophesy is real.
I will admit that Alia killing the Baron as a toddler is a bit cringey but it’s important to her character
This all sounds like shit and I’m not watching it anyway
The Irulan from spurned b***hy princess to realizing she loved Paul after he was gone plot line was kino in Messiah/Children
>realizing she loved Paul
wat
What part of that don’t you understand
Not him, but Irulan is a pig now. It's highly debatable whether pigs are able to actually feel complex emotions like love.
Why would she go from hating him for destroying her family to loving him?
>Why would she go from hating him for destroying her family to loving him?
She "hated" him but her first scene in messiah is saying how much she wants to bear his heir.
Canonically she was breed and psychologically designed to be Paul's perfect match. She exists to become pregnant by Paul so the KH can be born.
Remember this is a feminist book according to some.
I always assumed her or one of her sisters would have a female child that would marry the Kwisatz Haderach that would then become the emperor and it’s why the bene gesserit wife of Shaddam didn’t give him a male heir. It was to disconnect the throne from the Corrino family for a generation before having the line marry into the combined Atreides-Harkonnen family
This is since Paul was supposed to be a girl and was supposed to marry Feyd-Rautha which is where the BG believed the Kwisatz Haderach would be born from
u wot, m8? Paul was supposed to have been a girl and breed with Feyd to produce the KH.
And yet when Paul said he wanted to marry her she didn't argue and said she was trained for that.
Paul is of appropriate station to marry her and it’s surprising a match is never brought up before because her father mentioned if she were older he would have married her to Leto
I don’t think anything more is really implied there as
Dont the bene gesserit make a big deal of Paul NOT breeding Irulan
They seethe, if that's what you mean..
Yes but that’s after the fact where they’re trying to wrestle his bloodline and Imperial power back under them
Yes they seethe non stop at the fact that Paul refuses to breed with her
You are right I forgot. But I am pretty sure the BG course correct when they realize Paul ubbermensch desert king, its implied she had BG conditioning to service him.
Paul is FTM. Knew it.
Actually yes. He's sufficiently coded as a hermaphrodidic character that I'm honestly surprised the trans crowd haven't glomed onto him
It’s at the end of Messiah after the death of Chani. I don’t remember if she says why or anything I think she just saw him as principled and twelve or whatever years of being denied sex by him mindbroke her into an atreides wiener concubine
what attitude have women historically taken towards successful conquerors? How much would this be magnified if said conqueror was a selectively-bred superhuman without equal?
shit son, think before typing
>what attitude have women historically taken towards successful conquerors?
The supplanted royal families are liquidated.
This movie is basically a romance history for women. Remind me again the other adaptation based on a popular IP that was turned into a romance for female audiences and how that turned out.
So does it have a YA feel? The trailers make it seem so.
Is Fenring in the movie?
How exactly does the Baron die?
Is the duel between Paul and Feyd the same?
i never read the book and i dont intend to, i only saw he old movie and thought it was meh
i wont even read your blacked text
"A new life awaits you in the Off-world colonies. The chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure."
I would lose my fricking mind if this is real
Don't worry. It's going to be much worse.
Stop fricking lying you wienersucker!
My reaction to this information, as well as the imminent release of this film
>Chani is still ugly
If jessica kills her dad, she will be the abomination, possessed? The frick is denis doing
>If jessica kills her dad
Zendaya will get the killing blow. Because "muh strong female ugly lead of color".
>They cut ninja babies Alia
BOOOO
They also cut "GET OUT OF MY MINDDDDD"
Basically Villahack dropped the ball like we all knew he would. He is water-fat. He knows not the ways of the desert.
never gonna watch a movie with such horrid casting anyway
Sounds fake/intentionally shitty because it’s nothing like the book(s). My question is whether this is a real promotional pic for the movie. Ugly charisma vacuum leads
>Sounds fake/intentionally shitty
DUNC1 also sounds fake and intentionally shitty if you summarize it like that. And guess what: The film itself also looked fake and was intentionally shitty.
I wouldn’t know. I never watched it because of the weak Manlet lead, meme Khal drogo character and ugly nigress love interest
it's not al anymore
Needs to be 4 hours.
I need to see Feyd kill his sex slave harem.
I'm just coming in here to say thank you for putting it in spoilers, whether it's true or not
>spoilers
The one who spoiled things is Villeneuve by rewriting stuff needlessly. Not the anon who told you about what he (potentially) did.
I saw that Chani broad and was so confused when I didn't see any basketball and I kept wondering why they named the movie dunk if no homies be hoopin
