DUNC 2 LEAKS

>Picks up shortly after the original, no 2 year timeskip.
>No Leto II, Alia is still in the womb but communicating with Jessica via telepathy.
>The Harkonnen abduct Jessica, but she escapes and kills the Baron.
>Gurney fights Rabban 1v1 and wins, leaves him for the Fremen to finish off.
>Paul drinks from the water of life and sees adult Alia played by Anya Taylor-Joy.
>Paul tells Chani about his visions and they initially plan to establish the Fremen as sovereigns of Arrakis.
>Paul ultimately realizes the Fremen's belief in him is too strong and the Emperor too stubborn to accept that, so he springs up the plan to marry Irulan and essentially take over the universe on everyone after he kills Feyd.
>Paul reassures Chani that he loves her and that this is the only way, but she ends the movie disappointed and wary of Paul, while Paul himself worries if he has done the right thing.

        This!

This is a glaring red flag!

Representation takes presidencies above the BOOK!

        I hate these people

        >Feyd Rutha is an ugly monster man instead of a dashing young noble
        >probably will cut out the subplot of Lord and Lady Fenring seducing Rutha
        >probably will skip over the entire theme of royal blood being so precious to this civilization that the Bene Gesserit freak the frick out over the final duel because it would mean the end of at least one noble family
        >Chani isnt Pauls devoted and obedient wife, but probably a feminist hero who has to show this little cuck b***h how to fight the war
This whole thing looks bad to me as a long time fan of the book. It actually ends with a sort of true love story between Chani and Paul that makes all the previous quotes from Princess Irulen make sense and shows that it was nothing more than a political marriage. Paul being an islamic warlord with three wives is NOT going to be in the movie, they already cucked out and removed any mention of Jihad from the first movie. Theres no way they are going to have that part where the fremen refer to their "Sunni ancestors" who first arrived on Arrakis too.

Sorry you lost me when they said 'Crusade'.

No, not representation, or not for the descendants of the People of Misr at least.

Of course they wouldn't have the balls to have Paul's first kid getting killed by the Sardaukar.

There is a 3 year timeskip in the book where Paul's sister and his first son are born. This is cut from the movie entirely, so Alia is still in Jessica's womb and communicates with Jessica telepathically (Denis didn't want to deal with a child actress apparently) and Leto II the Elder just isn't part of the story at all.

To keep Alia unborn for the whole movie would mean the events of both movies take place in a 9 month window. That's would be a ridiculous, unnecessary and dishonest change from the book. Precisely what we've come to expect from Mr. Villeneuve.

        Anonymous

It's going to be. All that's left to be adapted from the book is the big climactic battle and the lead up to it. But since Villeneuve is seemingly cutting so much out there's only like 45min left of story to tell. Of course since this movie has to be close to 3 hours since Villeneuve wants this to be his LOTR, it's gonna have 2 hours of filler bullshit. It's going to be The Hobbit all over again

The real protagonist of the movie is going to be Zendaya. All the posters focus more on her, while Chalagay is always somewhere beside. They added new meaningless feminist drama plotline just for her to take more spotlight as already seen in the trailers. She's also got a lot of action scenes including the final battle, which she wasn't supposed to be participating in

    Zendaya about the love story:
    >I think, talking about how there are some character changes and differences, something Denis really found for Chani is allowing her to have her own mind and spirit when it comes to her perception of Paul and what she thinks of him. I think what that allows for, and also what he represents to her, is something a little bit more complicated and something that she has to fight against.

The love story isn't necessarily just given; it's not something that to her even feels natural. I don't think she's ever even allowed herself to think of the concept of falling in love, and now it's being presented in the least likely person. I think there's a lot of weight to that, and just the sheer amount it would take for her to be vulnerable with somebody or open up to someone is big.

For us, it was about trying to find those moments where we could have Paul earn his way into her heart and into her space and into her family, you know what I mean? Into her world. And that's how we try to build a real love story. We had to earn it behind the camera too. And ultimately, how it ends? You will find out. We will see. But there's a lot of internal, I think, complication happening within her.

Yeah. But more importantly he believed in cooperation and cultural exchange. He's a counterpoint to the exploitative nature of the Empire and the Baron towards the Fremen, the planet and its resources, and instead represents mutual understanding, respect and integration. He's basically the "spiritual" or "thematic" bridge between Paul (as an outsider) and the Fremen, and him falling in love with Chani, herself the product of an outsider and a Fremen, is deeply symbolic.
Of course, Villeneuve either didn't understand any of that or simply didn't care, since he sacrificed it all for no good reason for some "black female representation", while also turning the race- and gender-swapped character into a meaningless throwaway extra.

                >him falling in love with Chani
*"him" meaning Paul, of course. Just to clarify, if there was any doubt.

I will admit that Alia killing the Baron as a toddler is a bit cringey but it’s important to her character

Not him, but Irulan is a pig now. It's highly debatable whether pigs are able to actually feel complex emotions like love.

            >Why would she go from hating him for destroying her family to loving him?
She "hated" him but her first scene in messiah is saying how much she wants to bear his heir.

Canonically she was breed and psychologically designed to be Paul's perfect match. She exists to become pregnant by Paul so the KH can be born.

Remember this is a feminist book according to some.

I always assumed her or one of her sisters would have a female child that would marry the Kwisatz Haderach that would then become the emperor and it’s why the bene gesserit wife of Shaddam didn’t give him a male heir. It was to disconnect the throne from the Corrino family for a generation before having the line marry into the combined Atreides-Harkonnen family
This is since Paul was supposed to be a girl and was supposed to marry Feyd-Rautha which is where the BG believed the Kwisatz Haderach would be born from

u wot, m8? Paul was supposed to have been a girl and breed with Feyd to produce the KH.

And yet when Paul said he wanted to marry her she didn't argue and said she was trained for that.

Paul is of appropriate station to marry her and it’s surprising a match is never brought up before because her father mentioned if she were older he would have married her to Leto
I don’t think anything more is really implied there as

It’s at the end of Messiah after the death of Chani. I don’t remember if she says why or anything I think she just saw him as principled and twelve or whatever years of being denied sex by him mindbroke her into an atreides wiener concubine

what attitude have women historically taken towards successful conquerors? How much would this be magnified if said conqueror was a selectively-bred superhuman without equal?

This movie is basically a romance history for women. Remind me again the other adaptation based on a popular IP that was turned into a romance for female audiences and how that turned out.

So does it have a YA feel? The trailers make it seem so.
    Is Fenring in the movie?
How exactly does the Baron die?
Is the duel between Paul and Feyd the same?
