I watched the first 40 minutes or so and i dozed off once. The characters were just not interesting and i didnt care for the plot, just usual apocalypse setting with bugs. I skimmed through it after and the ending seemed really gay
I'm planning on seeing it when it re-releases here next week. Maybe if you see it in theaters it'll connect for you, I only see Ghibli in theaters now and it makes all the difference.
I love this movie but I don't blame you anon.
It's terribly slow and pretty boring. The characters are cardboard and the plot is hardly compelling.
The only reason to watch it is because the art/animation is cool, especially the bugs.
The world seems really interesting and I wish they got into the lore more.
I like the laser robot at the end too.
>I wish they got into the lore more.
It's based off a comic and was directed by the same guy who drew it, it's a very, very good series.

I did the same when I tried watching it the other day, made it about 30 mins. I'm not a big Miyazaki/Ghibli simp, but I definitely enjoyed Spirited Away and Mononeke. But Nausicaa was bland as frick, all the neat design elements were ripped off from Fantastic Planet (still looked great). But I couldn't stand the Japanese voice acting and dialogue, and there was barely a hint of plot beyond le magic hero girl
Also the upskirt shots weirded me out, fricking Japs
I tried to watch it on netflix once and the audio was horrendously badly mixed. I have been refusing to check it out since. How is any physical/torrent version of this?
it was in japanese I think. I didn't even get to any dialogue.
It's being re-released here(U.S) next week, both sub and dub. I'm going to see it there.

Digitization+differences between the type of people that make anime now vs. then.

>bug cartoon made by bug people
Hmmm
I'd take most of what the bugs make over what the israelites have been sharting out recently.
>Takahata, who was the other guy at Studio Ghibli, was a card-carrying Japanese communist.
Yikes, no wonder Hollywood suspiciously bows to Ghibli. I've never seen their films. Will continue to not see them. Ty. [...]
Roger Waters isn't a Communist. In fact, modern Bolsheviks seethe and want his skull.
Much like Roger Waters Miyazaki is deeply controversial in Japan due to his pacifist and anti-war/anti-American tendencies(seriously, listen to some of the stuff the dude said during the Iraq/Afghanistan Wars). He doesn't support globohomosexual however and has a soft spot for Russia, and he's a lot like Waters in that regard. Only reason people in the West don't want his head is that:
1. He's a Jap
2. He's nowhere near as outspoken as Waters
It's also convenient that they're of the same generation of people who were young children during the war and had the war very deeply impact the art they made as a result. >Will continue to not see them
You're missing out.
Japan was ultra giga rich in the 80s, everything collapsed in the 90s, they have been living on life support, and all anime since sailor moon only exist to sell merch in the most cost effective META way.
The quiet, contemplating tone is haunting in this; especially with the still very modern themes of war and environmental destruction.
If you want a Ghibli film to show you big explosions; you're barking up the wrong tree. Miyazaki despises war, so that's the big take away from this one. The setting is a very thinly veiled Nazis awkwardly occupying a country, as a consequence of fighting a seperate country. It's really depressing if you're expecting a happy ending like Spirited Away, but the lesson of the war continuing, there not being bad guys or good guys, and just trying to make the world better in what ways you can are much more important lessons; especially in a post MCU world.
I think in many ways it's more relevant than ever due to it's themes and story. In many ways it sort of reminds me of The Wall(1982) in that respect.
Also, the soundtrack is amazing for the time.

Miyazaki is literally the Jap Roger Waters, he's very far-left and often extremely critical of the Japanese right.

I don't care about Miyazaki's personal life, I've interacted with enough Japs to know their obsession with war and nukes it mostly them seething about being humbled by the burgers

I'm just saying that none of the Ghibli guys are of the Imperial Japan apologists/denialist types seething about losing WWII, they're literally communists from the Japanese new left. Takahata, who was the other guy at Studio Ghibli, was a card-carrying Japanese communist.

Indeed.

It's a parody of a random French village with nazis. The giant warriors are just an allegory for industrial war in general. And if those nips are afraid of nukes coincidentally then good; they are working as intended.

That's realistic. Trying shooting a trained samurai, he'll deflect the bullet easily. The only chance you have at winning is if you're using a full-auto firearm.

True Ghibli Kino is The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.
For me, it's Castle in the Sky
It's a tragedy that all their best and most influential movies aren't known at all here. Europe and Asia love those movies to death for very good reason.
I hate it but it's true, have a (you).
During my ghili bing, this was the only movie i dropped out of the 15. My favorite was spirited away, mononoke, and porco rosso
Did you miss it or just not like it?

oh shit thanks anon
Have fun, the series is much better than the movie. Nothing about it has aged a day despite being over 40 years old.
>I like the laser robot at the end too.
The laser robot was animated by the master himself, one of his first jobs in the industry.
You fell asleep during some awesome shit. Nausicaa is the only one that feels like it’s for adults.
Coincidentally it's the only one that technically isn't a Studio Ghibli movie
The whole ecosystem diversity of living organisms is the point. Chars are just guides to move your eyes around
that's a shame, since it's the second best ghibli behind mononoke
best ghibli film
filtered moron

Yep. Problem?
none, you just got filtered
It's being re-released here(U.S) next week, both sub and dub. I'm going to see it there.
I agree that a frowning woman's face should have been superimposed over her any time she was shown from behind, it feels creepy otherwise
Mononoke is most boring miyazake shit
Why do you have the Jap version of the Warriors Of The Wind poster
I remember this poster from back in the day. Princess Zandra was so hot.
that is a sweet poster
It gels surprisingly well with the pulp sci-fi/fantasy influence of the movie
>Warriors Of The Wind
>Princess Zandra
Are there any oldgays here who watched this in the 80s with the Manson dub?
god I hate burgers so much
Why are anime and manga so gay now? what happened to all the cool shit?
>now
Zoom on mr zoomaro!
Hey, give us credit for getting into the actually good anime.
Anime was better when it was made by Japanese artgays instead of coomers/morons.
This.
I miss the heterosexual chud animus from the 80s.

the manga is better on the whole

There's a lot of corny anti-war stuff from the Cold War that's aged like shit. Nausicaa is a lot more cerebral and aesthetically ambitious.
it's just nips crying becuase they got nuked and lost a war, they don't give a frick about the environment lol it's a pride thing

the frick?
Sorry, here you go
Holy kino
>old frick with a katana kills a dozen soldiers with machine guns and power armor
I hate anime
Incredibly israeli
That's the best swordsman in the world homosexual, and they're just wearing knight armor
And they were glorified conscripts.
That's realistic. Trying shooting a trained samurai, he'll deflect the bullet easily. The only chance you have at winning is if you're using a full-auto firearm.
Princess Kaguya is easily the best ghibli movie
LOTR but not genocidal
She was a false messiah in the manga
She doesn't wear pants for the entire film.
She does, but they are skin-colored, which is stupid design-wise
The film is more entertaining if you believe she's bottomless throughout.
Is she the original Aqua in that respect?
this manga was my first introduction to 2d boobs
i remember reading it during summer in elementary school and trying to hide it from my mom
Anime can't be k-
Sequel when?
Shin Nausicaa when?
Come on you lazy hacks.
Personally, I wish he'd make picrel as a movie but with the same aesthetic/80s style as Nausicaa.
I tried to watch it on netflix once and the audio was horrendously badly mixed. I have been refusing to check it out since. How is any physical/torrent version of this?

Lupin III - Castle of Cagliostro
I tried to read the manga but it was boring.
Thoughts on the kino?
Real and true. Today OP was not a homosexual.
Alright I'll watch it tonight
