    Paul and Chani.

Paul and Chani should've been Chalamadingdong (he's a perfect Paul) and Sophia Lillis (fits book description to the letter and the wifely nature of Chani's character)

Well, if that movie were to exist, then I wouldn't enjoy it any more than the version that currently exists. Thanks for replying to me with your opinion. Hopefully you can make your version one day with AI.

        >he's a perfect Paul
He's totally unbelievable in the part. He has no gravitas. The scenes where he was supposed to be intimidating to the Fremens were cringe worthy because of this.

He has the looks and his acting ability is good, the direction and the script changes were shit. Denis probably didn't even film the final scenes more than once and just let Timothee do whatever than guide his performance to have that gravitas. An actor should be a director's tool.

            >acting ability
What acting abilities? I think people confuse his unique look and, for lack of a better word, energy with talent.

Nah, he's right. Paul was a twink. This was the role that Chalamet was born to play.

I don't care about how the character is in the book, because what works on paper doesn't necessarily work on screen. Chalamet is not believable in the role. Could be Denis fault, or they've could've done better casting.

              >What acting abilities?

Timothee is a good actor, but I don't think he's the "perfect Paul" like some other guy said. After seeing Part 2, it seems Paul is meant to be a leader of men, like a Hitler, and Hitler was a middle aged man. Nobody will follow a kid, and they only do because he's like Superman.
I bet you haven't even seen something like Call Me By Your Name, and you're trying to shit on the actor.

I've not seen the homosexual movie, but I've seen a couple of other movies with him, and have never been convinced or taken by any of his performances. I stand by my opinion.

                >they only do because he's like Superman.
And that's the problem, because it is what the story says is supposed to happen, so that's what happens, even if it doesn't make sense for the viewer.

While I agree that Kyle's Paul is better and that Paul being a young adult then a teenager does work better on film, I'm going strictly on a 100 percent book-accurate baseline with casting it. Out of all the DUNC castings, only Timothee, Rebecca and Butler are any good. It's a shame they made him into a boring bald brute and not the charming prince with dark hair which Butler could pull off, as seen here.

            >Paul was a twink

If that's true, then the writer is probably a homosexual. My version would have an adult Paul, and if the story takes place over a long period of time, then I'll make it so that spice slows your ageing.

These books are not very good and the worst part about the adaptations is they treat the events of the book as the immutable when there's so much stupid shit going on.

why does he make Cinemaphile seethe so much?

Because he's shit and a hack. He has no more control over his movie than some capeshit slave director. Dune should've been in the hands of a Jackson-like visionary, not some fricking European joke of a director who has no unique style or vision and looks like a coward who lets studios bend him over backwards.

is it just me or did elvis overact the shit out of his role at certain parts? it seemed like he was really trying too hard

chani was the worst part of the movie, and shit on the book. most of her role should have been done by paul

      >Chani was the worst part of the movie
      >It ends on her face

      This was really weird.
People I saw it with actually thought the point was that he was losing his way and will get back together with her in the sequel. Completely missing that he was just initiating the Jihad he'd been afraid of the whole movie and had become space mohammed. They saw it as a love triangle when in the book Paul already had an extra concubine and Chani was fine with that (because they're pretty much Jihadis lol).

Really fricking weird to make them feminists.

honestly have no idea how they could pick up messiah with the current scenario of:

    >How do you adapt Frank Herbert's Dune faithfully
I don't. Film can't capture the narrative of books because they're different mediums. The best you can ever hope for is a extremely well done fan fiction. Watchmen tried to be a panel for shot adaptation and missed the mark.
DUNC isn't Dune, but if you want Dune just read the fricking books.

I use Lynch as a storyboard and just tweak the stuff that one got wrong. Do a theatrical cut for shitbag normies that cuts out the nuance for a reasonable run time and a 4 hour directors cut for home video that includes all the good shit like the dinner scene, Gurney flipping the frick out on Jessica and Thufir being a bro.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. I would mostly just get rid of the sound guns the rain at the end. The navigator scene at the beginning absolutely needs to remain, even if it's not in the book. It is important for the emperor and the guild to have some presence. The book seriously erred in that regard, I think.

I but the rights to DUNc and use AI to replace Zendaya with her hot Fremen friend, and reshoot scenes with Kynes with Gary Oldman. I also put some of the stuff Villeneuve shot but is autistically insisting on never releasing, like the dinner scene, back into the cut.
It's a pretty much perfect movie adaptation otherwise, I'm not wasting years of my life on an extremely demanding and stressful job to shoot the book scene for scene as I have imagined it when reading. I can simply pick up the book anytime I want and imagine that shit again.

But you do have a point. I would also use Hollywood accounting to funnel $500M out of the unlimited budget into a shell company, and use that to shoot a 9 hours long Reconquista historical epic

Ok. The movie opens with Paul on Caladan, sleeping in his bed. He has a 9-hour-long dream about the Reconquista that happened in the ancient history of the Old Earth. I direct that part.
I outsource the rest of the movie to Seth Rogen.
                Happy now?

Not really sure how you do "better" than what Villenuve did
You could make it longer but I still feel like most of what is actually "filmable" has already been done and if you add more stuff from the book it's just gonna become too convicted for a general audience
I would just get rid of the minimalism and have Paul do the gom jabbar in the Baron

I already have the TV mini series as a faithful adaption.
I don't mind Dunc going its own way.
