my shitty run-down public high school had all of this shit minus the giant stadium. It was just a big bleacher section that also doubled as storage for sports equipment underneath
my school was a public school and we had a sort of big cafeteria because we had like 2500 people. football field was nice but not a stadium but we did have a cool auto shop in the back.
basically used to just take apart engines and stuff and sometimes light trash on fire with gasoline. also there was a ride on lawn mower back there we got started and the gear shift was all fricked up, so you had to yank it really hard and it would jump from 6th gear to 1st and you couldn't get it in bewteen, it used to pop sick wheelies. I'm surprised nobody got crushed by it and severely injured
we also had junk cars back there that we used to take the parking brake off and push and make them crash into each other at 10mph
This isn't the high school, it's the youth center around the corner.
That's why all the dance competitions and marital arts tournaments are there also.
the showrunners made him wear frumpy, baggy clothes because when they made him wear casual nerd attire he looked way too muscular for his character, who was supposed to be a nerd
It's not at the school.
It's a hangout.
One that didn't really exist in the 90s.
The creators of that show grew up in the 50s and 60s.
The "juice bar" is a stand-in for soda shops they grew up with.
They aren't real 90s things.
The closest thing we had were shopping malls with food courts and arcades.
This is a small town in middle America. Everything is spread out in separate buildings. They probably have a mall but it's a shitty small one with few stores.
There were many hang-out spots like this across America in the 90s. It's not fiction.

>american high school
>big cafeteria

I graduated 3 years ago and I had all of that. Literally just be middle class or above.
Bullshit, I went to high school in the 90's and most high schools had already phased out mechanic shop

That was unironically my high school. It's a public school as well.

Large schools will have large cafeterias

see also "The Maxx" from SBTB, the "Peach Pit" from BH90210, etc.
real teenagers of the era pretty much hung out at malls, not "juke joints". you only really saw jukeboxes in adult bars by then.
I thought they must have places like The Max where teens in California go after school b/c I grew up in the sticks pre-internet
They did have such places. Usual
