Nothing else gets treated in this moronic way, like you don't tell a schizo the voices are totally real and valid and encourage them to listen to them more. Or a depressed person that those feelings reflect their true self and that they are in fact worthless. The same as no other person suffering from similar delusions like believing they are another race, an actual animal, an alien, reincarnation of famous person etc. in the wrong body gets accommodated by pretending along with them like that will somehow help them and improve their condition.
