I read some excerpts of that book when it was released.
It's ideologically motivated historical revisionism. It will spend several pages proclaiming as fact that drag shows were transgressive gender acts and then in passing quote a short paragraph from a primary source that is irrelevant/tangentially related. It asserts what history is, it rarely cites. You can see it as an effort to launder history as other gender theorist 'scholars' will then cite this book to make even stronger claims about historical queerness and hope no one bothers to check the originally sources.
Don't forget that 'Queerness' is just capricious contrarianism. It is so all encompassing everything could count as it. It revises history to make historical people obsessed with their gender identity. Gender identity is a recent fad.
