Gosling would have been a better Star Lord, particularly if they had ever some Annihilation. Could have been Captain America maybe. I could see him as Norman Osborn maybe, or he'd have been a good Kang, but MCU likes to use A listers as one-and-done villains, see Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Michael B Jordan.

Based on the actual interview, it's a combination of not wanting the commitment of being in a franchise, and not wanting to deal with complicated superhero costuming and CGI action scenes, the latter because she had a hell of a time on Edge of Tomorrow. So she'd probably be fine coming in as a one-off normie character.
