Emma Stone is a feminist Frankenstein in Yorgos Lanthimos POOR THINGS

>In 1899, Victoria Blessington (Emma Stone) commits suicide to escape her abusive husband Sir Aubrey Blessington (Christopher Abbott), and is later brought back to life by brilliant but eccentric scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe) and his assistant Max McCandless (Rami Youssef) as Bella Baxter. Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn, but soon grows restless in her confined existence. Wanting to see more of the world, she runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), Baxter’s slick and debauched lawyer, and travels across continents in search of equality and liberation, while being pursued by both Baxter and Blessington.

I hope that it isn’t a weird mess. You need to take just the right amount of drugs to make something great, take too much and it starts getting way too weird.

I like his movie. This one seems like it has some Luc Besson inspiration going on.

Ruffalo is enough of a C-list shitter to put me off the rest of the movie, despite Dafoe and Stone.
Of course, the premise is quite another thing entirely.

Ruffalo can't really act for shit, he brings the same passive aggressive energy in every role

Isn't it amazing how *every* story about any given time period just happens to focus on the tiny(or completely fictional) minority of characters who *just happen* to share all their points of view with Current Year idpol libshits.

Heaven forfend historical dramas give us a window into what is fundamentally a foreign culture, who needs silly nonsense like an appreciation of how far we've come or an understanding of what led us to where we are, much better to just pretend morality has always been a perfect match for the milieu of a modern university campus to spare everyone's fee fees.

I know right. Women made less than 5% of population in 1899

I feel there’s something perverse in Gyorgos Lanthimos’ movies as well as every male feminist who is morbidly fixated on women’s issues. It just feels like a clever kind of fetishism

It’s camouflage. The more vocal the “male feminist”, the more likely he’s trying to cover up the fact that he’s a sex predator.
