That did happen, don't remember specifics on it. The cops were negligent but the show leans far into "cops hated gays if only they'd listened to black people". In reality while it was weird circumstances they had no good reason to search the place and couldn't have arrested Dahmer anyway unless they had some proof his "boyfriend" was under age.
I do remember (from the interview) the cop came in and looked for the keys, found the pictures, but Dahmer and the other cop weren't in the room with him. He called out "Grab Dahmer!" when he realized the pictures of bodies were taken in the same room he was standing in. He was also the same cop who searched the fridge and apparently screamed like a little girl and hit the far wall when he found the head.
They also don't show the skull drilling and acid water pouring and a lot of other things Dahmer did. It's generally accurate in the broadstrokes but they certainly aren't going so far as to offend the viewership of winedrunk 30 something "true crime" junky women. It shies away from showing a whole lot of the most gruesome aspects of his crimes. I"m only on episode 4 tthough.

It shows Dahmers caved in head its pretty graphic. Also shows Geins victim. I would say overall though the show isnt too gory I would agree. It mostly leans into implied shit, which i felt was still pretty potent.

Been using this with my wife wherever possible since watching the series.
The only parts of the show that really lost me were Jesse Jackson being portrayed as a good guy instead of a grifter and the drawn out pity party for Dahmer’s victims’ families (and neighbor). The later wasn’t really bad, it was just uninteresting. Jackson’s portrayal had me afraid of how the prison homie would be written, but I was glad they let him be a savage nutcase.
They explain that in the show. As long as you leave the stem and vital areas, most of the brain is actually useless tissue and muscle.

His victims probably wouldn't live very long if left like that though, or at least it would be a severely reduced quality of life. The story of Jeffrey Dahmer is about an isolated, lonely, nasty pervert who kills dudes and jerks off all over the place while he's eating parts of their bodies in front of his weird skeleton shrine.
The police angle is interesting, but overemphasized. Dahmer's been a news story for decades because it's pretty fricking unusual for a guy to do what he did, so I'm not surprised that the cops weren't necessarily on to him. It's not like they had bodies or any evidence that men were being killed. At any rate, the series takes it way too far, not only having the cops accurately portrayed accepting the story that Dahmer and the Laotian kid were a gay couple, but doing shit like showing white cops make racist, abusive phone calls to the dead kid's dad, just in case anybody might've missed the point that white cops are evil.

It's always strange to me how pretty much all Dahmer media treats him getting caught as like, this guy managing to escape heroically and bringing his world crashing down, when Jeff was totally fricked and already at the bottom of a spiral with no way out. He lost his job, and he was getting evicted, so he's just about completely broke, days away from getting kicked out of his apartment which is absolutely packed with all this obviously murder-related shit. No way was his dad going to come pick up a bunch of skeletons, boxes of miscellaneous bones, big canister with torsos in it, all this frozen human meat, organs, heads, genitals. Way too much stuff for him to carry, no way to dispose of it, no one to help him, no place to put it, and basically no time left. The party was over.
And he was ready for it to end. He was like an addict at rock bottom, completely out of ways to come up with money to score, exhausted and ready for it to just be over with.

This, episodes 1-6 are God tier. 6 was the perfect way to honor a victim while still keeping Dahmer's mentality a major focus and having good creepy stuff. I also thought all the deaf stuff was really well done.

Episode 8 has the most kino Dahmer-dad stuff so it's great, they were both amazing in their roles.

I've been enjoying it. One thing that pisses me off about these historical shows is that when I feel interested about some event or person I go on wikipedia and try to read about the details. With shows like this, mega devoted fanboys or fricking studio shills edit the entries to match the plot of the show, down to word for word citations of the conversation I just fricking watched. The Tudors and the entry on Henry VIII is another egregious example of this. Any good sources for comprehensive writings on Dahmer's crimes that were published prior to 2022?

I haven't found any indication that they had a real romance and that it happened in any way it was portrayed in the show, other than the fact that the victim was deaf and wanted to be a model. Wikipedia just says that Dahmer lured him in with photoshoot.
Dunno if true, but I did read in an article that it seems the deaf guy knew Dahmer for about 2 weeks because he told his mom he was going to meet a friend he'd been seeing the day he died, and he may have been "working" for Dahmer. Meaning he might have survived a session or two of photography, and if he really saw Dahmer more than once it's reasonable to believe Dahmer liked him and managed to restrain his urges for a whole 2 weeks. Or maybe just because he was eager to do more modeling and Dahmer believed he would actually come back.

Dahmer's killings entirely corroborated by his psychiatric evalution were motivated by a particular morphology which he was attracted to, similar to that of his own.
The fact that he mostly killed minorities was because he lived in an area with them, note that he first killed whites when he was living at home, and only moved onto ethnic minorities once he moved to his Grandma's house near the area which he hung out.
The issue with race comes from the fact that the police are useless in America, they probably had to deal with missing blacks constantly and either didn't have the resources or the care to investigate further.

Kind of reveals its biases when a show about humanizing Dahmer into a more sympathetic character pins all of the blame on a few cops, going as far as to make them overtly racist/homophobic without giving them the benefit of historical context (that is given to Dahmer). The racial themes are the weakest element of the series. Jesse Jackson rolling in like a gift from God tells me everything I need to know about the writers.

It actually completely pulls punches. If you've ever watched a full doc or done reading on Dahmer the show doesn't even begin to put it together. Even the scene where the cops arrest him and search his house was toned down.

That did happen, don't remember specifics on it. The cops were negligent but the show leans far into "cops hated gays if only they'd listened to black people". In reality while it was weird circumstances they had no good reason to search the place and couldn't have arrested Dahmer anyway unless they had some proof his "boyfriend" was under age.
I do remember (from the interview) the cop came in and looked for the keys, found the pictures, but Dahmer and the other cop weren't in the room with him. He called out "Grab Dahmer!" when he realized the pictures of bodies were taken in the same room he was standing in. He was also the same cop who searched the fridge and apparently screamed like a little girl and hit the far wall when he found the head.
They also don't show the skull drilling and acid water pouring and a lot of other things Dahmer did. It's generally accurate in the broadstrokes but they certainly aren't going so far as to offend the viewership of winedrunk 30 something "true crime" junky women. It shies away from showing a whole lot of the most gruesome aspects of his crimes. I"m only on episode 4 tthough.

The police angle is interesting, but overemphasized. Worst scene was the fake story about the white kids being immediately believed by police and the black girl getting arrested with no evidence on their word. Literally rolled my eyes. Same with that judge scene.
This, episodes 1-6 are God tier. 6 was the perfect way to honor a victim while still keeping Dahmer's mentality a major focus and having good creepy stuff. I also thought all the deaf stuff was really well done.
Episode 7 is boring, just focused on racial politics and barely even has Dahmer in it. Lots of titty in this one though.

The character in the Netflix show is modelled on a different neighbour with elements of Pamela Bass (who you're talking about from the Dahmer Files) strewn in to the fictional Netflix character. With shows like this, mega devoted fanboys or fricking studio shills edit the entries to match the plot of the show, down to word for word citations of the conversation I just fricking watched. The Tudors and the entry on Henry VIII is another egregious example of this. Any good sources for comprehensive writings on Dahmer's crimes that were published prior to 2022?

Dunno if true, but I did read in an article that it seems the deaf guy knew Dahmer for about 2 weeks because he told his mom he was going to meet a friend he'd been seeing the day he died, and he may have been "working" for Dahmer. Meaning he might have survived a session or two of photography, and if he really saw Dahmer more than once it's reasonable to believe Dahmer liked him and managed to restrain his urges for a whole 2 weeks. Or maybe just because he was eager to do more modeling and Dahmer believed he would actually come back.

Dahmer's killings entirely corroborated by his psychiatric evalution were motivated by a particular morphology which he was attracted to, similar to that of his own.
The fact that he mostly killed minorities was because he lived in an area with them, note that he first killed whites when he was living at home, and only moved onto ethnic minorities once he moved to his Grandma's house near the area which he hung out.
The issue with race comes from the fact that the police are useless in America, they probably had to deal with missing blacks constantly and either didn't have the resources or the care to investigate further.
The whole thing with his neighbour was played up too much to show the police as willing participants in the whole thing.
She wasn't the one who found the young boy he was with and the police would have never ignored an active crime scene, she could have quite easily lied and said that she saw it, or the landlord could have entered the premises on the purpose of inspection, which makes me think that nobody really took the smell issue that seriously until after the fact.
Tl;dr Dahmer liked the guys because they looked similar to him and American police are fricking useless and the show pulls at emotional strings for brownie points, placing the time period in a modern context.
