But didn't Starlight b***hed for half a season that she forced to be close to Homelander and that The Boys need to find a way to deal with him? b***hed to Hughie. So she wanted what exactly?

      Anonymous

I think she was supposed to be portrayed as b***hy? Everyone in the whole show is a c**t is kind of the point. Or the writers heads are so far up their asses that starlight telling hughie that nobody cares when a man climbs the ladder so why shouldn't I take this promotion that will undoubtedly anger the guy I know is an indestructible psychopathic murderer looking for a reason to throw me into the sun is empowering dialogue

Starlight comes off as a completely psychopath. Homelander's threatening to kill millions of people and she's going around unironically whining about the class ceiling. I think the writers are so utterly morally confused that if the show wasn't satire, and thus has the "it's just a joke bro!" response chambered at all times, we'd see that they are legitimately just insane and moronic.

i think the problem is they're prioritizing themes and messages over story and the characters, and it's impeding their writing, to the point it feels contrived and confusing.

Hughie/Butcher at least have a plan and clear motivations
          >They want to stop Homelander
          >They need Soldier Boy to do it
          >They feel good being able to "level the field" and "be the hero" after feeling powerless before

MM? Beating up his wife's new husband and trying to get himself killed against Soldier Boy.
Starlight? Pushing Homelander further and further with no plan to stop him.
Frenchie? Let's just run away Mon Coeur.
Kimiko? I want to be human. No wait I want my powers back. Let's watch Gene Kelly movies.

And don't give the writers any credit by assuming this is intentional. Hughie/Butcher are the villains in their minds and the Affirmative Action Alliance are the heroes.

            Anonymous

My favourite part of Starlight's response to Hughie is how big of a deal the show makes out of Butcher's dad being an abusive piece of shit, while at the same time giving Starlight the exact same abusive personality traits as Butcher's dad; Hughie is always wrong, nothing he enjoys is good, no matter what he tries to to do help her even when it's literally what she asks him to do it's still evil and bad and he's being selfish for doing it, etc. Shit, she even physically abuses him.
I doubt they're doing it intentionally too, considering they also made her murder an innocent man earlier and had nobody mention it again, like they've now in retrospect realized that it made her... you know... obviously a horrible, evil person... but they didn't realize it at the time, and it wasn't their intention to do so, so they're pretending it never happened. Just like how they'll pretend all the evil shit she continues to do is not evil at all. Because I personally think the writers themselves are evil people, which is why they can't tell that they're presenting their "good" characters as evil.

It's like that "New Guy" comic, from a year or so back, where the author clearly intends to present the "New Guy" in a bad light, but actually just ended up coming off as terrible themselves. Except here, instead of presenting real life situations in comic form, they're presenting their own personal fantasies in tv show form. They're not showing us how they think other people would behave in these situations. They're showing us how they themselves would. And they're implying that so would everyone else, not realizing that they're just projecting super hard.

            >Hughie/Butcher at least have a plan and clear motivations
I really hated that everyone else always demanded a different plan, but never presented one until they had already parted ways.

Hughie injects himself with poison to:
    >Save his friend from getting shot in Russia
    >Save his girlfriend from getting blown up by Soldier Boy
    >Stop Homelander before he turns against humanity
And yet he's selfish for saying for it felt good to save Starlight for once after she saved him multiple times.
Funny how MM, Frenchie, Kimiko, and Starlight are quick to turn on Hughie/Butcher when they are only alive because they injected themselves with Temp V.

I honestly feel like the authors are winging it just to cater to the Twitter mob. Her writers are shit.
They forgot about Robin in, like 3 episodes, only to go back to that well whenever it's convenient.
They forget about characters actions and growth constantly, they forgot about the bald Psychic Psycho from season 2.
The script for this show is a mess of plot holes, nonsensical character development and thematic chaos.
If it wasn't for special effects and gore, it's be watched by literal morons exclusively.

this seems to be endemic in a lot of stuff coming out of Hollywood lately. i see it in kurtzman trek, lucasfilm, the mcu etc. there doesn't seem to be any forethought or planning put into these shows. each successive episode is written as if the writers completely forgot what they wrote in previous episodes, except for a broad outline. so by the time the season ends, the actual plot and character arcs end up being incomprehensible.

The problem with this explanation isn't the politics themselves, but how he clearly views Starlight not as a character, but as a soapbox for his personal views, which is painfully obvious when you watch the show, too.
It's just amateurish, he should thank God for some of the actors (Starr in particular) and special effects team, that carry his shitty writing.

The worst character assassination so far is mother's milk. I used to like him because he was a lot more calmer and empathetic than everyone else. Having him going unga bunga monkey rage on his ex-wife's husband because he can't figure out if he hates soldier boy or homelander more is just crap writing.

Damn, I thought something was off with Hughie's plotline. Hughie went through what women have been complaining about for years, always being a damsel in distress. Not just with Starlight, but with the boys to. And yet his position was presented without an ounce of sympathy.

  17. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

The problem is that they wrote homelander as a psycho nuclear bomb on a hair trigger. Hughie and Butchers actions inherently feel more justified because of the crazy huge threat HL is - but they want to write Butcher and Hughies actions as being selfishly motivated and an outcome of their own issues. If HL was just an evil guy who occasionally murdered one or two people for his own gain then SLs attitude about how things are going would work

      Anonymous

A few episodes ago she knew Homelander feeling loved by the masses was the only thing stopping him from destroying humanity.
So now of course she's posting videos "exposing him" to push him closer to destroying humanity with no plan to stop him.

        Anonymous

I feel like the writers were trying to portray that as her calling his bluff. What's weird is that no one is questions how she's going nuclear on the nuclear threat, or why homelands doesn't ever reiterate threat.

I don't like the writing in this series.
The original comic was made by a guy that hates super heroes, and it shows. The writing is dark and heroes have no redeeming virtues. Even the protagonists are massive buttholes.
In the show, they kept the gritty bits but fell back to a more "Marvelian" approach in character writing: protagonists are justified and virtuous, some of the heroes have redeeming qualities, some of them are even "good guys".
I don't like it. They basically made The Boyz a capeshit flick with adult themes and violence to make it look dark, when the whole point of the comic was to shit on the genre.

I think you're just wrong about the original comic.

nasolabial folds. No way to avoid it really other than washing and moisturizing/avoiding sodium/drinking water. Even then it's just what happens to most faces naturally. Just chill out and do what you can to control aging but don't let it control you.

You can somewhat prevent nasolabial folds by not tucking your head too hard onto the pillow while sleeping on the stomach or on the side. Preferably, just sleep on the back, with your face facing up.

No, it isn't, and you are a joke if you believe it. Men are providers and protectors, while women are caretakers, these identity politics and blurring of the lines of sexes need to go. But looking at the US, that doesn't seem like it will take a long time.
