Shame they retconned them into the movie versions in the comics. I thought Marvel stopped that but I guess Eternals is so obscure they figured they may as well. The new celestial lore is so mundane and boring compared to Kirby's

There was a lot of weird casting in that movie. Hayek was entirely wasted, why couldn't she get to be mommy Ajak

For all the lip service given to Kirby this is the one property that nobody seems to like doing. Even Gamien phoned it in and just made it another of his "Look at at us! Were so powerful but shhhh don't let the humies know about us! Teee-hee-hee!" stuff. It's 70's Kirby at his most insane and his most genius and nobody every wants to embrace it and instead they always seem to want to downshift them into Thanos's extended family.

Putting Eternals on 616 Earth where the actual gods also exist kill their entire gimmick. They're supposed to be the source of all myth and legend, but on 616 they're just a bunch of myth posers and that really removes their potential. The original series is also not terribly interesting when the Celestials aren't in focus as I think Kirby just didn't have another full set of weird more-than-human people in him that soon after Fourth World and all the other titles he cranked out for DC. Ikaris and makkari are just kinda duller rehashes of Orion and Lightray (with some Fastbak thrown in). Thena is a discount Big Barda, complete with a romancing the enemy plot. I do think he was cooking with Sersi though and it's absolutely criminal she was butchered in the movie and Gillen's run into an unrecognizable mess.

I know, let's make a movie where they all wear forgettable mcu wear and half of them die and the main one is evil and dies too.

Let's also implement that into the comics and make all the characters unrecognizable. Like turning Makkari from a blond white guy into a mute black girl.

Making Thanos and the Titans redneck cousins didn't help either.

How was it like Krakoa? They didn't go all hedonistic. The resurrection thing was introduced by Gaiman 15 years earlier.

Sersi is the only good thing about the entire Eternals franchise unless you're a cuckgay who's into Thena fricking kro and having mutant babies with him when Ikaris is right there moaning after her

Yeah. She's the brunette in the OP image. She was on the team during Cosmic Storm and the whole Leather Jacket era and was kind of a big deal for one of the major stories.

Their versatile power set is honestly pretty great for a superhuman race with different specializations and power levels that are acquired via training. Marvel mutants should had been something similar to the Eternals but with only 1 Eternal power unlocked upon the activation of their X-gene and other Eternal-like power set are potentially unlocked via training and acquisition of knowledge on how the specific power works.
