      No
      But Gundam was

Nope. Try zambot 3, ideon or gundam. Eva is just more of the same.

Overrated entry level shit that keeps being paraded around as a "deconstruction" by morons like you despite hardly watching anything else from the genre before? Absolutely.

      >NOOOOOOOO DONT SAY THIS SHOW DECONSTRUCTED MY FAVORITE SHITTY 80S CARTOON THAT HURTS MY FEELINGS
kek i see this board can never stop with the cognitive dissonance any time someone posts eva.

Something that revitalized the genre and medium and not only inspired millions but also changed the market? No I don't think Watchmen was as important to comics as Eva was to anime.

      >revitalized
Yeah 1995 was a real slow year for mecha shows alright

I dunno, I think Anno's been much less of a public moron over Eva's success than Moore has been over Watchmen's
      >
      >revitalized the genre
Nah, not really. The opposite if anything, it was the first major commercial juggernaut for waifu chara goods, which have since proved to be a much more profitable way of making money than robot toys (unless the robot has the word 'Gundam' on it, that particular name seems to be immune to whatever it is that have caused robot animes to fall out of fashion)

Creative control. Whereas Anno regained control of his creation thanks to Khara, Moore gets jack shit from WB's ceaseless exploitation.

Even ignoring all the subsequent TV stuff and the gay ass sequel comics, any time Moore talks about the original he just seethes about people not liking it the 'right way' and is endlessly bitter that his big critique of Big Two cap comics actually just ended up being a gateway into them for so many people. Meanwhile, Anno does interviews and he just gets all nostalgic and then pockets the royalties to fuel his tokusatsu habit

He's been doing nothing but condemning people for still liking the series and mecha in general over the past 20 years thinking it's going to make them "grow up" like he did.

He has an awful way of showing it, what's with writing and directing four movie adaptations of the series.

There's an interview from around when Cutie Honey released where Anno says that he regrets putting too much entertainment into NGE because people used it for escapism and that EoE was meant to be a "rude awakening", which is not only stupid as is but made worse given how he's a massive moronic manchild obsessed with his own favorites.

He made an interview in 1986 where he killed someone behind a dennys. I saw it happen but he said he'd get me too if I went to the cops.
