The movie's entire aesthetic is trying to cash in on Seth Rogen's youthful's love for gross-out humor and sick things. Problem is that while boys were indeed into stuff like that back in the 80s-90s, it's not the case anymore.
Haha so if the anesthetic is gross out design, then that means the character designers knew black april is disgusting get shit on Black folk
Paramount is pulling out all the stops. They saw all the other flop movies that blamed advertising and critics and lack of hype and burned a ton of money to make this look like the most hyped, most visible, most anticipated, best reviewed movie of the year. Don't listen to the gays pretending like being different means it's exciting. It isn't. They gutted the TMNT as an IP and replaced it with high school and things that middle aged Hollywood israelites think zoomers are into. Literally every iteration and reboot of TMNT has tried to do something distinctly different from it's predecessors and all of those paid off way better than what this movie jerks itself off for trying and failing to do.
>Garbage Pail Kids
Scumbug is literally an original series figure you fricking newbies shut the frick already jesus fricking christ. This movie is a loveletter to the original TMNT toyline holy frick. Look at the poster and then look at the original toys, same vibe.

Every character in Mutant Mayhem besides the 4 turtles is an eye sore.
>Didn't the OG series go this way by 1991 or so? I remember after a point almost all the figures were grossout style.
nah, they fazed out gross out stuff and it actually got more furry or sexy. lots of stuff like April in a lepard bikini or gorillas in camo or leo as spock. Lots of weird shit, but not specifically gross.
The Garbage Pail Kids movie bombed BIGTIME, partly because that ugly shit was a fad that died quickly. You bought yourself an ugly toy, had a few laughs, then a week later went "oh no, this is bad actually. I should've bought a Transformer."
Yeah, it definitely is not. The first movie had a better story and better characters. This movie just has tons of things going on all at once. The Turtles themselves are good, but it's in no way better.
the story is good, honestly great ending and goes in new directions, the animation is fine, be getting more praise if it didn't come out the same year as spider-verse imo
That just shows what a embarrassment spider-verse is that this abomination is its legacy.
What do you think of jhon k op?
Movies and shows like this come out of spoiled brats who went into Los Angeles animation actively spiting all of his principles of appeal and entertainment because they don't want to listen to anybody but themselves.
Owned hard weren't you? Speak again and my emails will resume. It will literally be all your fault.
Let's not forget that spider-verse was heavily influenced by Homestuck, I'm currently messaging people to be aware of just what that webcomic was and the effects it had on culture, so they can understand spider-verse properly
Oh no, it's the lolcow of Cinemaphile.
Oops you spoke again so I'm going to do it. Do you think I need to wait for you to read my warning? You should know what you shouldn't do already.

how can someone be this much of a massive. unaware homosexual? I know the answer is autism but still.

>Is this seriously the best Turtles movie of all time?
No that's the Rise movie, but because that was only 2d animated and not 3d animated spergs are still shitting on it. They both have black april so you know there's no excuse for that being why Rise is hated any more if people like MM.
Little kids deserve movies that are so good that they can watch them every year for the rest of their lives and still enjoy them as much, if not more than they did when they saw it for this first time. It's a fricking shame that they aren't getting anything like that anymore.
>They skateboarded in the cartoon I grew up with >They don't skateboard in this one >Therefore it's bad
It sounds like he's autistic, better to get diagnosed if you agree that's a good review
RT was a worthless pile of shit to start with. A movie could actually be rated a 7/10 at the very best, most generous interpretation of critic scores, but have a "98% fresh" rating.
Saw this in a movie theatre with a nearly packed viewing. Lots of laughs from the families in there. Can't believe they used the he-man meme song for part of the chase. Yes I clapped. overall, I thought it was fun. Not really familiar with the series so maybe I'm the core audience. I wish the mutants showed more concern about fighting super fly, they were family after all.
It's the "I saw someone on reddit talking about the general concept of stylization one time and thought I'd do that without fully understanding it" style, with a dash of Borderlands.
What I'm saying is that they had the idea to heavily stylize things and stylization tends to do things wrong on purpose. Proportion exaggerations, dramatic shape language, etc. Think Kingpin from Spider-verse. They saw Kingpin being this fricking MONOLITH of a man and thought >we should do something like that! >let's make all our characters be super exaggerated and fricked up looking!
But they didn't understand why Kingpin as a giant black cube works and communicates his character so well, and why having every character look like someone shoved a dead animal in a blender with a bag of rotten garbage doesn't look even half as appealing.
>"If you don't like fat, black April you're a bigot!" >Nevermind Seth, a fat white guy, is voicing a character who is almost always black pre-mutation.
Definitely the most toothless version of the turtles besides the cowabunga pizza turtles. I like how gross the designs are but the edginess of the style/designs don't carry over to the story and themes at all which was really disappointing for me. I understand it's a theatrical release so I shouldn't expect too much but man the story really is just generic, and I do watch kids movies often so I'm not just pulling it out of my ass, it just doesn't do anything special compared to other kids flicks that have come out recently. It's sad that Spiderverse 2 is more edgy than this
Also the mid-credits tease being Shredder leaves me skeptical because it means he won't show up until the second movie and won't be a major character in any upcoming series. I don't mind not immediately getting into Shredderwank but I am a bit skeptical.
Good part though is April and Leo are a thing. About time he got his turn with April. April being a TV reporter again is really cool as well.
Overall it was okay. Hopefully the series that I am assuming will happen after this lets loose more
I was about to say.
Everyone is calling Splinter gay, but in the movie he and superfly refer to scumbug as she.
So, while repulsive, splinter still isn't gay.
Not to mention he even says he looks for mutant ladies a lot.
I guess the poster is just referencing the original.
You say that like Mutagen Man hasn't shown up in the other versions too though. Every TMNT has had a bunch of gross shit in it. It's part of the brand, they're sewer dwelling mutants who fight slimy alien brains.
>character that is supposed to be horrendously disgusting and gross is horrendously disgusting and gross
What's your point? Scumbug and Mutagen man suck, but that's no excuse for every character to look like them.
yeah that's the fricking point you moron, they're mutants. Fleshy abominations created by twisting the human form into hybrid animals with glowing green ooze, it's supposed to look gross. You fricking imbeciles will complain about anything.
Leo is always a beta simp loser in many series. This is why he always a lame leader. Leo be a serious and boring leader is not the problem, it's because he is always an incompetent, indecisive loser.
Mutanimals had so little time, they basically had one note joke personality. (Fillet sings, Bebop and Rocksteady are angry etc) Im not even sure what Leatherhead's personality. Australian accent?
What do you think of jhon k op?

And it frickin rules. is right though I’m not sure the target audience will be into the look of most characters
They don't know how to do that shit anymore either. Mutant Mayhem just looks lame.
Haha so if the anesthetic is gross out design, then that means the character designers knew black april is disgusting get shit on Black folk
She vomits all over the place
I'm not kidding
I think (hope?) that Leo thinking she's attractive supposed to be humorous
Its not so much that the characters are "gross' its that they are actually hard to look at.
It’s Nickelodeon duh.
Goojitzu?
Not really. More "things kids find cool" thatn gross shit.
Those characters aren't really ugly, though.
I am a child of the 80's this shit was like niche popular for a year at most

Holy shit they Barbified April.

the setting is new york
Is this seriously the best Turtles movie of all time? It's getting reviewed like it is.
The fact that they're trying to claim it's better than the first one makes me question the validity of their reviews.
Yeah, it definitely is not. The first movie had a better story and better characters. This movie just has tons of things going on all at once. The Turtles themselves are good, but it's in no way better.

>the story is good
It's not. It's basic as frick and the mutants are complete nothings as characters. It also ruins the point of them being villains.
But how else are they going to be able to make extra toys and shoehorn celebrities in?
>Honestly great ending
>Turtles going to school and being immediately accepted after one movie just so they can shove more poc/lgbt in the sequel
No but it reminds people of Spider-verse so it has to be good.
That just shows what a embarrassment spider-verse is that this abomination is its legacy.

Sooo, what would be the proposed direction the art should've taken? Balance the gross out with cute stuff like Katie said John was able to do?
Oh no, it's the lolcow of Cinemaphile.

I think they were doing it on purpose.
It has a frickload of funding, nothing can really beat the original films and turtles forever. Also TMNT is so big that cannot afford a flop.
I just really don't like the art style
Yes
Guesses on how hideous Karai is going to be on the show or next movie?
Just finished watching it. Solid movie aside from the standard shitty Rogen humor and April
>"Noooooo! This movie is for young audiences! You're a dumb manchild if you criticize it!"
Little kids deserve movies that are so good that they can watch them every year for the rest of their lives and still enjoy them as much, if not more than they did when they saw it for this first time. It's a fricking shame that they aren't getting anything like that anymore.
What about Puss In Boots 2?
Might actually hold up on repeat viewings. I suppose you're right that they at least got one this year.
You mean last year
How time flies.
But this movie writing are also bad. Leo is a fricking butthole.
Calling it now; There's going to be an episode of the show where all they do is mock the critics.
Audiences are hating it
Now this guy I trust. He laid out his issues and explained them fully.
>They skateboarded in the cartoon I grew up with
>They don't skateboard in this one
>Therefore it's bad
It sounds like he's autistic, better to get diagnosed if you agree that's a good review

I still can't believe the lengths they go to to protect lousy products

>white
Anon...
Still not black.
His legs look exactly like Aprils
you mean 3 of the turtles
this toy is actually terrifying
At leas that one isn't bloody and battle scarred.
When I see these purposefully so ugly it's edgy designs I hear Seth's obnoxious laugh echoing in the background. “Huehuehuehue”
Definitely the most toothless version of the turtles besides the cowabunga pizza turtles. Baxter looked pretty normal in the original comic, here he just looks hideous
Don't worry, he's only in the movie for like 1 minute
I don't mind the art style but that Spiderverse low-FPS animation is a damn blight.
Did you go see Spiderverse and help make it a huge hit? Then don't complain.
No but I've seen clips and thought "man that looks like ass"
NTA but I saw it twice
movie was fine, and the turtles acting like teenagers for the first time in their history was an interesting take
only thing I didn't like was them butchering Splinter into a cranky old man instead of a wise sensei, but Jackie Chan's delivery made it tolerable
I thought scumbug was a female, this thing is a guy?
This one is female. All other versions have been male.
I was about to say.
Everyone is calling Splinter gay, but in the movie he and superfly refer to scumbug as she.
So, while repulsive, splinter still isn't gay.
Not to mention he even says he looks for mutant ladies a lot.
I guess the poster is just referencing the original.
I heard Paramount pulled that poster too, maybe because it was wrong.
And the original series wasn't the same?
There were only a couple characters on the level of mutagen man and they were very short lived.
>New yorkers helping turtles fight BBEG
Love that shit
yeah that's the fricking point you moron, they're mutants. Fleshy abominations created by twisting the human form into hybrid animals with glowing green ooze, it's supposed to look gross. You fricking imbeciles will complain about anything.
I think she's cute
>they turned Leo into a neurotic simp
Thanks for bastardizing my favorite turtle Seth.
Have you ever watched any TMNT series? There's always one neurotic simp for April in the group
Leo is always a beta simp loser in many series. This is why he always a lame leader. Leo be a serious and boring leader is not the problem, it's because he is always an incompetent, indecisive loser.
Even the "fantartists" trying to praise her design instinctively have to remove half the shittiness.
Yes and they are all wonderfull designs because of that
It looks like a toy I'd buy in the 90s, love it
You can say the movie is shit, but the designs are great except for Splinter
>You can say the movie is shit, but the designs are great except for Splinter
They're all bad. Splinter is just especially bad.
Mutanimals had so little time, they basically had one note joke personality. (Fillet sings, Bebop and Rocksteady are angry etc) Im not even sure what Leatherhead's personality. Australian accent?
