Did Kerot even really do much? From what I gathered it only showed up occasionally after it was introduced and it's biggest claim to fame was pretending to be Combattler one episode. Boss Borot meanwhile was pretty much an every episode staple once it was introduced.
Yeah that’s the fate of most boss borot clones, they absolutely don’t hold a candle to the original, plus he even gets kills here and there and is in fact USEFUL
NTA, I've only seen the OG Toeizinger but there's an immediate similarity with the long bendy bellows joints on both robots. Jet Alone is known for being useless and has been the butt of many EVA jokes, and there have definitely been some Borot comparison image macros floating around. I could not speak for Gutsman.exe but if he's a joke character with brute strength the mild visual parallel would aid in the perception of him being Borot-like.
>Kikaoh's Bolon
Literally who?
NTA but it's the robot Bolon from Tech Romancer. He's using a part of Tech Romancer's japanese name, Kikai-Oh
Apparently the OG Getter Robo anime had one, but I could not say too much as I haven't seen it due to the crabsticks. From the talk I saw here on Cinemaphile about it it definitely lacked charm both visually and characterwise.
I don't consider any comic relief robot a Borot clone, especially if it's sentient
Borot clones gotta have the patchwork, ramshackle look, make serious attempts to fight villains, be piloted by a dumbass and preferably job for the real hero
I think the Getter one would count towards Borot clones, I'd assume it's piloted, but this would perhaps suit Jet Alone and Gutsman.exe

Monji is kind of a Boss clone and is a self-styled "inventor" (he made the purple Frankenstein looking robot) but he never gets his own vehicle. He only shows up about halfway through the series and gets forced into the plot when they build the Getter Gun on his ancestral lands and have to let him be its gunner for some reason. All of the episodes about him are terrible.

The gun is nothing special but it has a silly name (ゲッターナバロン砲). For his run of episodes, Monji would try to flirt with Michiru and make some stupid invention that would somehow help out the Getter team. I think someone complained the show was too violent or didn't have enough humor because Monji's introduction feels very forced but eventually he fades into the background.

Just goes to show that you can't force a Boss clone, it's gotta happen naturally.
Not only have I heard of it, I got 100k words into writing a SRW fanfic that included it, and I also watched the Atlanger OVA
64 Robo is just based, that's all there is to it. Calling him a Borot clone is like calling Grimlock a Borot clone

Nah, it triggers my autism too hard since they didn't bother to dub the game and all the Japanese dialogue and the game's opening says the word Kikaioh constantly
The guy in Jeeg had two robots. The first Mechadon with the car for legs didn't get at toy at the time but the second one was a modified Robotman from Microman cuz Takara was the show's sponsor.
Did Kerot even really do much? From what I gathered it only showed up occasionally after it was introduced and it's biggest claim to fame was pretending to be Combattler one episode. Boss Borot meanwhile was pretty much an every episode staple once it was introduced.

I really can't think of another Boss Borot clone aside from Kikaoh's Bolon, which mogs Borot
Jeeg had a goofy side character who had his own useless bot too. I forget much detail but it didn't show up that often and never appeared in SRW
Daltanious had one too. I forget it's name. It was alright given it was made by some war orphans in a cave with scraps.
The Daltanious one rescued people multiple times, if I remember right. I don't think it ever killed a MotW, but it was able to save people.
And raideen
64 Robot in Geppy-X
Tech Romancer had one driven by a magical girl
Jet Alone and Gutsman.exe
how and how
neither of those are anything like Borot

Are you blind?

Often imitated, rarely duplicated da-wa-sa!
(You) even heard of Geppy-X before now anon?

Oh. Just say Tech Romancer you gay weeaboo.
Nah, it triggers my autism too hard since they didn't bother to dub the game and all the Japanese dialogue and the game's opening says the word Kikaioh constantly
Tech Romancer and G.Kaiser (what does the G stand for) are pretty terrible names.
I don't know about that, but I do know the full Japanese name of the game is "Chronicle of Super Steel Warrior Kikaioh," and that's pretty good
Shut up nerd.
this thing and its two comic relief pilots
>Reccoa
>relief
I do, it's adorkable.
The kids from Combattler just lack the charm of Dan and Red Team
>Can repair and refuel in SRW AP.
Yeah, he's great. But my allegiance will always go to FATSO
The guy in Jeeg had two robots. The first Mechadon with the car for legs didn't get at toy at the time but the second one was a modified Robotman from Microman cuz Takara was the show's sponsor.
Doesn't embrace the age of fatso enough
It's pretty fat
