They actually changed the main themes of the show from "mankind's fury and rage over being treated like livestock and denied freedom" in season 1into "fighting to stay alive, righteous anger and racism are bad, go... eldians" in season 4, and retconned almost all characters to push a truly asinine narrative. I've never seen a more cucked, awful ending for a franchise.

The entire movie is about a woman fearing the dick. The "villain" thing is just a big-ass wiener about to slap the ever loving jesus out of some japs, that came back to action because it was teased by some pussy.
Through her travels across japan, she learns to say no to this vile johnson, to wienerblock this monstrous one eye snake that can ruin entire countries. In the road, she learns to love the average sized peepee.
I think we can all learn something from this.

But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the girl's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.
Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.
It's a perfectly decent fun film and it's audiovisually stunning but it doesn't deserve those scores
Also Shinkai really needs to make something totally different next if he doesn't want to become even more known as the guy that keeps making the same film over and over (although Suzume was a bit better in that regard, Weathering With You was the worst offender in terms of similarity to Your Name).
I heard an interview where he said he saw these films as a trilogy of sorts all inspired by the Tohoku earthquake/tsunami and Fukushima, and now he's done them he wants to make something completely different. Hope he sticks to that.

It's a weird movie the climax happens at the end of the second act but then there's still like 45 minutes left. It just isn't the best animated movie this year so it shouldn't get nominated.
