Everything about this is just a weird disaster. The first one actually did pretty well, made a lot of money. But they made an enormous blunder not only casting Amber Heard, but giving her a huge role in the movie where she's the love interest and it ends with them getting married. Because now opinion has turned around on Heard due to the Depp thing, although to my knowledge she didn't actually do anything illegal, everyone just collectively decided they didn't like her anymore. Which results in them thinking "Okay, obviously we have to cut her out of the sequel" but then it looks weird as frick for Aquaman's wife to play such a major role in the first movie and then be in the second movie for 5 minutes and that's it. That on top of the whole timeline reset making people think "What's the point of watching this?" It'd be like if Marvel made a movie where they killed Black Widow and then later on released a prequel movie where she was still alive and expected people to care. Which is what they did.
I think what they probably should have done is not hesitated and committed to a second Aquaman movie much earlier. They waited far too long to do this one.
OP, Amber is not in this movie. Everything else is the same. The first one made a Billion dollars, this flopped epically.
Amber was clearly the reason of its success. They fricked up when they removes her. The numbers don't lie.
The story was awful but they did cut down a lot of Amber scenes you can tell since she disjointedly shows up here and there and barely has any lines
AMBERCHADS WE JUST KEEP WINNING
this. she made the first movie and i saw it 3 times, twice in imax cause of her and so did millions of other people
She is literally in the movie moron
She is in the movie about as much as Lando is in The Rise of Skywalker.
People watched the movie for Nicole Kidman you epic morons
>It wasn't the hot redhead, grises people went to watch the bogged granny
Sure, champ.
I've been sitting here for the last hour trying to figure out why you said grises.
I tried to say "guise" and forgot I had my keyboard set to Spanish because I sent some X-mas greetings to some latin friends. Just autocorrect.
doesn't she save his life like twice in this
she's in it at least as much as Dolph Lundgren is
she was in it a lot more than I was expecting, I thought they would kill her off early but she survives all the way through to the end
It occurs to me that the actual reality of these superhero films is that they stopped being released in China and then suddenly the box office numbers plummeted. Some people say theaters are dying, I say we're finally seeing what the numbers look like without any Chinese support.
Domestic numbers are down.
Did they do Black Manta justice?
Answer my question
i'd say, yes, but the payoff was weak
Is he psychotic like the good comics? Does he get more than 8 minutes on screen?
Ye
Wait so the villains in this movies are just the same villains from the first one? Is this movie moronic?
No, the main villain from the first movie is now one of the heroes, and the side villain from the first movie who barely had any screen time despite being Aquaman's archnemesis, is the main villain of this movie.
the main villain was unironically global warming lmao
Wait one fricking second.
Are you saying we get to see red haired Amber in her hottest outfit one last time?
Frick, anon, their biggest mistake was not putting that on the covers.
I want to squeeze Amber Heard's boobies and I don't give a frick how mean she was to johnny depp
All I see is her ugly crying at the trial and popping the bed.
*Pooping. Amber Turd.
To be fair, Johnny Depp also pooped on her bed, but it was a greasy diarrhea shit, so I think Amber got the worse deal here.
All I'm seeing here is a hot wet chick in a green bodysuit and nice breasts.
I never watched one video frame of that trial
thank you for sharing your informed opinion, you are valid.
I'll let her poop in my bed
the problem here is, and you gotta remember this, the thing is that DC sucks
>The Flash bombed
>Blue Beetle bombed
>Black Adam bombed
>Aquaman 2 bombed
lmao, fricking DC
The Batman did well, but the thing is they specifically made a point of not connecting it to the DCEU. The "cinematic universe" meme is finally dying and people are tired of it, we want to go back to the days of standalone movies again.
It did well, but I didn't like it at all. The overall direction just didn't work and it felt like a TV movie.
I liked it a lot. To me it was the first comic book movie in a long time that actually felt like a real movie with actual cinematography and not a phoned in CGIfest.
Cinemaphile is practically the only place I've seen express a negative opinion of it. They finally figured out how to make a good superhero movie and the movie board still doesn't appreciate it.
>with actual cinematography
That's where you lost me. I found it incredibly weak.
You sound like you have shit taste. Who cares about cinematography when the writing and acting are such shit? Those are the first things the majority of people respond to in a movie.
Don't give the cinematography any points. The city felt tiny, almost claustrophobic, but in a somehow non-threatening way. Gotham should feel huge, oppressive, and offputting, a literal concrete jungle where there's a piece of shit ready to stab a new frickhole into you at a moment's notice. I got none of that from The Batman. It just felt bland and lifeless, and the camerawork in general was no help in that regard.
The direction had no sense of atmosphere, and atmosphere is a vital component to a good Batman film.
>The "cinematic universe" meme is finally dying and people are tired of it, we want to go back to the days of standalone movies again.
God I want that to be true. I hated this shit from day one.
On second thought, it doesn't even matter. It's either woke multiverse or woke single movie. Who cares, not gonna watch either.
doesn't matter, DCEU is over now anyway, this was the last movie.
>Blue Beetle
who
it was ok
All they needed to do was release it two or three years ago when people still might have given a shit. The first one came out in 2018. That's pre-fricking pandemic. And the sequel's just coming out?
They took so fricking long we went from Endgame being literally the biggest movie of all time to capeshit being a dead genre between the first Aquaman and the second. What the frick were they waiting for?
I imagine they probably got greedy when the pandemic happened and decided "No, we'll just hold off on releasing our shit till theaters reopen again, people will surely still want to see it then." The whole landscape of cinema changed in 2020 and they still haven't accepted it.
>2018
Holy frick what? That's like 5 years ago, and would've been 6 if they released Aquaman at a decent time. What the frick took so long to get this fricking film out?
Supposedly, according to Wikipedia "sources," WB/DC didn't even WANT to do an Aquaman sequel. It was only in 2021 that they actually decided they wanted it and started working on this movie, then they decided to delay the movie from 2022 to 2023 because, first, WB got bought and then Gunn rebooted the DCEU completely instead of just half-assing the reboot with The Flash, so they pushed this movie out to die at Christmas so they didn't need to put marketing budget on it. This movie is basically being pushed out to die so they can claim a tax break.
I feel like ever since Zaslav took control of WB, he's been making the stupidest decisions possible, canceling everything he can and not having anything to replace it with. So it does not surprise me that he intentionally sabotaged Aquaman. I don't know what the guy's plan is because it certainly doesn't seem to entail making money. How much bullshit does a guy have to do before the rest of the company forces him out?
This isn't on Zaslav. This is on WB's actual day-to-day execs, including Gunn.
Gunn was hired to make movies. Zaslav is CEO. This is on him.
Sorry for tagging this much tbh, It's not first time DC or WB screwed themselves. Their meddling caused Superman64, and Batmanbeyond64, Aquaman on Gamecube not to mention several tv shows and or movies. Also Merry Christmas everywan. <(^-^)>
The DCEU disaster is all on Hamada. Zaslav is just the guy they brought in to wrap up the mess in the fastest possible fashion
>she didn't actually do anything illegal
She made claims that were proven to be false, doctored a photo to make it look like she had a bruise and then when the real photo surfaced lied and said that they weren't the same picture, just different lighting. Anyone else would have been charged with falsifying evidence and committing perjury and wasn't because Elon Musk, who is worth 253 billion, is the father of the baby she had through a surrogate and only because she thought it would shield her from losing, the idea that they're not going to find a mother guilty of anything!!!FACT!!!
>whine whine whine
She's hot and thats all I care about.
Oh, yeah I forgot she dated Elon. That's all I need to know in order to dislike her.
How's the wife and kid?
What's bad about it is how Orm doesn't have even more screentime and is mostly treated as a joke. He was still the best part of the movie.
This movie can't possibly be as bad as people are saying. I'm tempted to go see it just out of curiosity now. James Wan is a decent director so you would think at least the big money battle and action scenes are well done. A lot of this negative sentiment is probably people just piling on.
It's worse than the first one but watchable. It just uses its screentime poorly, like there are long boring parts next to good action scenes in cool environments that are pretty short for some reason. The Aquaman & Orm buddy cop movie thing was good but more shallow to the point that the most emotional moment was a callback to the first movie. I don't regret watching it, it just could have been better.
Doesn't sound too terrible. I just want to know if it's as bad as Alien 3 vs Aliens. Aliens of course was a masterpiece. As for Alien 3, the less spoken of it the better. Alien 3 was by a different director though so at least what happened is understandable.
Hard to say because the first one wasn't a masterpiece either. It's similar but less flashy and has less "soul" so to speak. Like on paper it should be quite good based on the premise but a lot of scenes and dialogue feel like it's going through the motions and there wasn't much effort put into it. But most capeshit is like this anyway so it doesn't stand out as much.
Basically. I don't know if you remember, but with Aquaman 1, people were shitting on it hard at the start, only to turn around and say "Actually we liked it" when it made a billion dollars. I saw some articles that really made my blood boil back then.
This movie, meanwhile, has no chance of making a billion dollars, so those same people are jumping on the chance to shit on it. There's a lot of people for whom "it didn't make money" automatically means "bad movie" and vice versa. Nothing about the movie itself, just the money. So I don't trust anyone's opinions. I just check the movie out myself if I'm interested, and don't check it out if I'm not. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. But I don't let anyone else tell me what to think.
They destroy this shit on purpose to unironically make you seethe and demoralized. They never actually cater to real fans even when they get called out. They just throw more slop on your plate kek
WB are doing the same thing with Joker 2. Everyone wanted the sequel to be a musical obviously.
I saw it today and thought it was a good time. Nice message, too. Patrick Wilson is a kino multiplier for me.
Have you seen Bone Tomahawk? I recommend it.
Seconding Bone Tomahawk
>people watch this shit for Amber
>a small minority of screaming chuds, pojeets and twitter crazies suddenly hate amber
>they cut Amber out
>nobody watches this garbo anymore
Its their own fault.
Why wouldn't a giant studio just pay Amber more and tell her to drop her moronic lawsuit? Or was it because the lawyers don't give a shit and can always profit more when there's more drama, mergers and bankruptcies?
