Anime is lazy as frick.
No
So is java made 3d cgi animation
Generic french anime wannabe? I don't think we missed out on anything Anon.
I'd rather take the "french anime wannabe" than whatever abomination it is now. I find the models ugly as frick
this is what they sold the CG show as
there is no way the 2d version was going to look how you wanted
i remember they sold it as an anime and a cgi movie
But this looks better that the end product.
I think the anon was suggesting that had the 2d version been made, it probably would have cut corners in quality from it's pitch aswell.
One day we'll get to see the true Ladybug. One day.
The thumbnail glitch! Looks like it's a Sonic comic.
>The thumbnail glitch! Looks like it's a Sonic comic.
to me it looks like a High Guardian Spice comic
HIROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The show would look a lot better if they did more at night, with better lighting/textures, and had some generic low-poly civilians so Paris didn't look so empty.
Good point. Wasn't Ladybug supposed to turn into... Ladybug during night? I feel like it was promoted during pv days or something. I mean, even early 3d promos were having Ladybug at night setting.
Now that would be something good. Even though we still have some episodes during nighttime. Not enough still.
>and had some generic low-poly civilians so Paris didn't look so empty
I guess, having miraculous in 2d would simplify making Paris more crowded, since there's no problem of rendering multiple objects at the scene. It didn't stop them during the last episode of season 4, but that's another story. Seeing some characters pallete-swapped in 3d looks strange at the very least.
Isn't the whole night and day thing a part of the opening as well? I would have thought we'd get more night time stuff myself as well.
>Didn't like drawing the spots
Hah, same reason Cell didn't get Freiza's role for Dragon Ball Super
which is funny considering it was made by the same studio which animates the dragon ball series (Toei Animation) so both ladybug animation and cell sharing this same issue of spots makes it more hilarious. also considering how dragon ball super started it was going to suffer a lot of QUALITY
A part of me wants to still be upset over this but another part of me remembers how much of a mess Super was, so I can't be too upset. Maybe it's better like this.
You only think it looks good cuz you’re a weeb.
it wasn't going to happen because 2D is too much work
IIRC they put the OVA back in development in 2016-17
back in development hell that is
Yeah, the 3D version's aesthetic looks so plasticky and fake, which is a shame because 2D fanart of the 3D style actually looks fantastic, way better than the 2D pilot.
I just hate the way they tease us by having the 2d version exist as an in universe movie.
The CGI show is already made with circus peanuts, a hand drawn faux-anime (especially one like the PV) would have been choppy as Hell and would have produced a worse product than we have now. The best I could see them reaching generously is looking like Totally Spies.
I generally dislike the anime art style but the animation quality is usually miles ahead of western shows, why is this?
Aesthetics. The actual animation isn't much better(or wasn't; modern cartoons are outright less ambitious outside of action cartoons so its less of a gap). a lot of anime focuses on lingering shots, talking heads, leaving maybe 7 minutes of truly intensive animation; as opposed to western shows which try to make everything keep moving all the time.
Another thing is too, anime tends to compose shots of characters outside of rigid model sheet looks. Like you'll get an upshot and the character sheet rigidly in the same view as a model sheet, or Meanwhile in an action cartoon characters tend to stay the same size and proportions as the model sheet. Look at something like Justice League unlimited compared to NAruto; yes JLu has more animation, but the fights are less exciting because the characters never diverge from the same rigid proportions and angles.
Need I remind you, that Asstruck would be still in charge. So it wouldn't matter much. Besides, now we have Ladybug assets, which would be difficult to pull off in "that" 2d. And Ladybug is still quite expressive here
>now we have Ladybug assets
Do we though? Sure they exist, but it looks like no one is willing to risk sharing them.
Some Russians have made models that are really close.
If this show really much better in French than in English?
Personally, I don't think it makes much of a difference.
>I can't believe this was scrapped because they didn't like drawing the spots. What could've been
We were robbed
it would still have the crap writing tho which means filler forever
Ladybug looked really nice in the show and especially the movie
The show would still be shit full of shit characters, starting with Mary Sue Marinette, because the writing is shit and the creator of this trash should be murdered with fire.
i like the 3d version
>spoiler
>filename
very based
To be fair, this would look really geneeric
Cat Noir not looking like a disgusting cute twink was the better choice
>disgusting
>cute
getting mixed signals here
Twinkbait, you know
But animation is le hard, and I am le tired
Felix > Adrien
go on
Felix had personality. It's more poetic for Felix to find Marinette annoying while Ladybug rejects Chat Noir's advances. It's way cuter for silly Marinette to be thirsty for somebody as serious as Felix rather than perfection personified Adrien.
Are you saying Adrien isn't serious?
Not as serious as Felix.
I mean, yeah. But they serve different roles entirely.
I might as well post this since season 5 just started. YMMV on sentimonsters.
Thanks for keeping this updated anon. I have a feeling a good amount of the Akumatizations aren't going to have obvious sources this season but this is still nice to have.
how are the sapotis marinettes fault
I'm trying to see the reasoning behind it but I'm sort of drawing a blank. Maybe because Marinette was there that night that caused Alya to get distracted so she couldn't handle her sisters as well as she could normally? But that sounds like a stretch. Or maybe it's just because they didn't have a slot for Alya cause Akumatizations. I'd like to hear the reasoning behind it.
