Street Fighter has villain characters that still act like unrepentant buttholes, such as JP and to a lesser extent Juri.
All I wanted was a Venom that combined stuff like Resident Evil 2s Mr X or Yakuzas Majima anywhere so you're constantly being stalked and harassed by a horrible space alien that doesn't trigger your spidey sense. Like he just comes out of nowhere when you're swinging around or fighting goons to frick with you. This is the exact shit that killed Venom. The living costume mimics fabrics and he was supposed to look like a creepy Spider-Man. The minute comic artists and writers started treating him like a shapeshifter that transforms into a black hulk with dinosaur teeth and tendrils fricked the character forever because all people want to see is "OMG HE'S SO RAW AND BRUTAL" rather than how clever he was. Venom was creepy to Spider-Man the way Spider-Man was creepy to a lot of people in the Marvel universe. I never liked Harry Osborn as a character or making him a second Green Goblin. I know they felt pressure to recapture that magic and maybe from a meta standpoint him being a lame copy that disappoints readers to some extent the way he disappointed his father was on purpose, but I feel like he always drags a story down. Maybe I'm biased because I only had shitty friends growing up and Harry reminded me too much of my best friend who also aged into money and wasting his time with drugs.

There was definitely a way for Flash to appear briefly in the game without his legs while setting up in a post-credits teaser about Project Rebirth or the Sym-Soldier Program where the government or S.H.I.E.L.D. had managed to obtain symbiotes before Peter, Miles, and MJ wiped them all out and offer him the opportunity to participate in it.

Street Fighter has villain characters that still act like unrepentant buttholes, such as JP and to a lesser extent Juri.
All I wanted was a Venom that combined stuff like Resident Evil 2s Mr X or Yakuzas Majima anywhere so you're constantly being stalked and harassed by a horrible space alien that doesn't trigger your spidey sense. Like he just comes out of nowhere when you're swinging around or fighting goons to frick with you. Spider-Man getting the cops on his ass because Venom started masquerading as him, nightmare chase scenes where you've got to get to the church or something to abuse the bells because you can't take him on in a fight. Anything that feels like Venom. This was just goopy Lizard.

This is the exact shit that killed Venom. The living costume mimics fabrics and he was supposed to look like a creepy Spider-Man. The minute comic artists and writers started treating him like a shapeshifter that transforms into a black hulk with dinosaur teeth and tendrils fricked the character forever because all people want to see is "OMG HE'S SO RAW AND BRUTAL" rather than how clever he was. Venom was creepy to Spider-Man the way Spider-Man was creepy to a lot of people in the Marvel universe. I hate the fricking design from the Raimi films but at least they remembered it should look like he's wearing a costume and not covered in oil. Comic book creators and fans have no restraint. Everything has to be taken to the utter extreme to prove how epic and for adults it is and it becomes laughable.
Part of that is just insomniac being insomniac though. Every single design needs to make extensive use of PBR or other advanced shit. A suit can never just be a suit

And it hurts Carnage in the process too. Before he was always writhing with tendrils and leaping about animalistically because he was a diluted (or distilled depending on how you see it), unstable version of venom. No meaty tongue, no teeth, his form is just constantly framed with tentacles and slime as his limbs warped into weapons because he was a maniac. A hard contrast to Venoms calculating mind games and anti-spiderman antics.
It's really the worst of both worlds. You waste Venom on this sappy shit and you waste Harry by forcing him into a roll that doesn't suit him. You end up with a story where that ends up being "suit bad, he make people monster" and that's it
It made me realize that Harry would have made a really fun Venom in Raimis Spider-Man 3. All that annoying dickery, disappearing behind buses and taunting Pete with his identity. Thats all Venom shit
Raimi's a complete c**t for purposely sabotaging that film instead of putting his foot down or trying to adapt those characters well despite not liking them.
I'll never get over that the guy who made his name with horror movies, who made EVIL DEAD, doesn't like Venom. I guess hes got his unbreakable attachment to Lee and Ditkos sorta era since he grew up with the stuff but its so weird to me
He seems to like that era mainly out of nostalgia, the characters hardly act like they did in those comics.
Harry did it to an extent too, and honestly he made better use of knowing Peter during JMD's run than Venom ever did, but a big part of that I think was that Harry just has a much much better motivation than Brock
I never liked Harry Osborn as a character or making him a second Green Goblin. I know they felt pressure to recapture that magic and maybe from a meta standpoint him being a lame copy that disappoints readers to some extent the way he disappointed his father was on purpose, but I feel like he always drags a story down. Maybe I'm biased because I only had shitty friends growing up and Harry reminded me too much of my best friend who also aged into money and wasting his time with drugs.
I honestly can't disagree more. Harry's final stint as the Goblin is peak Spider-Man for me, and easily the best story told with the Green Goblin. Harry was a better schemer than Norman too.

I like how they found a way to shove in Knull trash as well as the Carnage cult thing. Cletus Kasady is now just an alias and he acts nothing like he's supposed to and has zero ties to Eddie Brock. But he's got a shirt with red goopy patterns on it so you know he's Carnage. Reminds me of DC's shitty tv shows.

It's either another "HARRY WE GOTTA GET THE SYMBIOTE OFF OF YOU IT'S MAKING YOU EVIL AND IRRELEVANT AS A CHARACTER TO THE SYMBIOSIS!" story, or it's a poor man's JMD Harry.
By now the more subversive take wouldn't be to have another evil all corrupting symbiote story, it'd be to actually fricking copy the comics and how the symbiote genuinely cared for Peter.

I’ve been thinking about how I’d include /ourguy/ Flash Thompson while adhering to the “woke bodies and spaces” atmosphere Insomniac is going for
>MJ calls Peter and asks him to give a wellness check on Liz Allan says he just locks himself in his room all day
>Peter meets him and he’s all depressed and feels like a loser for not having any legs
>Peter decides to cheer him up by getting Spider-Man to spend the day with him
>Basically a comedy of errors occurs where Spider-Man has to fight a bunch of loser D-listers with the help of Flash while on their big day out
>Flash gets his confidence back and thanks Peter, accidentally revealing he knew he was Spider-Man all along
And the post-credits teaser is him signing up to be a Guinea pig for super secret project Agent Venom
There was definitely a way for Flash to appear briefly in the game without his legs while setting up in a post-credits teaser about Project Rebirth or the Sym-Soldier Program where the government or S.H.I.E.L.D. had managed to obtain symbiotes before Peter, Miles, and MJ wiped them all out and offer him the opportunity to participate in it.
Meh.
I don't get it, is this game legitimately good and people are whinging over dumb shit, or is it very flawed and just mediocre/above average but only gets a pass due to it being Spider-Man and having the web swinging mechanic?
