We haven't gotten one movie from Disney where the male lead is a badass and mentors the newcomer where she learns a great deal and looks at him with admiration, and then earns his respect to the point where he passes the torch to her.

Like they are not capable of writing this. The male lead must always be a broken washed-up loser and the newcomer female is just better than him and talks down to him constantly, and it always has to end with him acknowledging her superiority and she doesn't even need his torch because she's usurping his legacy whether he wants it or not.

Disney saw Top Gun Maverick. They know the winning formula, and they just ignore it.

They can't do it yet. Films are usually planned and worked on years in advance. Top Gun Maverick was released last year, so any reaction to imitate that, would be released about three to four years from that point

They wouldn't have been able to change Indiana Jones 5 in reaction to Top Gun Maverick unless they scrapped the entire thing and take a massive loss, because they worked on it over the past three or so years

When Disney changed the Wandavision script to prevent Wanda getting help from Dr Strange (thus making sure he would not appear in the show in any way), you knew they choose to burn their own projects.

For an 80 year old he's still relatively badass, but there are no real knockdown brawls like the other Indiana Jones films. She's not a know it all, Indy solves the problems, she just comes across as a sociopath ready to leave him to die at the beginning of the film though she does get more sentimental and attached to him as the film goes on. Thats why she didnt let him stay in Sicily, she didnt want to lose another "relative".

Movies are also an escape, so you can go into a world and view a story with things that are nice to look at and are entertaining. When you return to reality after leaving the movies, you have to suffer looking at fat mobility scooter whales, ugly obese multi-hair color freaks and everything else that scars the eyes. Now they are bringing all of that into the movies themselves for "realism" or "representation" and people understandably don't want it.

The leaks said they travel back in time to the 1930s and 1930s Indy dies. That’s far too big a change for reshoots since they only travel back to the Siege of Syracuse in in 212 BC. For the leaked ending to be real, they would have had to change two thirds of the movie instead of just the ending.

Obviously Indy died and that was reshot. But Phoebe replacing him at all points in history? How would that even work when the Dial only takes you to one point in history? That was always bullshit.

Given the reshoots and comments by Ford and williams, no doubt there were multiple endings at one point. The original ending was Phoebe replacing Indiana which is why mangold got so upset, but it had to change once they realized the consequences of such an ending. It doesn't even have to involve time travel and can just be Phoebe leaving Indiana behind and taking his place against current day Nazis in the present.

If Indy gets erased from history, and she travels to a time period before raiders of the lost ark, then she can absolutely foil the plans of each Indiana Jones villain in iconic moments from the franchise because Indiana Jones already did it all the first time without any time travel. Once she goes far back enough she never has to travel through time again if she can accept living in the past

I do think it's likely the movie originally ended with Indy dying but when Iger came back he saw what they were doing and freaked out, probably saying "I will not have another Last Jedi on my hands!" hence the bafflingly abrupt ending.

I'm calling it now: if Kathleen Kennedy doesn't get shitcanned after this, Bob Iger may become a glowie and have someone take KK out.
I want to make it clear, I do NOT endorse any acts that may lead to someone's harm. It does not matter if they make bad movies, no one like that is deserving of any violence of any kind. I am simply saying this as a conspiracy theory that may come to pass.
KK has been responsible for some of Disney's most recent disasters (SW as a brand, Willow being erased, Indy, and countless others that aren't fully known to the public) and somehow, SOMEHOW, she still has an executive position at the company. Better producers have been removed for less, yet she still remains. It clear as day, she has something that protects her from losing her job and reputation. What exactly, who knows. Bob knows and he needs to do something about it.
    I can imagine it now
    >Bob gets an intern to directly message a psycho who's on the edge (who happens to have liked SW)
    >They reaffirm the psycho's beliefs and tells them that they should take matters into their own hands
    >Suddenly, the "death threats" every Disney employee is forced to read dries up for KK, making her feel at ease
    >She goes out one day, maybe to an Elton John concert, that the psycho is suspiciously aware of, and he does the deed, at dirt cheap
    >Now Bob has not only quietly gotten rid of his greatest mistake, but now he kill two bird with one stone by tar and feathering the "toxic fans" and "trolls" that caused this hideous act
    >He can then recover his legacy and pass down his problems/debts onto the next sap who takes his place
So if you see a post on here or /pol/, saying how (You) should take care of KK, there's a chance that you may be speaking to the CEO of the happiest place on Earth.

the idea of getting someone else to get rid of KK is that it keeps your hands cleans, so there's no reason to pull any deadman's switch. Especially when you blame trolls and toxic fans. Keep in mind, we're dealing with people who waste hundreds of millions a year, they're not the sharpest tools in the shed.

The point of a deadman’s switch is it doesn’t need to be pulled.
A example is KK has to send a password to a random server once every 15 days or it automatically sends out a press brief to 15 different media and a mass email to everyone on her contact list.
So once she dies it goes out auto
If you have to “pull” a deadman’s switch, it isn’t a deadman’s switch,

People are speculating they needed many reshoots because the original ideas weren’t working out. Given KK’s track record (i think we are at 10 cancelled projects?) it kind of makes sense. Either they were making it in a way she didn’t like so she demanded they turn the ship around, or she was leading it in a crappy way and execs panicked and demanded they turn the ship around. Or both.

Xers and the like are tired of their childhood heroes being disgraced and humilated, only to be replaced with stock stronk woman.
Zoomers don't give a shit about these humilation rituals and aren't buying into the Reys and Fleabags

that's speaking about general audiences but their is a market for such things and it can be lucrative. if Indy wasn't 450 million dollar production (when factoring in marketing), sure the movie wouldn't be a flop.
the max budget for this kind of slop should be no more than 100 million.

if studios want to continue on this path, they needed to adjust their thinking. woke feminist garbage has a market but it's can't support a 450 million budget. studioes need to realize it's a good sized niche market but still just a niche.

it's eerily similar to how American appliances and automotives fell from grace
        >GM and GE think they own the market
        >make crap
        >soon their reputations are in the gutter
        >can't sell their shit despite long legacies
        >shame consumers and act like there's some moral obligation to support them
        >start to lose to foreign companies
        >limp into congress every 10 year to beg for cash
Looking forward to the Hollywood bailout in five years because they couldn't be assed to just make a good movie.

Tom is the only person left in Hollywood that knows how to make an old fashioned adventure film without any pandering to D&I. Thats why his films are successful. Hollywood has come full circle back to him. I actually want to see the Next Mission Impossible, I know I wont be disappointed, I'll get exactly what i expect.

every Cinema in the world should just reserve a theatre for Top Gun Maverick every Sunday or something since there's still a lot of people that missed seeing it in the big screen.
Everyone I know that didn't says they regret it and would probably watch it in the theatre given the chance.
Hell I wouldn't mind watching it again on full IMAX.

I saw it but didn't think it was that bad. However, it's plagued by some of the shit that most modern movies have like not being able to understand what some characters are saying at times because the audio is fricked. Also, in some of the nighttime action scenes I felt like I couldn't see shit at all. I also don't think it was necessary to show an 80 year old man shirtless at the beginning of the movie.

Top Gun made $1.5 billion with 60 year old Tom Cruise.

Mission Impossible is about to do the same numbers.

It’s Kathy and the whole fricking toxic brand she has built at Lucasfilm. My wife asked me to go to Indiana Jones for our date night on Friday and I said no. And I fricking love Indiana Jones. Important to note: cruise movies also have elements of feminism (strong badass women!!!) but it's not done in obnoxious way. yeah i'm talking the recent cruise reboots as well as older classics. i'm not a cruisehead by any means just saying, they did shit in a more subtle and artful way and the masses were OK with it. i haven't seen recent MI or TG movies.

I don’t mind a little feminism. The problem is that I never thought poorly of women anyway and so I don’t need to be lectured in a stupid corporate action film. Kathy just doesn’t fricking get that because she has a 69 IQ and thinks humiliating Indiana Jones is helping women or something

hardcore feminists like phebe and KK see it as a Zero-Sum game, in that to uplift women they think they must shit on men and take power away from males (the beneficiaries of patriarchy). that's basically the best summary of what's going on, both in movies and politics. it's annoying because the fact of the matter is that men work to maintain and protect society. i've chosen to opt out of that cucked behavior so there's that. i sleep like a baby.

I was walking around Target today and overheard a 30 something man getting all excited and telling his wife and kids that he couldn't wait to see Ashoka when it comes out this fall. Think about that. That's the audience that Disney is trying to capture or has already captured. And then think about the larger audience that goes to the movies, which is a bunch of zoomers and young millennials at this point. They don't give a frick about Indiana Jones or Star Wars. That's not the stuff they grew up with. They grew up with Marvel, that's their legacy film franchise. And I know that Marvel we say is being beaten into the ground by poor management at Disney, but that's going to be their meal ticket in the next 5 to 10 years when all of those zoomers grow up and start having families of their own. Those 30 something year old man children who just consume everything Lucasfilms are going to be old men in a couple years who aren't going to the movies anymore. Why they can't grasp that now I don't fricking understand
