Enjoyed the entire prison sequence. Rake punching dudes with a literal flaming fist was hilarious. Everything before/after that was meh. Do agree it was more entertaining than JW4. Sam Hargrave has a good eye for action.
hits a brick wall at 80 miles an hour when they reach that skyscraper safe house. the dumb ass israelite kid (who looks like neither of his parents) was such an unbelievably insipid and tired fricking way to extend the conflict. movie could have cut him out and been about +40 mins shorter because clearly all the real action went into the prison escape. also, nobody wants to watch some mystery meat twink and an indian woman fight, frick off with making them characters. definitely more boring downtime than the first movie. idris elba popping up is also a BAD fricking sign as that means his ugly Black person ass is going to dominate the 3rd movie in screen time. 5.75/10
The israelite kid was the biggest homosexual but that entire family fricking sucked. This movie wanted to do more Tyler Rake backstory but it was unnecessary. We got all we needed from Extraction 1, it was sad, he's a broken man and maybe he'll be able to heal someday, that's all we need.
In this movie he has to come out of retirement to help out his ex-wife... who the frick owes their ex-wife anything? The ex-wife's sister is an ungrateful dumbass, the son is a fricking humongous moron that gets them all shot to shit and arrested and got Yaz killed, then his ex-wife actually shows up, the first words out of her fricking mouth are "I didn't want to ask you for help." b***h, WHY DID YOU, THEN? Then she sits there with her arms crossed talking down to him while he's having a fricking mental breakdown. b***h his friend fricking died for you and your dumb ass nephew.
They should have dropped the family tie in completely and just had the family be a random druglord's family unrelated to him that Tyler wants to help out because the son reminds him of his own son and have the moronic son be 8 years old so him being such a fricking moron could be excused.
I had a friend call me in the middle of the movie asking to hang out and I told him I was almost finished with this movie as he was fighting the final boss, and I moved the controller and I saw there was 40 minutes left and I’m like “what the frick?”. The fight on the glass roof was where it could have ended, but the brutal fight/kill in St. George’s was cool
Just the concept of this billionaire drug lord that "owns the country" having to stay in prison, and then beyond that, a prison where apparently he has a rival gang that wants to kill his family, and then BEYOND THAT, keeping his family in there to essentially just torture them and waste their lives too - was all so moronic I couldn't even get into it.
The main bad guy should've just hired Tyler Rake to get his brother and the family out of prison

The posts above say the film stopped being good by the time they made it to the tower. Problem is, the film wasn't good. So their points are moot.

Extraction 1 was good. The sequel, as most sequels, is derivative trash. Sorry I don't just turn my brain off watching films like the rest of you.

i didn't say it "stopped being good" i said it hits a brick wall at 80 miles an hour. and it fricking does. the first extraction had the "boring windup so we know why this shitskin kid is important" intro but it was shorter, AND it didn't fricking happen again midway through. this was a med-drama procedural, then some gay lore about a crime lord duo that lives in frickoffstan nowhere in the ass of russia, then a good action scene, then what feels like an hour of dumb family googoo gaga bullshit, then a DECENT action scene in the tower, and beyond that i can't even remember as it had completely lost me. too much womanly bullshit and ugly israelite kids for me to give a frick by that point. far, far worse movie than extraction 1 even though the prison escape + train sequence tops every john wick sequel

Extraction is at its best when things are moving. The skyscraper part was the exact opposite of Extraction. No movement. Not going through the streets of India, not going through a prison and a train, stuck in a building like some tacticool Die Hard fighting a bunch of videogames minibosses with no personality. And all because of that little shit ass homosexual kid.
Sandro should have gotten shot. He got literally everyone else shot and he just fricking walks away.
It's good, it would've been better without that dumbass kid that got everyone killed, but the action is great and I love the pajeeta woman, I'm glad she's still alive

JW4 was just unfocused as frick and the plot armor was too moronic. Both movies suffer from the same problem which is really fricking awful characters. JW4 had that Boss Black person cowboy guy who seriously had no fricking purpose being there but to waste everyone's fricking time and Extraction 2 has Sandro who makes you want to reach through the screen and throttle him.
extraction 2 seemed to also take a page out of JW4's bullshit playbook and gave the "super mooks" that land on the helicopters and attack the skyscraper have SUPER SPECIAL BULLETPROOF + KINETIC ENERGY ABSORBING FACEMASKS AND ARMOR BRO EPIC. literally getting shot in the face, shot point blank in the chest with rifles, shot in places plates definitely aren't sitting, shot with a magazine's worth of ammo, and they're still fricking coming. shit was fricking moronic and marred the train scene hard as well as made the skyscraper fight all the more boring

It's about a spec ops gigachad mercenary who specializes in getting high value targets out of dangerous situations.
The first movie is kino because it's just the gigachad shitting on poojeets and dragging along a kid who is kind of a pussy and dipshit but never too annoying and believably like a dopey kid.
The second movie is less kino because it goes into the gigachad's backstory which we didn't need and all the targets that need saving are fricking annoying as frick and should have died and aren't even grateful he saved their dumb asses.
I'd add that I hate jump cuts too and what makes these films good is that they use camera tricks to make all the action scenes look more like continuous shots.

I agree with a lot of the posts in this thread but holy shit does this movie NOT deserve this amount of discussion.
This is coming from someone who still enjoyed it, and who liked 1 a lot more. But it's a dumb second movie of a franchise that is clearly on the path to becoming absolute crap. All hints of talent from 1 are getting pushed aside by poorly written family melodrama and action getting increasingly dumber.
There is some hope 3 is a return to form. 2 was clearly trying to do the opposite of a lot of stuff from 1. It didn't work. Maybe they will pay attention.

This really isn't true. Extraction 1 is very fun, Extraction 2 disappointed but was serviceable.
I turned off JW4 20 minutes in. I didn't want to turn either of the Extraction films at any point.
