How is it as a F13 remake? How is it as a horror movie? I think we should re-assess a little.

It's great for what it is, attempting to cram three movies into one and jumpstart a dead franchise. The costuming is terrific, the effects hold up (compared to the trash CGI we get in most movies today), the soundtrack is good and there's the kind of nudity you'll never see in a Hollywood film again. The dialogue is straight trash, but I honestly think that's what they were going for.
A more based and thoughtful take than I was expecting. Cheers, anon.
Decent. Definetly upper-mid of the pack. First ten minutes pre title card are kino. More competently crafted than some of the sequel. Mixed feelings on some attempts to be "more realistic" (tunnel system with camp wide alarm system)
basically what this anon said, great take and based.
I don't mind a different start, but I didn't enjoy undead Rambo. Maybe if a movie or two had lead to that point I'd have liked it, but he's just way too competant of a trapper and archer for the beginning.
So you wanted like a Jason Begins where you watch him learn how to trap and hunt? How did you feel about the tunnels standing in for the "teleporting"?
Not really learn as like an active thing. Just progressed too fast. You can't try to restart something, and have him at the same level he was like 4 or 5 movies deep before.
I get you. If he slipped up and let someone escape, it would've made for a nice sequel.
It is okay.
Not the worst like some say. But not the best.
It does an pretty good job when you think how the movie had to summarize Jason’s origin for new audiences and condensing three movies into one movie. IE showing Ma Voorhees, Jason seeing her die, how Jason got his hickey mask (let’s be honest, autistic fans would be upset if there was no sack head Jason, so they had to include that).
Most of the hatred comes from the campers being lame and changing how Jason operates. With the first part, it is understandable. The Firday has had some good characters and casts before (5, 6, 4) and most of the people in the remake sucked. As the the second part, I can see why people would be upset at Jason running and using underground tunnels. But since this is a remake/reboot it didn’t bother me since I like to think of it as an alternate universe take.
And some of the kills were decent.
Overall I think it was an okay remake.
The tunnels are a little too much of a Nolan hyperrealism take for me; they could've just shown him "appearing" around. Who gives a frick.
Yeah dude, that's an absolute 10 IQ take. You've read the first line of the synopsis of the F13 franchise. Yes. Jason kill sexy teen. Yes. You know you can't get upvotes on here, right?
The series is at its best when it is exactly that. Otherwise you get parts 7 and 8
Based. F13 is not about making a film, it's about making a murder simulator with breasts.
Best breasts in the series/all other slashers

Interesting. I'll have to do some tests to figure out the validity of this, but I like the look of it. At first glance I'd move VIII down to Shit tier, but maybe I need to revisit.
>It’s LE BAD because Jason isn’t in it!
2&4 made me fall asleep. 8&10 are open filters
Jason is in VIII, idiot. You mean IX or Jason Goes to Hell. newbie contrarian opinion otherwise
He's talking about 9... and Jason Goes to Hell, because they're the same movie, but also 5 because Jason is even more not in it than in 9.
I was using "or" as either/or for the title
Part 5 is kino
100% a man.
Boring and pointless reboot. It lacks the charm of the 80s friday movies.
It’s okay. Better than most Friday movies, but that’s not really a high bar
Humblebrag incoming: I fricked Mandy at my buddy's house party way before she got implants and changed her name to Willa.
How was she? She looks like she'd be boring. Not trying to sour grapes. Did you eat her ass or what
Idk man, she was passed out cold. She lay there like a blowup doll. And don't call me a rapist cause when we woke up in the morning, I fricked her again (she didn't remember the night before).
Then why mention the night she just lay there? Tell me about the next day. Did she swallow? Did you eat her ass? Let's go bud
It was a fricking awesome Friday movie and it sucks we never got and will probably never get a zombie jason sequel to it. You basically had two movies in one (technically three if you count the short recap of 1), you get baghead AND hockey mask jason, it was actually brutal and that one guy looking for his sister was just like the guy looking for his sister in the originals except he didn't job like a moron and was actually competent.
>He's killing me!
Jobbed so hard he gets killed at the start of every f13 game match.
Two sequels that took inspiration from 4 and 5+6 respectively would have been awesome. Jason actually dies in the first sequel, you get introduced to Tommy or a new character that fills the role of Tommy, then the next sequel could have the first half be about a Jason copycat, and then the real Jason shows up as a zombie for the next half. Or you could go with the dropped plot point from the end of 5 where Tommy was going to become the next Jason, then have the real Jason show up.
I'm surprised they haven't done a Jaws remake yet. Add some shoehorn environmental theme and it would sell great. Wouldn't be good, but it would make money
"Shark movie" is a joke and complete shit now. Even the unironically decent ones (I think "The Shallows" was okay tonally) still would have a long way to go before anyone thought they were scary again.
