This anime was billed to me as a more realistic and gritty military mecha /sci fi show. Is this true? Has anyone seen this? Is it good?

Why don't you watch it and form an opinion instead of asking us to hold your hand when watching video files
>bro just waste your time watching 75 episodes of this show blind
I mean maybe that's fine if you have no life but most people prefer to spend their time wisely.
>uh I need a rundown before I watch or read anything!
Anon, you should be able to draw your own conclusions on if you want to continue to watch a show after a handful of episodes. That aside, I'd like to respectfully ask you to think about how the OP was posted.
>this anime was billed to me
Is being paired with
>is this true
>has anyone seen
>is it good
Not only can we infer anon already actually got some form of answer to his questions, since he got the recommendation in the first place, but he's also blithely asking some really silly sounding ones. They're half reasonable from the perspective of total ignorance but that doesn't change that some of they sound really goofy to people who've watched the show and who don't mind trying things to see if they want to invest more time in them.
AFAIK Battletech's problems are entirely its own and there are no questions on the Japanese side on ownership of designs. However, that's also completely unrelated to why some form of legitimate Dougram release is probably never, ever going to happen. Given the AI upscale, you are likely better off pirating it.
>AFAIK Battletech's problems are entirely its own and there are no questions on the Japanese side on ownership of designs.
For Dougram it should be the exact same situation where a sub licensor (Nitto) again sub licensed to Twentieth Century Imports who then sub licensed again to FASA just to distribute model kits but not use them to create an IP. I think it's more Dougram's lack of official release outside of Japan aside from Takara selling some of the toys in the US. I'm sure if you pressed them on it, Takara and/or Sunrise wouldn't be happy about it. There is a story from Tim Eldred back when he tried to get a Votoms TTRPG off the ground and no one could make miniatures because Takara wouldn't allow it.
>This anime was billed to me as a more realistic and gritty military mecha /sci fi show.
It's better than 08th MS Team if that's your baseline. The robot fights are kind of silly and the Dougram is basically a one-robot army but the political side is top notch. Don't knock Lecoque.
Good job, OP. You’ve invoked the Lecoque poster. Now we’re never going to hear the end of it for another week. Hope you’re happy
>implying Lecoque posting is e4DMMSVver a bad thing
>Dougram is basically a one-robot army.
To be fair, I like how the show puts a lot of emphasis on the rest of the army and logistics in war; the titular robot is strong but more than once Crinn comes out victorious thanks to the help of his comrades and the rest of the revolutionary army.
Dougram alone won't win the war and the show takes its time exposing how there's many people involved in battle with supply lines, tactics, attacking and defending as a guerrilla group or defending a big line of vehicles in movement, gathering intel, etc.
The show can be long for some, but you'll enjoy it if you want to see those things over, say, a giant robot killing millions of aliens alone or functioning for weeks without worrying about fuel.
This is an edit right, his forehead can't be that big.
The art style of Dougram is very inconsistent.
Oh my god his forehead his huge.
I liked the time the normal Fang of the Sun couldn't make it so Central Casting sent some extras from Fist Of The North Star
5 scoops of that deloyer pre workout
>1 month in Deloyer
>Buff as shit, and only from sitting in a wienerpit.
That's what two suns do to the wheat grain.
watch it and find out homosexual
Oh it's as much a clown show as any when Dougram starts Dougramming all over the place, but it can be summed up as
>OK Gundam was cool, but yknow it didn't go as hard as it could on grounded military conflict
And so it's essentially taking the ball that Gundam invented and running with it into a world where the giant robots are not exactly the cutting edge weapon of tomorrow, but one piece of materiel in a conflict won not on the battlefields but through back channel deals and politicking that allows for that materiel to move around and pressure the right parties.
a) watch the goddamn cartoon for your damn self
b) ehh, sorta
the week-to-week often you can almost hear the backstage parts where Takahashi is explaining his latest tacticool idea and the execs are like "uhh, yeah so it just, like, jumps high and wins, right? great let's roll with that shut up" and then loldougramwins
the war sorta stalls out later on in a way not unrealistic to real wars against an indigenous population, but was probably just to drag shit out for toy commercial reasons
but yeah
pace yourself and it's a fun ride, but don't marathon it
What do you think the most muh realism mecha is? From what I’ve seen I’d say Votoms
MS Igloo but only episode 2
>What do you think the most muh realism mecha is?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnson_Sea_Link
tragic backstory, a mkII, totally Ver.Ka
No, not even close.
>VOTOMs
Nah, I got advertised VOTOMs as being realistic and got disappointed, I ended up enjoying it after being told by /m/ to shut up and watch it first, I did and I ended up enjoying it as a result.
Anyways as for the most realistic mecha anime, I'd say FLAG.

I especially like how no one is quite sure what happens when an land type Combat Armor goes underwater. The first time a Roundfacer just overheats a bit and the pilot gets out but later on if they go beyond waist deep they explode? Old anime magazines joked that rain could stop them. The high jumping aspect is also a bit funny because Americans who bought the reboxed toys without any context thought their legs springs were a nod to realistic suspension.
>This anime was billed to me as a more realistic and gritty military mecha /sci fi show. Is this true?
Kinda. It can feel like that at times and then lol-Dougram judo throws the enemy round face and wins. That's fine though since the draw show is less about the individual battles and more the political wrangling that occurs over the course of the series.
>Has anyone seen this?
Yes. There was a group watch of it several years back so a decent percentage of people here have watched it.
> Is it good?
Yes.
I watched the entire thing 3 or 4 years ago. I remember liking it, but there's a handful of really moronic moments like one fight where the mc is surrounded but kills the baddie mechs 1 at a time despite them all having a clear shot at him.
Also the last few episodes are really cringe except for the stairs pistol scene.
Overall it's good but flawed. 8/10.
Also the uniforms for the Federation from Gundam seem to have been directly lifted from Dougram(there's even a faction called the Federation lol)
Earlier version of the show used Mobile Suits I think?
Taiyou no Kiba Zakuteikusu
The kkk shows up in one early episode with hoods and torches its hilarious
Yeah I liked the space racism and wish there were more allusions to real life in it.
I'm still not entirely clear on exactly where Deloyer is relating to Earth, /m/en
Algeria
I meant spatial distance wise
I still need to watch that guy's hobby upscale, or at least his improved DVD raws.

Lecoque is supposed to be in his 20s so take that as you will.
I love this about dougram everyone looks normal hell theyre ugly by todays anime standards
yeah there was a definite idea of "the people are sorta ugly" but then running it through lol korean animators made it look like everybody was off model constantly
I liked the amount of burly male characters with hairy arms.
I'd call it half logh half 0079. But you'll have to watch it yourself.
"Not even justice, I want to get (You)s."
>justice
Is there any hope of this getting a western release or are the rights screwed up? I'm very interested in it after getting into Battletech
It has some cool mechanical designs but there is nothing gritty about the show. It's really boring and moronic rape abbo screaming "birry" ruins the entire show. I want all the protags to die.
>moronic rape abbo screaming "birry"
Whomst
The dark fat shirtless one carrying
around on its shoulders and obsessing over the kid.
>Talking shit about a guy literally called anonymous
kys yourself. He is literally me.
Not fricking with Nanashi should get you a speedy execution.
the kid with the TOW launcher that doesn't do much ruined the show?
Is there any decent release of Dougram? Every one I see looks like dogshit and I don't want to spend 74 episodes being eye-raped.

based. Wish that someday VOTOMS or Dragonar would get uploads like these.
Dragonar is getting a fricking BD release.
It already got one didn’t it? Last I checked /m/subs guy actually got his hands on them too and was working on redoing the Dragonar subs but that was like a year and a half ago
Why do you want an upscale then? The only reason the Dougram upscale is an improvement is because the current rip that's been around for years is so low quality.
I just want an easy source for hardsubs bro
For me it's Canary
