Smiling Friends wasn't ruined by high expectations, it was ruined by all the episodes being released at once so there was basically zero interest in the show a couple months after it aired

Probably execs trying out some dumb new method of airing AS shows, or the other shows on air at the time had contracted airtime so smiling friends couldn't go weekly.

look man i just didn't pay attention to the fanbase. i've seen this shit many, many times. i also don't really use twitter. it sucks that people tear through cartoons like this and discuss it to death within a week, but at least you can go knowing that disconnecting from that whole social circle will keep the show fresher in your brain
