Let's talk about the last four or so years of comics, from 2020 until now. What are your favorites? Least favorites? Pleasant surprises? Biggest disappointments? Any upcoming comics you're excited about?
Can include capes, webcomics, Euro, indie, etc., but you have to include western favorites.
>Bendis Batman
>Hick-Men
Frick off. Deep Cuts is kino tho.
Bendis' Batman and Hickman's X-men are my favorites
Deep cut is pretty bad tbh.
I legit don't like anything published in the last 5 years from american comics.
Meh I agree for the big 2 but I liked time before time, deep cuts, ghost cage, ronin island, twig, strange skies over east Berlin, hexagon bridge and a few others. I like lotus land at the moment but that’s due to wrap up soon.
None of those interest me in the slightest.
That’s cool. Genuine question, why are you on Cinemaphile let alone ITT? It’d be cool to have a sincere reply rather than a shitpost.
Why are you so upset?
I’m not, though you don’t seem apt to believe me. May I please have an answer to the question?
You sure seem aggressive just because I'm not interested in any of those comics, not only because they simply don't sound interesting but they're made by people whose works I've read and haven't enjoyed. Why would I ever read Ronin Island when Greg Pak bores me to tears? If I want a samurai series I'll just read a manga.
Ironically you seem quite upset that I asked why you’re ITT or on Cinemaphile. Simple questions, those two. Still no answer though.
This
isn’t me though.
Full Circle
Red Room
Head lopper, which barely counts.
>Red Room
New issue when?
Trigger Warning wraps it up.
it's a troll anon. It's just looking to ruin the thread.
>i don't like those
>but i can't name any I _do_ like
yeah nah foh troll
Yes, I don't like anything currently being published. Why are you so triggered?
lmaooo you're a joke
Again, why are you so upset?
you can't handle being laughed at?
Have fun, buddy.
Because I like the medium of comics I just don't like anything recent.
yeah homie I will, thank you
I’m the anon actually asking him questions and McKay’s moon knight is fricking terrible. By far his worst big 2 work. His strange isn’t awful but calling it his best gives it too much credit as well. His avengers is bad too.
But that cappuccio art is and has been hideous they entire run. The annoying vampire chick and soldier dude are insufferable, let alone tigra looking and sounding like shit.
It’s sincerely one of the least enjoyable comics I’ve ever read. Being just slightly better then Bemis doesn’t make it good.
>But that cappuccio art is and has been hideous they entire run
Thank god I’m not the only one who thinks this. It’s like everyone in the MK threads is taking crazy pills. Though it’s likely just shills.
>McKay’s moon knight is fricking terrible
Absolutely.
It has to be shills.
I once posted a random page from the run with obviously awful art and people were defending it vehemently.
Wouldn’t shock me. His entire run it’s been impossible to say anything but praise without being descended upon like you claimed the Holocaust didn’t happen
Nta but you have shit taste.
at least I can post shit i like, which is the entire point of the thread
you come off as a catankerous old man who had no childhood, seething at youth having fun
But what you like is shit.
>BHUTT WAAAATCHHUUUU LIIIEEEEKK ESS SHEEET
You ok, sperglord?
YHOOO OKKK SPHEERRGGGLAAAWD?
Damn this moron's brain is mush.
DAAAMMMNNNN DIS REETAWDS BWAAIIN ESS MAAASSHH
>Because I like the medium of comics I just don't like anything recent
That’s a good reason to be on Cinemaphile but I don’t understand opening this thread to continuously talk about how you don’t like a single of the well over 1000 comics made in the last 4 years.
>inb4 u maddddd
No, not at all. I’m just curious.
Bro, I just said I didn't like any, someone replied to me and named some things and I said those don't interest me in the slightest, then he and someone else had a meltdown because I don't like modern comics despite the fact that Cinemaphile does nothing but b***h about modern comics these days.
Nobody had a meltdown. I’m the anon who asked why you’re here after saying what I liked. Nothing from the time period interests you so it seems odd to post ITT.
I told you why I'm here.
No you told me why you’re on Cinemaphile not why you’re in a thread about something that by you’re own admission doesn’t appeal to you.
What do you feel you can add to the topic?
I was just looking for recent stuff I might enjoy. No need to get so butthurt over this.
And you felt seething about every comic made and saying you don’t like anything modern was the best way to find something you might enjoy?
>butthurt
This is painfully ironic coming from you
>And you felt seething about every
What?
Why are you so butthurt about comics existing anon? Why are you seething about being called out?
But... I'm not.
I mean it’s pretty obvious you are. Calm down, take a breathe and maybe go outside. There’s no need to get this worked up over comics.
So you came into a thread about comics made in the last 4 years despite not liking any to continuously say over and over you don’t like any comics made in the last 4 years?
Just seems mightily autistic.
Top 5: I’ve been enjoying reading these past 4 years
5: One Piece
4: Attack on Titan
3: Kill Six Billion Demons
2: Golden Kamuy
1: Dungeon Meshi
I guess for Marvel, Immortal Hulk may be #11
DC had no runs that stood out to me but I liked the ending to Superboy Prime’s story
Did a new issue of Reqiuem Vampire Knight drop in the past four years? If so I’d have to go look for it, but it likely would take #2. As it stands, Japan>France>Indie Americans>>>>Big 2
>What are your favorites?
These are more or less my current favorites.
>Least favorites?
I haven't enjoyed almost any of the cape comics from the past several years except
>Pleasant surprises?
Fantastic Four: Full Circle. The art might be Alex Ross' best.
>Biggest disappointments?
My expectations are kind of low right now.
>Any upcoming comics you're excited about?
Sunday by Olivier Schrauwen. It's already out, but a collected edition in English is coming out soon.
I still have to get around to Dungeon Meshi. I dropped all those other ones.
>Did a new issue of Reqiuem Vampire Knight drop in the past four years?
I think so.
You really should check it out. It feels very western, avoids so many Cinemaphile tropes and all the /tg/ tropes you think it’s falling into are rebutted along the way
>It feels very western
So it's bad?
Sure
Cool, thanks for the recommendations anon I'll read some of these.
But listen, recommending books is a serious business. If I end up despising any of these reads, you better watch your back. I'm not just talking about leaving a scathing review on Goodreads. No, I'm talking about a full-on literary vendetta. I'll track you down like a relentless detective hunting a suspect, and when I find you, well, let's just say you'll be the protagonist of a horror story. So choose wisely next time, my friend, for the fate of your limbs may depend on it.
I mean you’ll see him in these threads, he posts that grid weekly. Most of those comics are terrible anyway.
Okay. I'll be waiting.
In the meantime, what are your 2020s favorites?
Last one I posted was in February.
Now say it Tristram Shandy style
Seven Sons
It's Lonely At The Center of The Earth
Damn Them All
Hellblazer
Fishflies
American Ronin
Sacrament
Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country
Batman City of Madness
These are all the comics I've enjoyed recently, maybe Gargoyle of Gotham too but I only read the first issue before I saw the delays.
Really enjoying Spurrier's Hellblazer.
Other than that everything is fine
I actually don't dislike the new hulk run, lots of big dumb monster fights; spiderboy is growing on me, The Goon revival, and probably image transformers.
A very recent one, The Rabbi’s Cat!
A very insightful tale about finding purpose, though the second half does drag. Also has very nice art.
You two should kiss already
Removing the IPs made shitposters more bold.
wonder woman dead earth?
What about it?
Is absolutely horrendous, I agree.
The art is cool.
No it isn’t. It’s intentionally ugly and Johnson is so far up his own ass. Terrible character designer and awful overly indulgent page layouts.
You just like it because “le supermans’s spine!”
You just have shit taste.
Ironic given this dude above you just said
>I like the current Fantastic Four. She-Hulk is good but its so fricking slow.
I like the current Fantastic Four. She-Hulk is good but its so fricking slow.
Was really hoping The Bat-Man First Knight would be good, but it wasn't.
These threads always has a guy who has somehow had the time and energy to read every single comic ever made and HATES EVERY SINGLE ONE THEY'RE ALL SHIT SHIT SHIT
jej
It’s funny because you say this likely talking about me after I shit on north’s terrible FF and rowell’s even worse she-hulk (genuinely might be the worst comic marvel has printed in 20 years) yet I gave 8 reccs in one post, more than anyone ITT aside from the 3x3 grid spammer and dealt with the apathetic shitposter.
Both of those comics are fricking terrible and the world would be a better place if North and Rowell stopped writing altogether.
>I gave 8 reccs
The 8 shittiest comics in the entire thread.
I don’t believe you’ve read any of them you massive homosexual.
Pardon me for taking note of the timing, I admit I was wrong and I’m happy to know you too hate North’s FF and Rowell’s She-Hulk
Your recs are as bad as North FF and Rowell She-Hulk, dumb c**t.
>you were probably talking about me
Not everything is about you anon, I'm sorry to tell you this but it's true.
If you could tear yourself away from yourself and scroll up the thread you can see it's mostly people listing books and then somebody coming along and calling it shit.
143227623
hol up homosexual contrarian, thought moony was the most horrid worstest terrible comics
dumbfrick can't even keep his shitass trolling consistent
Pussy-ass moron.
Fight Girls
Ultramega (if it ever gets continued)
The
RUSH
West of Sundown
The Giant Kokju
Lovesick
Step by Bloody Step
Monsters
Sorry that was supposed to be
THE RUSH
Damn Them All. Step by Bloody Step. The Crimson Cage. Saga of a Doomed Universe. Sacrament. Bunny Mask. Red Room. I really liked the Tedward stuff Josh Pettinger has done and I'm excited for me. Pretty much anything Simon Hanselmann has been up to. The Brubaker/Phillips collabs have all been mostly great. Also really enjoying World's Finest by Waid/Mora
>The Crimson Cage
I didn't like this one.
